It sounds great. Not obnoxiously loud, less heat, less restriction and less problems. They do make a couple of devices to lower the voltage from the oxygen sensors leading to better fuel mixture throughout the entire RPM range.
@@stevegsus air cooled engine, should always run on the rich side for dureability. Keeping the cat, and just pulling the muffler yeilds wonderous noises as well 😁😁
Thanks for the reply Steve; that’s good to hear that it’s running cooler; yours is the E4, which had the big catalytic converter under the bike causing heat; where the E5 has the catalytic on the ends of the header pipes; it still sounds like from my reading whether it’s an E4 or E5 they were set up to run lean; so I don’t know if you can richen them up anyway, but adjusting the ECU mapping somehow but thanks I’ll keep tabs on your site to see any gains in the future. Take Care John
Bonjour, Et merci pour le partage Est ce que cette transformation a permis au moteur de mieux refroidir ? En effet , j’ai remarqué que le moteur du V 85 faisait des cliquetis lors de très fortes températures...
I bought the exact same pipe and said the exact same thing, welds looked amateurish would have been far better leaving welds as is instead of grinding them off! Did you need a remap ( sorry I'm commenting before eating all of the video) I bought a booster plus for mine too worked great didn t notive5too much difference when I instal9it but noticed it lots when I took it off ready for it's service at the shop
no need to remap but I do get a little bit of popping on de-cel. I've had some warranty work done on my bike at two different dealers and leave the pipe on and they don't seem to notice and/or care.
@@stevegsus You get the pop because of the secondary air injection. It drops some oxygen in the cat area to burn everything off and while you close the throttle you'll get a couple of pops. Nothing to worry about though. IF you install the baffles this will be less evident even though it won't harm anything. I've found that Ethanol free fuel works great with my Guzzi's and my Aprilia. The only bikes that didn't make much of a difference was the KTM and the BMW. For the Italian bikes I try to use ethanol free. By the way, those ethanol cure additives.....are all nonsense. They really do absolutely NOTHING.
I have been considering a V7 850 and from what I can gather the new 850 motor doesn't run very well when an aftermarket End can is fitted and the Baffles are removed but are ok with baffles installed. How does the motor fair with only the Cat removed? does it not run Lean or Rich? (Lumpy)
Hello Steve; thanks for the video; I have a 2021 version V85 which is the E5 and I am considering exhaust change to have the bike run richer and cooler; it sounds like you’d need either a v-booster plug or the Umap; to make the bike run richer due to the E5 leaner settings; have you done anything other than pipe change yet? And do you notice the bike to run cooler? Thanks, John.
Hi John - 6k miles on pipe now with no mapping or plug changes. Only issue is RPM surge on very cold warm up. Lasts for a minute or less. Bike running noticeably cooler. Definitely notice on legs and feet in summer time.
It sounds great but what are the concerns about causing the bike to run lean since you removed the cat? I've been thinking about buying a v85 and since I can't leave things alone when I buy them all of my bikes have been modified with exhaust and tuners I currently have three motorcycles now they all have been tuned with aftermarket devices because they all ran dangerously lean after removing the cats. Any updates on the subject?
