I’m 62 and often ride alone. I bought this ramp about two years ago after slipping on a regular ramp and almost breaking my leg and being pinned under the motorcycle. Luckily there was someone else at the trailhead to help me out. This ramp is one of of the best investments I’ve ever made. I have a one ton Ford truck which has a very high tailgate, so I bought the 6 step ramp. I just start my bike and feather the clutch as I walk it up the ramp to load. Easy peasy even for an old man. My truck has a 6.75’ bed and I can just barely close the tailgate with the ramp in the bed. No, I’m not affiliated with Step Ramp in any way, and I paid full price for my ramp. It’s pricey, but worth it in the long run.
I'm 58 YO and bought the same ramp three years ago. I was using the ramp while feathering the clutch at the trail and I dropped the bike, which was nearly impossible to get up off the ramp. As I get older, I may look into a trailer. I love the ramp, but I don't have enough strength to push the bike up. I have to throttle it, which has to be done just right, or bad things can happen. I have often considered riding it up the ramp and hitting the brakes in the bed, and may try that one time. Once I do it a couple of times, I'll probably be all set. Great ramp, but still a little sketchy if you don't have the strength to push it up. My bike is 250#.
100% worth the price. Ive been using mine now for about a year and I love it! The build quality is excellent and makes loading and unloading the bike so much easier. I have the five step and my truck is a F350 with a 4" lift and 35" tires. Would be nice to have the longer one but this way I can push the ramp in and close my tailgate. Even with the shorter ramp its still not that steep for me.
Pretty neat eh! Looks good and is so functional! one thing I do notice with most ramps is the anchor points are set too low on the ramp to make them effective, recuring them with the strap as far UP (top of the Ramp) as you can make the ramp a lot more stable and safe!
Too bad the ladder doesn't come off so you can swap sides if you need to get a bike in a narrow space on the left side of the bed. For example if you have 3 bikes in the back and need just the left bike to be loaded unloaded. In my case, I have a drawer system in the bed with a dedicated space for bikes on either side of the bed.
I use this thing every time now. The weird angles my ambulance has me at makes this ramp insanely nice to have. I still ride it in sometimes when I use my truck. This ramp is way more versatile than a regular ramp. I don’t NEED it. I want it. It’s nice to have.
