It's hilarious watching this back, it's insane just how much there was left to learn. Remember guys, we only had two days to learn the game before this exhibition! Crazy how it's been a year already, Sorcerer Quan took such a long time to break down in time for EVO.
+ABACABB Nice to see ketchup holding his own there, wasn't sure how his play style would mesh with quan chi with the whole class canon nature of it and with him being such a defensive player, summoner is his main in X though, right?
Katahklysm WhaT? Nononoono NO! That is a horrible attitude to have, especially with fighters. Just try out different ones in practice. You learn one way or another, and when you practice with someone, you can understand the match-up against that character a bit more too. I am pretty decent with mileena, and I never would of before if I didn't practice with her. I didn't even think she was going to be one of my mains. You gotta go beyond your comfort zone;
Katahklysm Yo if you aren't in it to play competitively, just play to learn the game and have fun. Erron black has other fun variations like the Gunslinger. Trades the sword for iffy use of the rifle.
People need to stop with the Ketchup hate. 1. Sonic Fox *is* extremely talented. He is an NRS god. That's an easy matchup for nobody. 2. Rushdown vs. Zoner is a seesaw matchup, where momentum can be hard to break. This match was to Fox's specialty. Albeit Ketchup *is* a defensive player, but against someone who can breach those defenses and punish poorer offensive options, it's a tough hand to have. 3. Fox bodied literally everyone he saw at this tournament. He went 15-1, Tyrant being the one person to take even a single round from him. In Grand Finals, MIT's record was 10-4 to Fox's 10-1, and he still got 5-0'd. 4. Yeah, I buy that they had a handful of days to prepare for this. The tournament was on 11 April, and MKX was released on the 7th. That's learning frame data, practicing hit confirms, developing muscle memory for BnBs etc. for your own character, as well as trying to get matchup knowledge for the other 23 characters you might face, not to include nuances due to Variations. So unless those 8 contestants got the game beforehand, that's a lot of f***ing stuff to have down for a tournament in a four days. 5. Present-day, Ketchup would crush literally all of you. I would pay cash money to watch one of you punks try to take down Ketchup, only to choke on your words. 6. And, no disrespect, but yeah, Ketchup commentates, Fox consistently plays Grand Finals. There is a tangible difference in high-level play experience, and Ryan still took rounds off the guy. I'd like to see any of you get a quarter bar off Sonic. Cash money.
I know its a year later, but your 4th reason doesnt really make sense because i understand ketchup had only a couple of days to learn everything but. SO. DID. SONIC. Also your 5th reason makes even less sense because of the fact that just because i say someone is trash doesnt mean im better. These dudes play the game all fucking day, so i would fucking expect them to beat me. No shit you're gonna win when thats all you do.
@@collinpearce9030 You seemed to miss the part where Sonic and Ketchup are on completely different levels. 3 days of training for Sonic is going to be a lot more useful than for Ketchup. Your point is like saying that 3 days of studying for an PhD student is the same effectiveness as for an undergrad. Also, it's kinda dishonest to say someone sucks because they lost to the best in the world, which is why I even made this post. Ketchup is a great player. He lost to the standalone best NRS player of all time. Sonic is miles ahead of the second best. He is the hardest opponent for literally everyone. He is the final boss of NRS tournament play.
@@collinpearce9030 I'm sorry if reading is laborious for you, but two and a half paragraphs is hardly an essay. Maybe if you would think and figure stuff out for yourself, I wouldn't have to explain the obvious. Also, I didn't ask for your lazy comments either, yet here you are.
Patrick Star the 211 DBF 2 juggle ender is tricky, but the way i do it, is during the last two hits of 1, i do down back, and when the string ends i do forward 2, it makes it a lot easier than rushing the inputs at the end
The problem with Quan Chi is that his basic combo which kicks the opponent into the air is pretty awkward to pull off when the fight gets pretty fast. Also I think the first low kick should have a longer range.
I don't play competitive fighting games nor follow pro MK. I know this Sonic Fox is one of the best if not the best, but just from watching this and a few other MKX videos I already know that Erron Black is the strongest character in the game. I would like to see this Sonic Fox play another character.
I didnt know who ketchup was before this. When first seeing the fatal 8 fox embarrassed him. Now looking back on this ketchup is blocking shit the first 2 days of the game that some pros cant even block now. Plus he did great at evo.
If you call the same over powered strings of combos over and over so many times that you get bored of watching beast, then you have a weird opinion on things that are beast.
Shadow Mage Love how some MK players call this high level play. Its just the same character kombos cancelled into a special attack over and over again. It isn't hard and doesn't require any thought. With the slow movement and no airblock you are bound to get a hit eventually. Then just mash in that combo and everyone will idolize you for some reason..
Yeah but I get bored of watching these mini tournaments because of sconic and he just does the same thing over and over. I bet that erron black is the only character sonic knows how to use lol noahrockson
Playing as Quan chi can bring you back to the old days when Quan Chi and Shane Tsung join alliances in Mortal Kombat deadly alliance for P's2/XB original •_•
You know what? I don't even watch competitive fighting games, I chanced upon this video accidentally. But fuck was I damn impressed by the display of both players, especially Sonic.
Mrgnome2 Vman is a OFFFLINE Combo Artist i see you don't know anything about pro gaming in fighting games sonic will destroy him he know what competitive fighting is you can't compare (mk9 expert ladder) with players like sonic they are 10 times above that level
Lord Arctus Uhh, maybe you should google ketchup. Ketchup is a condiment, not a living organism, so it is much less likely for ketchup to have a gender. Although some do have peni, so who knows nowadays.
It's mostly dpad and arcade pass made for the game if your serious about it. Stick is to easy to make unwanted inputs with and is harder to combo with in my opinion
Westin Mcclister Lol, I was actually going to say the exact opposite of you about both points. I thought most the pros use stick, but I know a lot of them use D-pad too, especially compared to other fighters, so I could be wrong there. About stick, I would say that is easier to not make unwanted inputs, because you have to be way off with it to make a wrong input. But then, it is just down to personal preference.
thats the worst quan chi ive ever seen, his best combo ended to fast and was only like 21%... i guess he was nervous or something Sonic is destroying him, not that its hard with erron black though...
Hahaha no this match was before the game even came out. Nether realm studios gave the game early to a very small amount of people and essentially said you have two days to learn the character then you're going to compete. So yeah look him up ketchup he got like top 10 at evo one of the best quans in the game
running is also from MK 3 or trilogy. I know the games went through some huge changes after the n64 one though with the 3d aspect of the game. running was definitely either in 3 or trilogy though, pretty sure it was 3 as trilogy was just 3 but with more characters basically.
***** They're pushing it lil bit too much by wearing suits. Like, this shouldn't even be considered a sport... just a bunch of nerds sitting down and playing video games not a big time ACTUAL sport like football, basketball etc..
+JewTube why not? This requires a lot of skill, muscle memory and dedication just like real life sports. In addition, when the tournament is being by sponsored by Xbox (I think, might have been Sony) you want to make it look formal. Either way, to state that esports are just a bunch of nerds fooling around and shouldn't be appreciated is very ignorant. Clearly you aren't aware of the immense growth of esports in recent years.
+JewTube sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Mkx and other competitive games are everything in that definition except for "physical". Thus they are called electronic sports since they aren't physical.
this would be a good dialogue, between kratos and raiden.... Kratos: Who are you Raiden, do you relate to my father Raiden: My power/speed/and skills are beyond your father's Kratos: Lets put that to the test.
