We being our porting and performance series today with the Firestorm Zeda 80 (a.k.a The Triple 40)
In this video I will examine the motor, setup the degree wheel, measure the port timings, and break-in the build.
Stock performance during break-in on 26"wheels with a 36t sprocket.
Top speed 29mph flat ground at about 5000rpm... This is not as important until after break in, as the motors alway run better after the 1st tank.
Engine kit: www.bicycle-en...
Road Map after break-in:
Part 2: Stock top speed, 15mph to 30mph time.
Repeat test with pipe.
Part 3: First cut, retest performance.
Part 4: Bike Berry Deluxe/WC80 pipe vs MZ65 Clone
Part 5: NT vs. PZ19,20, and 22 Carbs
Part 6 Advance Porting
Part 7: TBA

I would love to see us come out the end of this series with good ballpark numbers for optimal port timings! There is literally nowhere on youtube that has even attempted to put that kind of specific info out there for everybody. Of course I realize that every one is not going to be exactly the same, and different people will be using different parts, however with some baseline numbers ALOT of folks can be helped out and I think its a great idea starting from the stock outta the box like this! I look forward to seeing more, thanks!

Based off of every cylinder I have work on in the past, we will be able to give a safe universal cutting measurement that should work well on nearly any motor, without the use of a degree wheel. I'll be sure to include it early in the series.

I really appreciate your videos, I just got into the motorized bike game myself, it's been an amazing hobby, I also have a 47mm piston 40mm stroke (not a Zeda but a BFG bottom end) with a bunch of frankenparts. Funnily enough I'm about to get a new cylinder (not a G4 but should still be good with any luck) and was going to have a friend port it and it's nice to see the process going into what is needed to find timings and get a baseline for porting it. Thank you so much for everything you do. You've given a lot of great advice and it means a lot to me that you keep persevering and trying new things. If you're interested, the full setup is a Trek Mountain Sport 800, 6 spoke mag wheels (still going strong so far) w/Michelin Protek Cross tires. 11 front tooth 32 rear secured w/12.9g bolts, the engine is a BGF 80 "super racing" bottom end, basic cylinder (changing because the casting is complete potmetal, and a high compression head running a 63 jet on the "racing" carb (19mm Runtong). I'm hoping to get a felt faker frame at some point w/adjustable damping forks and see how well it rides after. Hope you have a great day, and safe travels on your break in! Looking forward to the next video!

I have 4k miles on a Kasei 1e48f 63cc powerhead , 2.2k miles on a Zanoah g430 and only problem besides very light maint was broken starter rope on kasei at 600miles and new fuel lines and filters , also dismantle and cleaned Walbro carb on Zanoah cause fuel line cracked at filter in the tank . Ive had both these engines 2 1/2 yrs , never been inside of them and whats amazing is they both run better than new . I primaraly run Echo Red Armour oil and can only get 87octane non eth fuel so i use octane booster to around 91 octane seems the sweet spot at 32 : 1 mix .all street miles I want to try these type engines but when i do i want a really hi quality outta the box engine , but china dont seem to take us seriously . Had my eyes on the new moto 85 but the cylinder has tiny fins designed for forced air and they already have wristpin trouble . Wish Japan or Taiwan would notice us as china dont give a sxxt

To try and get more life out of my gas tank mounts and clutch hand lever pin. Before installing, I put some JB weld around the base of each gas tank threaded stud (sanded a bit,cleaned, added JB weld) and a little dab of JB weld on the bottom of the clutch lever pin where that flimsy aluminum washer is. I seen some people using a dab of solder. I'm not sure how much longer it'll make it last but it was only 25 cents worth JB weld.

Interesting... I'm new to this stuff. What is the "blow-down" term (the 14 degrees)? I'm still trying to understand and amazed at how engines work. Currently using oscilloscope and pressure transducers to plot how engine pressures work (especially the 2 stroke) and their waveforms.
@logainfalsedragon3587

Blow down is the 2 stroke term that's the same as valve overlap on 4 stroke motors
@LAHover
@LAHover 2 года назад
Sorry for the late reply. Blow down is the amount of degrees between exhaust open and transfer open. Will cover it more later, but in general the more blow down the better. As it allows more time for the exhaust gas to escape without mixing into the intake charge.

Your not so much limited by the angle of the motor, as you are by the angle of the carb. At some point a steep angle will start messing with fuel delivery. Ideally you want the top and bottom motor mounts to set as flush on the frame as possible to avoid stressing the frame.
