The reason is India has little to no achievements in Football recently and hence the football team gets almost no news coverage in India. In Chess, Cricket, Hockey etc.. India has a strong team which has the ability to win global events. Same can't be said about Football where India struggles to dominate even in South Asia let alone the world

Basketball is also famous in 12 of those countries and also places 2nd in most countries after football. Basketball is more universally popular than cricket.
