Nibali was pushing the group to attack. Afterward he had said in an interview something about it being a race and he shouldn't have to wait. That moved him to the bottom of my list of best cyclists.
Missing bigger controversies : 1) Sagan thrown out of the 2017 Tour de France 2) Nibali's crash on the Alpe d'Huez 3) Stage 19 shortened in the Tour de France 2019 and the classification changed
@@denkend8373 The only option ? What about restarting the race ? It has already be seen, even in 2019 in Dwars doors Vlaaderen. And it has been seen at even more crucial moments of a race, like in Roubaix 2006 when a train stopped the chasing group. The controversy also comes from the applications of the rules, which are very clear for cases like this, and nothing allows the commissaires to set a finishline somewhere on the course after the riders have passed it.
@ peter- Whatever, chief. Cavendish crashed out many a competitor back when he was able finish races with the bunch and was responsible for knocking guys out of races, not because of dq's, but bc they were injured so badly they were unable to continue. Him getting taken out by Sagan was karma, plain and simple.
People hanging their coats over the boarding? What are they thinking? It is so strange that even Benoot gets it fully stuck on his bike, after it crashes Sagan initially.
Do you think Sagan could have won if he hadn't fallen? Personally I think so, because he was at his highest level that year, look at the speed at which he accelerated without showing any sign of pain... And if he has been a little luckier on the Parix Roubaix I think he could have won the 2 monuments
But he was bringing Van Avermaet in his wheel. Van Avermaet was in the shape of his life in 2017, and he has the bad habit of beating Sagan in the sprints (a bit like Kwiatkowski).
Dumoulin was a real gentleman!!!, that kind of person/atleth are very rare, sometimes education or family values are a factor, there are many many excuses for not to do the right thing.
It is easier to ride on the side of the road because it is relatively flat, riding on the road with all those bumps is is not efficient, pleasant or otherwise. It's just faster, of course it comes with the risk of crashing because of the fences or idiots in the crowd.
That's the wrong question. The right one would be why are spectators hanging their coats on the inside of the barriers? It's not like they don't know riders pass close to the side of the road... Cycling has the worst fans in sports.
Drifting So basicly the best rider stay at the back of the group so they can save energy, the front rider fought with higher wind resistance than rider at the back
@@enricotimothy7759 drifting but no. The best spot 2 save energy is not at the back of peleton Even when there are 5 cyclist the best is 4th place then 3rd then last cyclist then 2nd hardest job has the 1st one
I want to know, why do they have to have so many team cars following them, yes i know they have spare bikes etc. But to me the cars are more dangerous near the bikers. .
O dang, and you think of nightmares where you're sitting naked in class...imagine having to strip down and take a p00p with so many cameras and people watching!
In a sprint you're supposed to stay on your line. Deviating like that is not allowed because you could easily squeeze your competition to the wall. At 8:43 one can see clearly that the Trek rider had to slow down to avoid crashing into him.
Road cycling and cyclists looks so fragile. On a mountain bike all of these crashes would have been recovered with a wheel drift instead of falling down and all of the broken bikes would have probably just had scratched handlebar grips or a dropped chain. I've been literally grabbed on the shoulder by a hostile person while riding MTB and they were the one who fell down not me lol. RIP road bois
Arnoud Huberts well, they waited at the start of the climb. They didn't know what to do. Eventually they started riding and I remember that Dumoulin climbed that mountain faster than anybody else
nah its not a fault of movistar, it's the Bahrain started to put up the pace so Quintana the leader just followed wheels till the summit, he didn't attack. He just must not let Nibali and other gc guys go.
I enjoy cycling but I do not understand rules of actual cycling so forgive me for this questions. What did he do that was wrong? How was Dumoulin a gentleman?
Joseph Edstrøm it’s not so much the actual UCI rules but rather the unwritten rules not to attack the GC leader when they crash or have a mechanical. In this case it was just a main GC contender looking after another. Which was not required but it’s a gentleman thing to do and make this sport wonderful to watch. Like others have said Quintana did not want to press on but Merida put on the pressure and he has to follow to not loose time to other GC contenders.
