I test drove the carrera, carrera s and the carrera 4 gts back to back at the dealership. Shocking how different each one felt when they all look the same! On my GTS test drive I came upon a chap test driving a maclaren 570S and invited him to 'go my way'. Despite all he did, there was no way he could get away from the gts - and seemed to be much more 'squirrely' and noisy (and oil fumes!) than the GTS. PS the Porsche dealer was nice as pie and offered me the gts free for a weekend to see if i liked it. Bravo
Wow, I just watched the '86 Vette Retro Review before this. *****'s videos are remarkably consistent 20 years later: same 80s narration style, similar camera cuts, same old-school graphics... They all feel like Retro Reviews!
Porsche 911 GTS 991.1 naturally aspirated engine screams pure music compared to newer models running through turbos. An instant classic. Get one why you can.
This car is amazing just unbelievably expensive. Can't wait to see when they put the turbo 420hp and 406ft torque engine like in cayenne s next year if it'll be noticeably faster. Last year of the naturally aspirated.
yeah it seems expensive until you drive it. all the quality and the feels you get when you drive it, the grip on this car is unbelievable. my brother has one and its undeniably an awesome machine for its price.
The turbo 991.2 GTS is monstrously fast for sure, especially with a tune. But the NA 991.1 GTS is just magnificent with the snappy response and wailing sound all the way to redline 😍
Comparing apples and oranges. A 911s owner like me will never sell his car to buy at Corvette at any price. On my 3rd one and own other great cars like a 475hp S4. I sold the other 2 911's for more money then I paid for them. One after 2 years and the other after 5 years.
Porsches are GREAT cars but they are hugely underpowered and overpriced. They are losing in the HP battle and each day you have to ask yourself, why would I pay 140K for 430 HP Porsche when I can pay 90K for a C7Z06 that has 650! Although there are many purist out there, that automotive juxtaposition has plauged many gear heads. Although I hear all future Porsches will be turbos, we all know the increased power will also result in an increased price.
Just comes down to what u prefer. Would u rather drive a Cadillac, Lincoln or a Bmw, Mercedes? Which one would impress your parents, girlfriend or friends more? U want wrangler jeans or $200 jeans? It's about quality and brand perception. Meaning u buy $200 pants because u know it's the best. All this Horsepower talk is not the reason people buy Porsches or German cars. The guy in the 911 is chill, relaxed. The guy in the Z06 is a badass beat u to light. 2 different type of buyers n they usually don't cross shop. So your reasoning of why would someone pay more for less, but in actually their getting more. It's called brand recognition, that's what your paying for. Everybody recognizes u have to have money to drive it.
+FroopieLoopies - Different animals all together. Corvettes are owned by led foots, about 70% of owners never even taking their cars to a track. Porsche is a much higher quality car that does everything exceptional. Ask any Vette owner, they'll tell you their backs are destroyed from the ride. I'd trust a Porsche Flat-6 over an LS or LT too
It's not always about the HP #, you don't buy a Porsche for that reason. The handling, the feel, the sound, the look, the quality, oh and they can be damn fast too. 911 turbo S is one heck of a car.
