I've always seen it as the game making you read the letter with a differrnt lens, I don't mind it. by that point in the game you probably already have a feeling she's dead

Mother 3 made me cry because it’s genuinely the most accurate portrayal of loss I’ve ever experienced in a video game and hit me WAY to close to home. Actually had a panic attack during chapter one because of how closely it parallel what I did when my father passed away

It actually took me by surprise when I started to cry. I THOUGHT it'd be the same ending as earthbound where everything and everyone us happy at the end but no, they all (presumably) die... Or just get lost or something.

No, don't worry. They all live and get a new world. Itoi confirmed they are all safe and happy. I was scared too when I saw the Mother 3 ending.

The fact that in Kirby Planet Robobot there is an ESP copy ability that makes Kirby look like Ness with an inverted hat just makes me appreciate both Kirby and the Mother series a lot more.

Japanese version would be called When Mother 3 Cries, or maybe even “When the Dogs Cry” to reference how only Boney has been by Lucas’s side since Hinawa’s death and thus is probably the only one who could mourn with Lucas.

I remember the time I battled N.K.C. I was grinding A LOT for Lucas' Awesome Cloth, so by the time I reached it, all my party members were level 65 or so. Piece of cake.

I missed out on so many early game enemy sprites like mr batty or the hog and thought, “oh I’ll get them later” then chapter 4 rolls around and all the enemy’s in the forest are new ones, I didn’t even get the flying eat backsprite, and somehow I missed out on the zombie dogs FRONT SPRITE

I've never beaten Mother 3 because I wasn't able to beat the porky bots near the end of the game... I didn't have enough resources to keep up with them and I couldn't go back to an earlier save! This was in middle school so I may be able to play smarter now as a 20 year old, but it's still devastating...

I honestly almost thought the enemy you forgot about was the Negative Man, cause you technically do not have to fight him, which would fittingly make it the saddest thing to be forced to defeat him

Played plenty of rpgs with missable things in them, but lucky for me I'm not a completionist, but some of these things were crazy unnecessary. Whole dungeons with enemies and chests that'd be lost forever after beating them. Most of this could have been avoided with a new game+ state, where you can redo the game a second time to attempt to get anything missed. But that hadn't caught on yet.

@@MonkeyNessIn the English translation for Mother 3 if you put "HARDMODE" instead of your name in the altar in Chapter 1 the game will switch to hard mode.
