Another funny story about Lemmy: He was a life time Jack Daniels-Coke drinker. Rumours said he downed a bottle of Jack through the day for decades. Not long before his passing his doctor told him to watch out for his nutrion being a bit healthier because of his age and his overall health condition. So he switched to (true story) Wodka-Orange juice. Thats Lemmy.

The first time I saw Motorhead, I had the privilege of experiencing them in a relatively small club, called The Birch Hill Niteclub, in Old Bridge, NJ. After the openers, I remember watching a roadie put a fresh bottle of Jack, and, two packs of Marlboros next to Lemmy's enormous, battle scarred cabinet. Followed by Lemmy saying, "We are Motorhead. We play Rock 'N' Roll." Then, launching into this song.

They've got 40 years worth of music.. and there's a lot of hidden gold there.. with a lot more variation in sound than you'd think. Some great albums to check out songs from .. Another Perfect Day, 1916, Bastards, Overnight Sensation, and Inferno.

@@mickyart , just watched this, it's in Japanese, but has subtitles (cc ) BAND-MAID 20200118 J-WAVE - SAPPORO BEER OTOAJITO [English sub/CC available] (MISA Solo Interview). Easy to search on RU-vid. It's a good interview, the main thing I liked is that she mentions Paz Lenchantin as a major influence. That made my day as Paz is one of my favourite bassists. Considering the fact Paz has played in Perfect Circle, The Pixies, The Entrance Band and many others, that's a good influence to have. Also a good bit about evolving to a heavier sound, hence the Lemmy vibe for me.

@@savitrisdisciple Heeey!! Just been listening and following with the english subs (thank god for those) and it's a really, really great interview (arigatou gozaimashita, for giving me heads-up for that!!! :-) )... Great to check on her influences, the grunge influence, Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, Radiohead and even RHCP. She does like/come from a heavy background, maybe Lemmy is not aligned with all the bands she mentioned but there is surely the heavy sound getting her close to power-bass players like Lemmy... and by the way, if you listen to "The Dragon Cries" there are parts of MISA that gets me thinking of another "bass-monster": Geezer Butler ... As for Paz Lenchantin, I already seen somewhere else MISA referencing that name as a major influence... and that get me thinking I should really check Paz out - I used to love The Pixies but I only listened a lot that "Surfer Rosa" album of 1988, and a few songs more but always from those earlier days, so I didn't even knew that Kim Deal was not in Pixies anymore ... so I will check Paz Lenchantin for sure... and also the Mexican band MISA mentions (Ruido Rosa) - I really like to explore these sides of the musicians ... for example: I was never much into Carlos Santana but because of Kanami, I really want to "understand" where Santana left his mark on Kanami's playing (although I already saw Kanami stopping a guitar solo and make a small part of Santana's "Europe" then returning to her own improv solo :-) ) Anyways, again, arigatou gozaimashita for leading me to this great MISA interview!!!

This song epitomizes this journey your on Kel. A band connecting with its audience and the listener having that "a-ha" moment after listening to their songs. They never reached to the levels of success that bands like Maiden and Priest did but they were revered by the Metal community for their unwavering commitment to make kick-ass music and not sell out like Metallica did. As a matter of fact Lemmy stated that he made more money writing 2 or 3 songs for Ozzy for No More Tears than he did for all the music he wrote for Motorhead up to that point in 1992. That's fucking shameful in my opinion. Great band, tragic loss. RIP Lemmy! \m/

I saw Motorhead on their final tour . It hurt to see Lemmy so frail, but he gave it all on stage for his fans even in failing health.

Thum Skrew but chase it with the version that he did with Hawkwind (the band he was fired from prior to Motörhead). He wrote Motörhead for them originally. Also.. Lemmy sang on one Hawkwind song... their only radio hit.. "Silver Machine". Great song.

Thum Skrew personally I kinda prefer the version on On Parole... which they recorded first, but the record company didn't release til 79 after they'd gotten some fame. Just prefer the sound of it.

I saw Motorhead on almost every tour from 1981 til 2014. Most of the shows were in clubs that held less than 1,000 people. Purely the best live Rock & Roll band ever. I ran into Lemmy a few times, he was happy to chat a bit or sign an autograph. While I have always liked the line up of Lemmy, Wurzel, Wizzo and Mikkey Dee. The original three hold a special place too, and if not for Robbo, I would have been left out in the cold for a show at First Ave he made sure I got in without a ticket. The best show for me was Motorhead, Slayer and Overkill at First Ave in Minneapolis (Capacity 1,500 Crazy Mother F@*KERS).
