Nintendo really blew it with their home port of Mortal Kombat by removing what makes Mortal Kombat, well, Mortal Kombat--its blood and gore. The sales spoke for themselves. Everyone flocked to the Genesis port and I think we all know why but Nintendo could've had the definitive port that could come close to the arcade.
Thanks to skilled hackers, this version can be saved but it has a long way to go. We've seen what they've done with the Sega ports and they're amazing but for know we have a patched version that changes the grey/brown sweat and turns it red, which we welcome. Uppercuts are much more satisfying now. All we can do now is wait for our savior to come and fix the laggy control, choppy gameplay and of course, include the FATALITIES.
However, this hack version not only patches the blood but it increases the gameplay speed. Faster gameplay isn't always good especially when the controls suffer from input lag. Now you have to adjust the lag at a faster pace which makes this much more difficult to play. Or maybe I just suck!
Everything in the game is sped up and you'll hear with the music. Overall, it's a fun/frustrating experience that I encourage y'all to try out but you have been warned.
