I always advocate for Death Watch kill team made of: Minotaur, Flesh Tearer, Carcharodon, Black Templar, Space Wolf, Executioner, Blood Angel ( or other succesor), Angel of Vengeance, Red Talon and Marine Melevolent. Great combination of Savegry, Brutality, Bloodlust and Assholishness

I would say Black Dragons easily fall into the category of absolute brutality, any chapter that can weaponize mutated bone structures and convince heretics to jump off a cliff rather than face them in combat meets the criteria.

About "Blood in the Machine": the backstory is that another Inquisitor infiltrated the Flesh Tearers flagship to spy on them, and Gabriel found him and forced him to share the Black Rage from a Death Company marine. The Inquisitor survived, but was traumatised. Later, his student wanted revenge.

I don't get why everyone who guess at the Marines Malevolent's gene heritage goes to Iron Warriors. They hate any sign of weakness, and are ever so eager to see their mission fulfilled; even at the expense of Imperial lives. To me, that says Iron Hands. You know, the chapter that purged a planet after saving it from Xenos because they thought the inhabitants didn't fight hard enough? Maybe they're not tech obsessed, but Guilliman's boys can act like night lords.

I LOVE the Flesh Tearers. There are a few things to remember though, the 6th Legion chapters have to get mentioned. The propensity to "wolf out" means that they could be as brutal as anyone. Also important to remember that the 1st Legion will do whatever is required. . . whatever.

Grey Knights for 40k and for 30k it would be the Dark angels/ Dread wing when you just want to kill everything that exists on a planet.

The Minotaurs are by far one of the most interesting chapters. Far more interesting than Imperial Fists.

In the book “the red tithe” one of the night lords referred to the Carcaradons as “silent monsters” and ordered a retreat after killing his own warband leader, this cemented my love for the shark boys

On the bit of Seth, spoilers it was a lot more than that, Seth opted to aid Imperial forces but the Inquisitor constantly backhanded any attempts at he and his Flesh Tearers were for aiding the Imperial forces declaring them a necessary sacrifice for their goal. Afterwards the Inquisitor was threatening to use the artifact they secured, which caused the Red Thirst and Black Rage to be forcefully manifested, Seth ended up killing one of his own retinue and this snapped him out of it, the Inquisitor intended to wipe out Sanguinius' "cursed gene line." Seth then had a choice to make between butchering the already wounded loyal Guardsman the Inquisitor was using as a human shield, or allowing their escape and possibly damning entire sector's which the Blood Angels gene-line protects with the utmost ferocity. The Flesh Tearer's were already known for having a bad reputation of absolutely butchering everything in reach, which is why they deploy themselves into the thick of the enemy rather than closer to Imperial lines. After all, the Imperium is built upon martyrs.

Valrak; makes fun of Minotaurs and Marines Malevolent for suspected Iron Warriors gene-seed. Also Valrak; completely excuses the Khornate behaviour of a "not" totally loyal chapter of marines because they have Imperial Fists gene-seed. Never change man. You casting shade on the best of the 18 known founding legions (the fourth legion obviously), is always fun.

What about the Black Dragons? Sent on a mission against a Dark Eldar raiding force, secondary objective to rescue all the prisoners that filled the Dark Eldar ship. Black Dragons: fills the Dark Eldar ship full of oxygen and lit the entire thing on fire. “Primary objective complete. Sucks we couldn’t save the civilians.”

Love them sharks but black dragons should of got a mention too.

The Charcodens and the Minotaurs came to blows because the charcodans were pissed that the Minotaurs killed more lamenters than them in one battle, during the badab war.

I'm surprised the Iron Hands weren't mentioned. They once executed a whole third of a civilian population of a sector they had retaken from Chaos, to punish them for being weak.

I loved this video especially as the minatours were in there as I created an inquisitor marine chapter if the ordo chronos I wanted to use the minatour trait but obviously forge world didn't issue the trait yet for 9th that I know of any way I digress my chapters philosophy is like these chapters if the temporal knifhts can't solve it on a battle field or use other sources to do the job then just blow the whole thing up even if it means the planet or whoever in question has there ownem on it so be it but I seriously do like the alternate way people like yourself are now looking at marines and not this goody two shoes ultraminnes approach so keep it up and a great video as always

Just for the record the Carcharodons did not obliterate the site in the Corcyran massacre. They met their match in the Executioners (similarly implacable) who fought them at the sub chapter level and they both died though inflicting horrific damage to each other. Neither the Carcharodons nor Executioners mention this battle officially and the reason for this encounter is lost to history.

I like the theory that the Minotaurs have had a few different geneseeds over the centuries. A few hundred years ago, it WAS World Eaters geneseed, but they proved too unpredictable, so they were phased out and replaced with Iron Warriors.

Charcaradons are all but confirmed night lords in the first book on them (can’t remember it’s name)

i was always fascinated with pre heresy death guard and their wmd and destroyer unit focus. this mixed with their rather detatched and emotionless nature is alot more scary to me than the "omgsoangry faction".

The Knights of Blood were brutal but in the end they allowed Seth and other Space Marines to escape with one of the holiest relics of all sons of Sanguinius - their father's Feather. A piece of Sanguinius himself. Sett used it to hold the black rage at bay numerous times during the battle and it has immense value to all scions of Sanguinius. Maybe it will be the thing Sett needed to change his chapter's faith once and for all.

The author of the outer dark also ends at a triple lineage for the Carcharodons with world eaters Along with the two you talked about

The Star Phantoms are also heedless of civilian casualties and collateral damage - their main dispute with the Marines Malevolent is a philosophical one. The MMs have contempt for the dead as obviously being too stupid and weak to stay alive. The SPs revere the dead and so don't see any issue with adding to their numbers.

Iron hands are up there for me. There is an excellent novel about them taking on chaos and choosing to kill human poulance afterwards. It's a really cold feeling at the end as there is one marine who is sort of friends with a human and right at the point you think he is going to save them, he kills them. 😢 It also is a really interesting book on the morals of what they do because their reasoning is sound it just has no compassion.

Black Dragons!! They are way too underrated

30k-era Dreadwing are extremely brutal. They're pretty objective and clinical about it but yeah... genocide and all that.

Dark Angels are the low key most savage chapter. Think about it. Its difference between a crazy person on a train with a knife and a serial killer like ted bundy.

It is said that the Minotaur chapter master Moloc is probably the most skilled fighter out of all space marines. Mainly because he shows no weakness

The Gabriel Seth bit, about destroying that medical ship out of petty revenge, sounded like some Dark Angels shit. The whole idea of not giving a crap about collateral damage as long as the fallen are captured has sort of been a defining characteristic of them. Also, Interrogator Chaplains are just terrible.

Honourable mention: Mortificators chapter - who gave Watch Captain Artemis to the Deathwatch.

If anyone not read the Carcharodons books you should, cause they are really good, and have some amazing scenes and moments in the books and stories. One thing I will say, and that I think about them. They are not 19th or 8th Legion descendant. From everything I've read in their books and short stories, the two Legions, really don't match their aphetic and character within the stories. Yes there is the argument case of them being a descendant of the two gene-lines, and they've just developed their own culture and way of things as it were, it happens with other Loyalists Chapters. Look at the 13th's gene-line as well as the 7th's. But my counter to that, is that even down the gene-lines of successor Chapters, they maintain some level of characteristics to their parent Legion and Lord. And the for mentioned 19th and 8th Legions, don't really match the Carcharodons well. My guess is, they are one of the Lost Legions, based purely upon reading their books, and what I've heard of them in the Badab War and other conflicts they are mentioned in. But from what info I could gather on the Lost Legions, other RU-vidrs, the characteristics of one of the Lost Primarchs, does tend to match the Chapter quite well. And Tyberos, really is a close fit for that description. (Spoiler) Yes there is the exchange between the Ashen Claws Chapter and the Carcharodons in the 2nd book as well, not counting the Night Lord witch talking with daemons in the first book. But I'm not convinced they are 19th Legion descended. Their too different and have to much.... character, to be a gene-line of Corax, and yes I'm not an expert on the 19th so I can't really speak as though I do. But I think its a bit too much for them to be 19th. And as a Night Lords fan, I can say the Carcharodons don't really match the 8th's way of doing things. They go in for the kill, not to sow tear and fear like the 8th does. The Carcharodons are killers, not murders like the Night Lords. So I think they are a Lost Legion Chapter and think they fit the bill quite well. But that's my thoughts.

Never thought of the Minotaur's potentially being sons of Perturabo, I could see it. Given that they're background/aesthetic is based around Greek myth and they show no remorse (iron within), during the Badhab War they were keen to seize the war machines of the renegade chapters and they're exceptional at storming enemy positions.

This is why you will never hear about the Alpha Legion infiltrating the Blood Angels and their successor chapters. Alpha Legion infiltraitor: I am Alpha- I mean, I am Dante! Death Company Marine: No, you are HORUS! AL: I - I am Hor- HOL UP! o_O

Valrak didn't mentioned the subjugators although they are Imperial Fists successors (or maybe because they are), they just destroy everything without hesitation, I love them for this. Also you could name allmost any blood angels successors, I would include the flesh eaters.

Black dragon's. Kind to civilians but they go to extra lengths to alter their very body to be as terrifying and deadly as possible.

The grey knight, I think, are one of the most brutal. If you're not an Astarte then receiving their help means a death sentence as soon as their job is over.

You missed out on mentioning the Executioner Chapter as they are equally as brutal as the Black Templars and Carcharodons!

Hard to believe the dark Angel's aren't on here considering they've pissed off about every loyslist chapter including inquisition and grey knights. Azreal has been slapped by dragor himself and his honor guard didn't think twice about readying to kill him and how many times has Asmodai had to.be apologized for by azreal for his actions. If it was legions and not chapters I'd throw pre-sanguinius blood Angel's right to the top of the pile of bodies. Nothing could stand against the Revenant Legion

Minotaurs are obviously Iron Warriors. Their mobile fortress monastery the "Daedelos Krata" is guarded by a cadre of Contemptor dreadnoughts and it's interior is described as "Maze like" (if the name wasn't a give away, the Iron Circle analog and maze like interior should be) also the Minotaur is a beast or monster caged to do work against it's bidding. They're probably all either psycho-indoctrinated to levels that are brutal even in the 40k universe or they have some sort of bionic controls installed. Thallaxi Cohort Astartes Legion.

Best books are on the Charcaradons! Tiberius The Red Wake walking into a Tyranid spore drop pod with slake and thirst tearing the Flesh of Flesh Tearing Aliens to shreds. Man What a scene. Their backhistory is fascinating and the interactions against the Night Lords in Red Tithes. Just too awesome. I think its hinted that they are Raven Guard offshoot.

Dark Angels: - Wiped out both Lost Legions - Kill Inquisitors for fun. - Have specialized Chaplains that know how to break an Astartes. Something that not even the Inquisition or Drukhari even have the ability to do. - Still have the strength of an entire Legion (All their Successors actively work together, Can come together to become a Legion once again) - Have the most Terminators There are probably other things, but yeah... Dark Angels are badass.

It never really comes up but you know the Deathwatch have got to be utterly and efficiently brutal from a fluff standpoint. Always outnumbered, specially trained to kill certain xenos, using specialty weaponry to do so. I feel like they go into every battle expecting to not return, literally fighting for their lives every mission due to being spread so thin.

I thought I'd heard something about the Minotaurs' geneseed is Chimeric, and that it's thought it stems from both Iron Warriors and World Eaters. For how brutal they are, I'd believe it

The shark boys are hilarious! When you look at what they get up to it becomes a valid question of who they serve. Are they loyal? They perform the reaping. Are they chaos? They kill them too! Are they just straight up murderous bastards who aren't aligned with anyone? Maybe. They really live up to their name. Remorseless killers swimming through the void of space bringing death to all. Nasty buggers!

Sons of Medusa - more like loyal Iron Warriors Sons of Malice - they were very brutal even in the time they were loyal chapter, not to say about their cannibalistic manners.

Marines Malevolent aren't brutal, they're simply effective.

The Marines Malevolent have been shadow banned from a lot of Forge Worlds, because the AdMech got sick of their shit, so they use old and tattered equipment they maintain and repair themselves, or so I've heard.

Well Sanguinius Bloodline :D And the Charcharodons I would Love a mix between Night Lords and Raven Guard as origin. And as the first charcharodon Master Jago Sevetar that would be awesome :D

Flesh Tearers no question. Kill imperial citizens and Space Wolves, Murder inquisitors and about 10,000 Imperial Guard, Psychically send another Inquisitor insane and slaughter his retinue, exterminatus a planet to force another Chapter Master to hurry the hell up and take a planet, Chapter Master and High Chaplain want to kill each other every second minute, make their Primaris Captains fight the Chapter Master, and they’re the only chapter with chaplain so terrifying he can rally Death Company back after an attack. We are wrath! Flesh tearers are beyond awesome, even Knights of Blood have nothing on us.
