G'day folks.
So after 11,000 km using the Motoz Tractionator GPS tyres I figured I had enough experience to be able to give them a good honest review.. There is obviously compromise with any 50/50 tyre out there, but these are pretty damned impressive in my opinion... and yes, my rear tyre is currently in 'mostly off-road' mode, but I'll be swapping that back to 50/50 for my continued travels now that I'm not spending a lot of time off-road.
www.motoz.com.au to find out more about the Motoz Tractionator GPS tyres.
On top of what is a pretty in depth review of the tyres I also have a shirt GIVEAWAY for you.. if you happen to be a Size L or XL then perfect.. be sure to watch to the end for it!
This video is NOT sponsored by anyone, I had to purchase my own tyres, and Motoz were not aware this video was being made.. It's just my findings after 11,000 km on their tyres.
Thank you so much for subscribing to my channel and for your continued support and encouragement to make even more videos for you.

So I'm going to give you guys a bonus here.. the rear tyre shown in this video with 11,000 kilometres on it already lasted me until I arrived in Alice Springs and did a grand total of 21,000 kilometres. It is highly likely that I could've kept using them for about another 2 - 3,000 km. But I decided to change them at that point. Believe me when I say that if you want a tyre that will last for a long time and take just about every type of surface you can throw it at, these tyres are top-shelf tyres without the top-shelf price tag!

That rear tire on the bike is set in the "mostly offroad" direction not the 50/50 direction. The side lugs would angle back from the center in 50/50 and forward in the offroad setting.

Yeah, I had just had my rims changed and hadn't realised that'd been done.. I corrected that in the next video talking about the modifications.. Then went and had the tyre turned around. 😉

I have fitted a set of these tyres to my SuperTenere recently for a trip from Albany (WA) to Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Leonora, Leinster, Wiluna, Nullagine, Marble Bar, Shay Gap, Port Hedland, Derby, Gibb River road and Kununurra (as much dirt as possible) before hitting the bitumen back to Perth. Temps were 35C+ all of the way. The tyre still has much rubber left on the rear so I am impressed, but the front is different. It sends high frequency vibrations up through the bars whilst on sealed roads so I would look for an alternative. But durability and grip is certainly there in all but the softest of conditions. Off road I was running 30 psi in the rear and 25 in the front.
@GlobalWalkabout
@GlobalWalkabout 2 года назад
Hey John, thanks for the feedback. I've also noticed some vibration at times from the front, usually however I increase the pressure slightly. That generally stops it. Because I'm not running on dirt/sand etc all the time, I run at maximum pressure both front ave rear. Of course I can drop pressures by the roadside if I need to, but so far I've never felt I had to. I've now got 16,000 km on my rear tyre and plenty of tread left. I'm super impressed with that tbh.
@GlobalWalkabout

BTW, that sounds kinda an excellent trip.. I'll be over in WA in a few weeks I guess.. Leaving Victoria tomorrow or the day after (depends on how I feel as I travel, LOL)

Interesting that your handling changed for cornering, as mine does the same thing with the original Motoz tractionator tread design.
@GlobalWalkabout
@GlobalWalkabout Год назад
I just found that I could corner rather aggressively.. Which was nice, of course part of that might've been my being more confident in the bike and my riding of it.. But they are grippy tyres for sure.

Great video. This is the tire going on my adventure bike tomorrow. Watched to see if anyone has mounted in the more aggressive position. Thinking best to do 50/50 as you said may be better for longevity. To bad I'm 6 months to late cus I wanted that shirt!!! Safe riding Scott
@GlobalWalkabout
@GlobalWalkabout Год назад
Hey Scott, great last name 😊 I had mine in the mostly off road position for a couple of months after it accidentally got refitted the wrong way around. It might've shortened it's longevity a little bit, BUT, I still got 21,000 km out of the tyre.. I did find it a little noisier, but, it tractored through mud with no problems (look for the video bogged and dropped or can I even get out, it was one of those two where the bike was almost on the sump guard).

Thanks 👍 Yup, and after I'd recorded all of this I was looking at the tyres and realised that the last time I had the rear tyre off the mechanics put it on the wrong way round (so it was on 'mostly off-road' mode).. but that's ok because I was doing all that riding around the trails around Grafton, so it worked just fine. I actually had the tyre turned back around to 50'50 mode yesterday.. So I can confidently say that the tyres perform pretty damned nicely on road in mostly off-road mode. 😉 They'd look great on the KLR650 mate..

Actually, after a day or two using them I didn't really notice it anymore and just carried on riding normally.. I think it was probably because they were the most aggressive tyres I'd ever fitted to the front of a bike.. (I also get the impression that the mechanic who originally fitted them may not have put enough air in them, which probably made a huge difference!)

I want the shirt Simon! 😉 Thanks so much for the timely review, I purchased a set of the GPS for my T7 and am yet to fit them. I am currently running Tractionators, an adventure on the rear and a rallz on the front….they can get a bit iffy on the wet tar but awesome everywhere else, got some big road rides coming up hence why I got the GPS, but everyone saying how shit they are in the wet had me a little concerned…..definitely going to give them a test, thanks mate 👍

Excellent mate, I'm sure you'll do fine with them.. They're a good tyre. But like any tyre they can spin up in the wet of you go silly with them, specially when they are cold.. In a straight run when the tyres are cold (I mean not just from sitting all night but 4am in winter cold too) I can get the traction control to cut in a bit.. But that's at full power with a quickshifter! (and I'd only do that in a straight line... But I'd get that with most tyres in the same conditions I think)

These are likely the tyres I'll be placing on the Himi soon. The OEM rear tyre has lasted 6000km. Not bad, but it's not great compared to these, and tyres like the Mitas E07, which are comparable to these. @Garnfast has a set on his 1200GS and they have lasted about 15,000 until they hit the tread wear markers. That's good value. As for wet weather grip. I hear (or read) that a lot online about lots of tyres. I have Metzeler 888 Marathons on my Harley and I out corner most of the riders I ride with. I was told they have poor grip in wet weather and when cold. I'm on my second set of exhaust pipes due to wearing them down on right handers, and my second transfer case cover due to grinding a hole in the first one. I am not gentle around corners, as @hachewie will attest to. I am yet to find the grip limits of the tyre that was said to have no grip. In fact, I reach the chassis limits of the bike before I have run out of grip. So, bullshit indeed. Which is coincidentally the first sign I learnt, as I dated a hearing impaired girl in high school very briefly.
@GlobalWalkabout
@GlobalWalkabout 2 года назад
Yup, you're definitely a rough rider, hahah.. As long as you are having fun though, right? I had my bike leant right over on the Putty Road and yeah, I didn't scrape the pegs (though I must've come close), but the Africa Twin has heaps of clearance, and I'm a pussy.. 😂 I definitely think they'll be great on a Himi.. I've seen these tyres do 24,000 km before, but yeah, it'll probably depend a lot on what sort of surfaces you are running on and how hard you are riding I guess.. But to be honest, anything above 12-13k will be great, because that's the best I've ever got out of any previous brands. 😉

I can happily say that I'm about to clock up 20,000 km on my rear tyre, and I think it would probably do a lot more if I hadn't had several long trips on motorways (like a thousand km) and on other long, straight roads where I can't even lay it over at all.. But I'm definitely stoked with my decision to run them.

Hello, Simon! Hope you're well :) I decided to have my Christmas in April, so I went ahead and ordered a pair of the MotoZ RallZ tires for the Africa Twin. I found a MotoZ dealer who has some in stock, and they have been ordered. Probably ship out on Monday, and then a week or two to get it here. :) I figured I wasn't going to skimp on tires, and the mileage the MotoZ gets compared to my second choice of tires is almost twice as many for only about 50% more in cost, and the Motoz gets much better traction in all conditions than the other tire. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

Great review. Im curious... what's your usual speed on tight twisties on the tarmac dry and wet? I have a Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR and it took me to tight concrete road twisties in the mountains, 2 hours of non-stop cornering, speeding at about 50 to 60kph and late braking to negotiate tight turns at about 30kph using the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR on my Benelli TRK-X. No doubt the Motoz can deliver on off-road. Im just wondering how it will fare on the tarmac on tight twists and banking. Thank you again. Would really appreciate your feedback. Im considering

Hey mate, thanks for asking.. So if you check out this video and the ones around that point ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-C7VTE5xQqlU.html You'll find that I corner pretty hard, in fact I can't remember if it made the cut or not but at one point while cornering I commented that I was leaning down far enough that I could hear the road chewing at my tyres. I didn't have any little rubber nipples on the edge of the tyres at all after that trip, I wore right to the edge of the tread, but I did it with a fully loaded bike too.. So I don't ride hard like that during wet weather, but I'm not scared to push it a little if I know the roads and know they aren't generally slippery. But, I will say, I corner hard and fast when I'm in the mood and never once thought the tyre was going to loose grip! I did that for 21,000 km on my first rear tyre and the only reason I had to replace the tyre was that I was wearing down the middle too much riding on straight roads in the desert.

Great review Simon ☺️. I will look into if they make any tyres that would fit the Tracer. If I can afford to it would be a good idea to have some tyres that suit both gravel roads and tarmac for while I'm touring on the mainland. Good luck with your giveaway, I won't enter as the shirt would be too big for me so it should go to someone who can wear it with pride, but I will definitely share your video anyway ☺️
@GlobalWalkabout
@GlobalWalkabout 2 года назад
It might be too big, but that'd be kinda funny.. Yeah, I'm not sure what the tyre sizes are on the Tracer, but there is a fairly reasonable selection of them on the Motoz website. The best thing about the tyres for you (the same as for me to some extent) is the ability to get a whole lot of tarmac km out of them before they wear down...

I've literally ridden hundreds and hundreds of km in all levels of rain and never found it to be any worse than any other motorbike tyre, but that may be simply because once its wet I moderate my riding style based on the weather.. But there are several videos on my channel with me riding in torrential rain with no drama at all.. Though, soon enough, you'll see me put them to the test in something that even the most experienced riders would consider proper rain.. ☔😉

I can't say I've found them to be any more of a problem on pea gravel than anything else I've run.. I used various different tyres on my CB500X over the 55,000 km, and my council loves using the gravel, dunno why though.. it's horrible stuff. Clay based mud is definitely a challenge, but when I had the tyre in the 'mostly off-road' set up that is what I went though the deep mud with.. but just riding on slippery clay stuff, ugggh... I thing full knobby tyres are probably the best for that..I guess, though I'll avoid that sort of surface if I can. 😂
