The original game and this were my freaking entire childhood back in the 90s. I absolutely love the look of Scorpion, Reptile, Sub-Zero, etc. in this game the most, too.
kiely 456 You mean like his hammer spamming counterpart in MK9. Fighting him on hard was one of the toughest things ever. I was cowering away shooting fireballs from the corners of the map.
***** New generation? First off, I'm almost 26. Secondly, I have beaten Shao Khan many times(mainly with Liu Kang.)in MK2 and MK3. And after a while it wasn't so hard anymore. And I still concider MK9 Shao Khan to be harder. Thirdly: MK3 was one of the first fighting games I've ever played in my life. I used to play it a few times a week on the SNES; at a friends place because my parents couldn't afford one. I've been a fan ever since, even throughout the lesser MK games that came out in the early 2000's. So don't be quick to judge and calling people kids.
***** You claim to be older than me, but you insult as if we're in the schoolyard. And yes, I mostly used fireball spam to beat him in MK9, on hard mode. Sorry that my methods aren't the same as yours, that my method offends and that I "suck". I'm not hardcore or that super good. I just used a way to win the game and I try to enjoy myself. And for your information I have played the older games. Mainly MKII, I only played MK1 a few times because it felt inferior after playing MK3 first. It felt like going backwards. Good for you that played them at the arcades. I didn't mind the arcades much because we didn't really have them in my country. And I actually agree with you about disgracefull micro transactions, Goro locked on the disc bullshit on MKX. Yet I still find myself enjoyed playing it otherwise. MK9 on the other hand is my favorite second to MKIII.
***** I was born 89. Laughable and pathetic, huh? Just because you think differently, doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it. I'm trying to be civil, but hey this is the internet after all. I still consider you have to be good, to beat Shao Khan "like a man" in MK9 on the hardest mode. His "invulnerabillity" moments were quite annoying if I remember correctly. I do know how to dode his shit and still land hits. Its when getting close he becomes a pain in the ass for me. Even though I loved MK9 I still didn't play it as often and I wasn't really that good online either. I do agree that the first few games were the best. But thats because I remember them in a great nostalgic way. Also, I might be mistaken the term "hardcore"in your eyes. But I'm not a casual gamer anymore, let alone hardcore. Wife and job take priority above any day.
Down, Forward, Back, Back, High Kick. Some fatalities will never leave my memory. This game was golden and still is. I enjoyed MK 9 but it's a shame it had to be a reboot. I preferred the old MK story line the way it originally was.

On the Mirror Match, I had to remind myself a couple of times that the Liu Kang in blue was the player-controlled one. It's a bit weird watching a run using the Player 2 side.
One thing I'd have liked is for Liu Kang to always retain the butterfly kick+uppercut as a fatality but with it having the special ability of triggering stage fatalities of pits and such. Shame that idea didn't ever reach the creators.
@@TheMuttFromTacoTown Right but it kinda stopped after MK1. I do like it as being a "non-fatal" finishing move to really carry Liu Kang's mindset of not killing his opponents.
Year 1998 , I was a boy 9 years old . It was first time , I saw 2 game Mortal Kombat 2 and 3 . In Ha Noi city , Vietnam . Everyday , I came to a gameshop SEGA , I watched "many young peoples" play these 2 games . I only watched , but I don't know played this game . A memory childhood of me , a Vietnamese people about this game .

You have to figure out how to beat each character with Liu, I've never made it passed the mirror match The CPU will upper cut you out of a flying kick directly after a block (which you can't do) and throwing it is nearly impossible it'll cancel yours and throw you. It can also throw you out of an attack. This seems TAS to me with the buffered fireballs and whatnot.
@@jaredt2590 I main Raiden on SNES and sometimes the CPU throws me when I'm doing the thunder fly attack. I can't get past Liu Kang who loves to abuse his crouch fireball, and if I try to get close to the CPU, I get thrown to oblivion, so I'm forced to spam lightning and thunder fly with the occasional jump kick.
You take a lot of unnecessary Ls by not just chipping them out when you have the chance. We get it, the AI has a pattern. Just kill them instead of trying to show off the pattern for the 80th time.

1:16 The heck was that? Raiden's a ghost. He goes through walls, but can somehow still die after being a ghost. Even when you try to make sense of it, it's no use.
Never made it past Lui Kang with Lui Kang hopefully this video will show me something. With CPU this bad there is no excuse why the designers made you fight yourself. You're battling the other fighters to win the Tournament, you don't fight yourself.
I always considered the reason for the Mirror Match was either some vile sorcery or Shang Tsung trying to sabotage your place in the tournament so you confront the imposter.
I think Kitana's dad should have kept her from doing anything, anywhere where there are a bunch of spikes sticking down from the ceiling. "Listen, Kitana, you're not really a ninja. . . no, I lied when I said that. . ."
Awesome playthrough! How did you do the A.I. glitch where they follow your moves? I know it has to be player 2's side, but does it work on the MK Arcade Kollection?
Whoever is playing this should have just done the jump kick+ high fireball combo. It would have made this go faster and it would have been a lot less boring.
