DuloKnives did it again.... he made a crazy knife! perhaps the craziest knife we have ever seen! The Dulo Leuku uses K390! one of the best steels in terms of edge retention we have ever tried! not only that! it is laminated in N690 which is a good steel in itself! Finished with a Hamon finish, ivory micarta, mosaic pins and a stabilized wooden burl handle this knife is not only a beast but also a piece of art!

Probably not hard with proper hardware. I doubt hardware store $10 sharpening stones will work.

K390 isn't that terrible. Anyway no steel is with a decent set of diamond stones and Venev now produce "affordable" resin bonded ones

Once you get used to it not bad. Takes longer than other knives but you do not have to sharpen it often. Even missed and whacked my dulo on a rock while batoning, knife edge was fine 😳

Im sick of the rust i get on my terava skrama after removing the tacky looking black coating. What would be a good way to laminate it. Would spray on work?

Kevin J Renkavinski (Mega Woods Walker) passed away in January (Heart Disease). He was a Great Outdoor skills teacher. The outdoor community is now one family member short. He will be missed. Okay, serious question here. BARK RIVER is now carrying "Sharpening Emulsions". They report that their "CPM Cru-Wear" is too hard for traditional stropping compounds writing: "Traditional abrasives like Aluminum oxide and Silicon carbide just aren't hard enough to do the job adequately. CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride), is harder." You guys mouths were watering after you tested Cru-Wear against all the other top steels, did you have problems sharpening the Cru-wear? What compound did you use? AND enter K390 the New King...are you guys having any more difficulty sharpening these when the do dull? If these Super-Super Steels, now coming out, are as difficult sharpen as Bark River is saying, don't you think it is time for you two to do a program on how to best sharpen Cru-Wear and K390? Give us some info here, these steels are very expensive.

I've been waiting 6 months, Dulo said it would be 9 months. I ordered with black micarta instead of ivory but the price I believe is the same. The emails have actually auto deleted but if I recall it was just under 400 U.S dollars

It's a good looking handle but not to functional. It's a Leuku style knife but to short to be an actual Leuku. I don't like laminated steel no matter what it's made of. For me this would be a mantel piece and not a working knife.

For k390 we use naniwa diamond stones. Prepare to be poor though... Haha

Just ordered the Puukko version ten minutes ago, 260 eros including delivery to the UK the man is mad, thank God, I have seen other makers charge twice, three times as much for half the knife (you know what I mean) "How sharp is it? I don't know I only got the handle." Ten months waiting time, no problem for this, I can wait but barely.

Not totally related but maybe for a future vid could you guys look into Entrek knives? He makes a Scandi bushcrafting knofe as well as others. He uses 440c but the heat treat is well done and makes for a rugged knife!

Ima thinking about buying a Ka Bar Usmc, cause its just a Classic and I wanted to own it since I was a Child. Could you baton with it in long term use, or ist it just going to break very easy? And how well does ist cut? I know, it wont carve and cut like a Mora, but will it carve and cut as well as a Fallkniven or more as bad as a Lionsteel? Ima just asking, cause you own thus knife already and I dont want to buy something, which wont be used often (like my Lionsteel M5), cause ist doesnt work (carve,...) very well.

For a some time already I’ve been dreaming about a double leuku made from Japanese laminated carbon steel with white paper steel core. The laminated blade of this video seems to be very nice indeed but I prefer low alloy carbon steel. I need to make my dream come true somehow. It will be a perfect fusion of the knife making tradition of Japan and Lapland.

@@ssunfish Actually I have got something like that. Todor Hristov from Bulgaria has made me a really cool knife. It’s a traditional Finnish puukko knife in shape but has a laminated Japanese blue paper steel blade, birch bark handle and damascus steel cladding/bolsters.

That's great to hear and thanks for replying!!! I have just joined the wait list for Dulo knives. I hope to have a great set! I like laminated steel. I have one piece that is 410 stainless laminated to 26C3 which I'm told is of the composition of Hitachi White Paper steel alloy. I'm drawing up different designs to make the best for this one piece.
