Thanks for this! .It has been an ongoing question for me since V7 and I met. Favourite bike of mine. I bought a 750 new in 2020 ,put 16000 miles on it and loved everyone of them. Test drove the 850 when it came out and there was not enough there to make me betray my baby and replace her. Early 850`s had glitchy fueling with the Euro 5 coming in, and I just loved the raw feel of the 750. 2023 and someone stole my baby... it still hurts. So I bought an 850. Plusher seat but it is wider ,fueling improved over early model 850 but still needs work (upmap). Definitely a different feel . If I had not had my 750 nicked we would still be an item, but I have to concede the 850 is the better bike if you like covering miles and A roads and motorways are in your route, armchair seat better here too. Lighter clutch too. For those who bemoaned the weight increase of the 850 ,it is not empty,futile , porkiness but braced up frame and huge new swing arm that give noticeable handling improvements. 750 I miss you and wonder where you are ,850 I love you too and know where you are... tracker ,Lite lock, shackles , guard dog.
Unbelievable air cooled engine I ride the 850 stone through all mexico 4000 plus kilometers with temperature outside of 43C the bike between traffic inside cities and highway didn't overheating at all well done guzzi
I love guzzi, have owned a couple since 2000. And done 200,000km on a griso. They are a brand that has quirks, but they seem to take your heart ❤️ and it's hard to stop loving.
I just turned over 10,000 miles on my 2023 Stone with the 850 engine. It's been a joy to ride. It's a great do it all motorcycle while also being well-built and easy to service. I'll be honest though, I wish you could get it with the 1200cc Griso engine. This bike with nearly 110 horsepower would be a sleeper and an instant classic.
Bought a VII 50 2nd hand in the 80s as a kiwi on my OE in London. Didn't even know what it was. It was mint and on my test ride I fell in love. Thought it was punchy (biggest bike at home after graduating from my Honda SL100 to a Suzuki TS250 (best bike in the world) and cool and different. Rode it all around England and Wales and to work every day for a year...and then put a carrier on the back onto which I strapped an old backpack into which i placed a pup tent, a sleeping bag, and a sleep mat, some undies, maybe socks, and some wet weather gear from a farming shop. Rode it across Europe to Israel (yes a ferry was included in that trip). Adventure (one of) of a lifetime. Loved the brand ever since. Still think they're handsome. You can do anything on any bike really. Its up to you and your schedule how far in a day, and what roads you like. I like B roads averaging 70 to 80 kms. You can go a loooooong way in a short time. Ride safe all.
Thank you for sharing! They are quirky and different and full of character. Hard to do not fall in love with. In two days I changed my mind a few times whereas I’d like to own one or not. And now, when it’s only memories left of the trip,I think I would.
Started riding bikes 2 years ago. Test rode several things. People said “you’ll know when it’s the bike for you, it will speak to you.” Nothing else spoke to me like the Guzzi V7 850. It’s been an awesome 2 years on that bike. I grabbed a Himalayan last year as bike number 2. I love both brands so much. Cheers from the USA!
The looks the better bike but the headlight & speedo are such a step backward that l'd prefer the older version. Crazy that such a tiny amount of money of the bike could have such a disproportionately negative affect. I don't want digital stuff on a retro analogue bike....
The v7 special comes with old style twin speedo and rev counter dials, plus chrome exhausts and spoked wheels, and old style headlamp etc. Plus nice gloss paint finish on tank etc
My last bike was a Triumph T120, which had more hp, and was smoother. But, I enjoy my V7 more, I guess because it has more character. Also, love the shaft drive and larger fuel capacity.
TomBoy Great review! The Moto Guzzi V7 is a classic looking motorcycle. Both the 750 and 850 are great looking. The 850 is the way to go if you like long rides. I have a 750 Milano here in Canada, it's a hoot to ride, period! Rode a 850Special 2022 in Mandello and it feels more "grown up" improved fueling, torque, suspension, even the seating position is more comfy (I'm 5'9"), but in the looks department; I don't like the seat line (sitting more in the bike vs on the bike) and the humongous rear break like is in my opinion just too goofy. But still debating with myself of buying the 850. Maybe forever undecided.
Hi! I also have a Milano which i really like. I tested a 850 and find it much better, faster, and more solid as an experience. But I can't bare the design. They look, both stone and special, odd and unfinished in my eyes. So I bought the Milano. Yeap, i was sold by the beauty! I m also not sure if I made the right decision, but for now I don't regret! I have had and loved both the 750, and the 850 V7. If I had a 750 and just did local mixed riding, I would not have spent the extra money to upgrade. But, I have to do a lot of motorway miles, so the extra power is very useful. I have put 11K miles on my 2022 V7 850 Special and really love the bike. Adding a factory screen and luggage rack, with Oxford heated grips, it makes a really comfortable touring bike too. My wife finds it comfortable riding pillion, too.
My son bought a V7 when they first came out with the 850 upgraded model. I do enjoy riding the bike. It is an amazingly simple machine with just the right amount of modern technology to give the rider a classic riding experience while adding in sufficient conveniences. The pushrod air cooled V-twin is a lovely motor and the shaft drive works great and eliminates chain maintenance. The suspension is smooth and compliant, just right for this motorcycle. I ride a Harley Road King so for me the riding position is a bit too leaned forward but I could get used to it. This bike could easily be used for commuting or longer distance travel. . I tried the Moto Guzzi V85tt which uses a slightly more powerful version of the same engine in an adventure bike frame. I preferred the more upright riding position but the higher seat can be a challenge. Nice review of both the 750 and 850. Both are nice bikes and either would be a nice ride to own. For me I would definitely buy the 850.
En fin d'année 2023, j'ai acheté une V7 Spécial Edition surprenante machine, nerveuse agréable à piloter. Petit "reproche" j'aurais aimé avoir un peu plus d'allonge. Je suis parti pour quelques années avec cette machine et hâte que les beaux jours arrivent. ✌️
Interesting review. I run a 2005 Guzzi 750 Breva, 62,000 km so far and would agree that the brakes could be a bit better, though being a 78-yo of the old-school, I tend to use both simultaneously. Yes, the clutch is a bit heavy (they're a dry clutch, unlike most motorcycles) and the spec numbers aren't great, but they are great fun to ride. If I were to get the 850, it would have to be the Special, with the traditional twin analog clocks, as they are easier to read and look better than the single offset electronic gizmo.

Beauty of a woman, unfortunately I don't know much about these motorcycles that's why I can't give my opinion, since I bought the Royal Enfield Interceptor my perspective on low displacement motorcycles has changed!!!
I enjoyed that.Ačiu. I don't think many have compared the iii to the 850. It was interesting. The V7 stone 850 is my dream bike. It will be my next bike once I pay off the current one and daughter's uni fees😊. I reckon it will do me as daily ride and tourer once I bung on luggage. I think the GIVI metro bags would fit well. It is a lovely looking bike. You are right it is good they kept the looks as it has been lovely since they introduced it.
thanks for pointing out to the GIVI metro bike, I was looking for this type of luggage but ended up Kriega US 20 back pack and the givi Easy-T, 6 L aka EA106B for the tank. Should be the right mix for my V7 850 special edition I am picking up next Thursday🙏

Nice review and comparison. The V7 can be a bit lumpy at low revs but a piggy- back fuel controller sorts it out. Had 3 Guzzis and loved them all for the character. Was tempted to upgrade to the new 850 but have a Ltd edition V7III so I am reluctant to trade in even after 5 yrs and 27,000km. Love the agricultural old school feel where you have to listen to the engine more and plan your corners ahead. Yes I wish it had a bit more power. The new Corsa styling looks pretty cool though. No mechanical problems at all. I fitted better brake pads and tyres (RA3s) which improved braking and handling.

Your comparison captures the differences between these very similar bikes. If I didn't have one (V7III) I'd go for the 850. But I'm waiting for a new proposal from Guzzi: a V7 with the V100 engine would be great ! Hello from France.
You can adjust the revs alert and switch gear at higher revs on the 750cc. Regarding brakes, they definitely should be more aggressive. I have the 750cc and I just love it, not really a bike for high speeds so I just don´t feel the need of more power. Thank you for the review!
The red light on the 750 is probably when you reach 4500 revs and would indicate the bike hasn't yet reached 1500 km and/or that the dealer didn't change that after the first maintainance... since the maximum torque and power are beyond 4500 revs, it's a shame the light came on because it's fun going beyond and the chassis is more than capable coping with that. Suspension isn't its strong point, that's true and I wouldn't recommand doing long distances on it with a passenger. I own my V7 III Classic (so a 750) for a few years now and still like it a lot and have done a couple of travels on it to France and Spain with no troubles whatsoever. It's my first Guzzi (after 2 Kawas's and a Ducati) and I like it a lot, so if the day comes I would buy another motorbike, maybe the 850 will be the one but for now, I'm very happy riding the older generation.

The styling has hardly changed since the Guzzis of the 70's. With a few upgrades and some more power they could make a new Le Mans like the mkl from this platform.
I hope next year V7 will get engine from updated v85 (Euro 5+ and variable valve timings). It will be a shame if it will require a boxy catalytic converter underneath the engine.

I have a 2003 Moto Guzzi Breva (5 speeds) whith 25000km and after your info, I go on feeling I will not buy an 850 model. I have several mechanical and functional reasons; too extensive to explain here.
Anything but. The Guzzi’s carry their weight low down and are very easy to manoeuvre. The shaft drive is wonderful and avoids all the hassle of chain maintenance.
Absolutely agree! I owned a 2010 Bonneville T100 for about a year then sold it and bought a 2014 Guzzi V7. I was shocked how much lighter, nimble and quicker the Guzzi felt compared to the Triumph. The Bonneville had a really top-heavy dead weight feel to it and this was even with the Guzzi tank full of 5 gallons of fuel. I am still amazed that my Guzzi never feels top-heavy regardless of the fuel level. They are very underrated bikes…just give one a try, forget what the spec sheet says…
Easy Rider Tenerife rental said they are not problematic also I interviewed the semer in Cyprus who didn’t complain about any issues. After a few days ride I can’t personally tell you how reliable they are. Seams pretty solid, and pretty simple to do stuff yourself if you know what you’re doing.

Aunque supongo que la "u" y la "i" no tiene el mismo sonido en todos los idiomas, por lo que si tu no eres de habla Española o Italiana, es difícil explicarte, en palabras, el sonido de la "u" y la "i". Aqui en España hay gente que incluso dice erróneamente "Moto Guchi", (Incluso Google Translator lo pronuncia mal en Español...Moto Guchi) como si fuese la marca de moda Italiana Gucci 😂😂
