Can we please get a full recording of the show, like how they did with Hamilton ?? Some of us can't travel and would love to see the entirety of this masterpiece such a beautiful performance ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Unlikely to ever happen. Pro shots are extremely expensive to film (actors’ contracts and all). And basically, if your musical isn’t uber popular and famous (like Hamilton level), no producer is going to want to front the bill for a costly pro shot that won’t make them any money. Hamilton happened because it had all of the right things in place: 1. It’s an extremely popular musical, 2. Lin Manuel Miranda is a famous person in the mainstream, and they wanted his performance preserved, and 3. Disney was willing to front the bill for the pro shot. Moulin Rouge has none of those things.
Anyone writing negative comments: these two are UNREAL live. I've seen them once and they impressed me so much I'm going back to see them again. Please keep in mind with television broadcasts, microphones, and sound mixing, it does NO one justice in comparison to seeing and hearing these voices live, properly mixed, and in the context of the entire show. Ashley , Derek, and the cast KILLED this!! Congrats all :)
I hate to be a hater and font mean to be but like they're using their own in house mics and they're plugged into ot to broadcast but like even IF There's like not one live recording from anyone or snippet of him sounding unreal or great lol He's a beautiful dude and great I just think the voice isn't suited for the role so much? I that orbhe could use a tune up to know? I don't sound great In everything I think but like for Broadway? Come onnnnnnn lol
@@miloc6507 someone’s in another comment said he was having some vocal issues and they wouldn’t do another take. He sounded amazing when I saw him at Broadway at Bryant park a few months ago
He's singing down a key, which he definitely did not do when I saw him live. My best guess is that he's got a cold or something that's keeping him out of his higher register

I hate it. Jamie muscato, the new west end lead dom simpson, and Aaron tveit were incredible. This guy just sounds off key and out of control. Must be a nepo

As someone who LOVED the film, I was kind of disappointed that this medley is different than the film (I'm so glad they kept Heroes). Klena and Loren are wonderful, though!! :)
Big big fan of the movie and the soundtrack. I'm happy and impressed that they updated the song choices for this yet kept some of the original pieces in. Great performance and would love to see this live! We definitely need a Broadway version soundtrack!
@@fernanderings The CD is horrible. The live performances were/are so much better. Have now seen it 17 times and cringe when I listen to some of CD music.
I was lucky enough to see Moulan Rouge in San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre and was so blown away at Connors vocals and acting that I went back twice more to experience the excellence of the production and cast 👏👏
Yes, I thought so too! CONOR RYAN IS AN UNBELIEVABLE TALENT. His rendering of Christian is out of this world. This performance however is the broadway production and another artist is playing Christian but he can’t even come close to Conor’s magnetic performance.
It's great to have this video of ''Elephant Love Medley'' with Derek Klena and Ashley Loren, but the sound is kinda disappointing and doesn't do them justice. It oughta be louder. i heartily recommend a video of Derek and Ashley singing ''Come What May'' from the Curtain Up Broadway Festival; recorded in Times Square. They sound sensational. Thanks to bwaySHO for posting it on RU-vid.
I watched this spectacular show last year and am completely in love with moulin rouge, it was so lucky to visit while Derek and Ashley were playing. planning to visit the shows all over the world, hopefully this year Korea and Japan :) and I really wish the Broadway casts to perform in Japan so so bad
The 2022 US touring cast/show is way better than the broadway cast/production! I was literally blown away by Conor Ryan and Courtney Reed! Had to see it 3 times.
Ahhhhhhhhhh I wish I had seen these two last night on Broadway. There was another Satine which was extremely disappointing and Derek got sick and had to leave... Make sure you check the cast before buying your tickets!
It's hard to beat Tony winner Aaron Tveit as the original Christian, and I'm so happy Derek is now playing the part. But I'll add that Conor Ryan and Jack Cahill-Lemme are both doing an amazing job in the national tour, and deserve bravos galore.
I wish they'd get real singers like these two when they make movie musicals instead of casting famous actors that aren't real singers!!!! Those movies would be way more enjoyable!!!
Agreed, but I'm going to see it for the 6th time this weekend. With every cast change I've still loved it. It's hard not to compare, but I go because it's a burst of happy to me everytime.
this part needs the "greatest love songs" to make the magic works , not just a random favorite song playlist . it's kind of boring until the original madley was perform.
As much as I enjoy the 2001 film, the 'Broadway ''Moulin Rouge!'' is so much better. And one of the show's biggest champions is Baz Luhrmann, who directed the original movie. He's raved about the stage version and seen it on Broadway and on tour in L.A.
Because these are pop songs, he needs to do more classic musicals, his voice is so rich and powerful. I’m looking forward to hear his Sunset Boulevard.
Granted pop doesn't show off his range but he actually doesn't bad? He sounds fantastic and actually like that his voice isn't a carbon copy of Aaron's 🤷🏽♀
I’m guessing they wanted to update them since some of them were older and not as well-known. I don’t mind it necessarily but I do wish they could’ve preserved what was already in the medley and just add it onto it instead of rewriting it.
I love the film and was thinking of seeing the live show. But I'm just being brutally honest. This has put me off. It comes across very am-dram and cheesy on the stage. Maybe it's the way it's filmed and would better live.
Movie musical and Musical on Stage literally have different medium, and each have their own technique. Movie is able to catch micro facial expressions and whisper. Unfortunately in stage, those things are impossible. Hence singing style in Les Mis movie and stage musical was different
Hence the name is Moulin Rouge! The Musical. They have to project into a large audience and can't mix post production. Like the other comments say, if you're sitting in the cheapest seats, there's no way to see facial expressions unless you have binoculars. They have to show a range of emotions just using their voice and large movements. Also most of the medley are songs the original singers belt to. They're dramatic and heartfelt. It's just what singing live without backing vocal is.
We need more original musicals on Broadway. Broadway musical performers have become impersonators and karaoke hosts at this point. The artistry has nearly disappeared at this point. This constant need to make musicals for people who don’t like musicals is going to make the art form extinct.
Except that much of the new material arriving on Broadway and drawing in the audiences that are actually buying tickets is either revivals (Company, Music Man, Funny Girl), star vehicles and pet projects (Also Company and Music Man), jukebox musicals and bio-shows (MJ, Tina, Moulin Rouge), and pop culture adaptations (Frozen, Spongebob, Mean Girls). When you look at the listings for the last few years, this is really the stuff that is keeping Broadway afloat. As far as actual, original concepts for new musicals, for every Hamilton, Come From Away, and Hadestown you have fifteen A Strange Loops, Flying Over Sunsets, and Paradise Squares that don't even make 400 shows. Broadway is, at the end of the day, a business and when things sell, they're going to create more of them until they stop selling.
Maybe because they’re technically playing two different characters, things change in adaption including characters and how one has to act them. Just because hes not attempting to perfectly recreate Ewan doesn’t make it bad and you don’t have to hate on him for that.
Seeing the movie dozens of times but I don't know who these characters are supposed to be?? the girl definitely looks nothing like, Nicole Kidman's character and she had red hair so can anybody tell me who these people are supposed to be??
Sorry. This comes nothing close to the movie😢. Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor in that scene was just incredible and this is to me is like a High School play. The guy was even off key:(. Not good.
This is terrible. Where is the 2022 North American touring cast?? They’re so much better than this broadway cast! No offense! Truth is broadway can’t cut it. If you wanna be blown away, then go see Courtney Reed and Conor Ryan; they’re perfection and breathe life into their characters and bring personality, rawness, realness, whimsy, magic, and humor into their roles. They are SUPERIOR. So if you wanna see Moulin Rouge, do it with the 2022-2023 North American tour and cast. That cast is absolute perfection! They are infinitely so much better than this Broadway production. So glad and soooo lucky I got to see Moulin Rouge with the US touring cast with Courtney Reed as Satine and Conor Ryan as Christian and not the broadway show. NYC cast isn’t up to par. Sorry but the Broadway cast sucks.

It’s rare when a pairing like this comes together, it’s instant MAGIC ✨💫 and should be talked about and celebrated. I’m grateful I got to see a once in a lifetime performance and I’ll never forget it thanks to Conor Ryan and Courtney Reed from the 2022 US tour. The experience was phenomenal. Like everyone got actual high watching them lol It’s a delectable feast for your senses. If only this broadway cast had a smidge of that spark…
Don't sell 'em. Having seen the show 2 weeks ago, this has to be the worst audio of them doing this song on the internet. Singing to a recording rather than a live orchestra causes this to lose some of its spark, too.
Almost bought tickets but glad I didnt. I really dont care for this rendition of the original soundtrack. In the movie there is so much romance and chemistry during this song- this cover is lacking so much passion.
