When building a camper van, you may want to mount your Victron Energy Multiplus-II to extruded aluminum. I'm using 8020 brand 15-series to attached my MP-II mount plate which requires modification to the hole size so the 5/16-18 (or M8) bolts will fit.
If you are mounting to 10-series, 1/4-20 thread will fit through the mount holes without modification.
Make sure to read the comments on this one...

Did you also drill out the lower mount screws to mount directly to 8020? I eventually decided it was too much trouble to try and mount directly, and built a panel out of 3/4” ply for extra mount options.

Hi. You know… I went through the ACTUAL mounting process today and it hit me… I think the Multiplus NEEDS to be mounted to something that does NOT conduct electricity. Otherwise the MP’s chassis ground becomes the metal plate into the 8020 and any other metal that is connected to. Once you see this reply I’ll probably delete this video due to that. I’ll drop an Instagram photo of basically what you said you did… I’ve now mounted a 3/4” plywood panel to the 8020 and mounted the MP to that. Now the MP’s chassis grounding has to follow my path to the negative bus which then goes out to the main system chassis ground.

Hmm. I’m not sure the 8020 ground path is problematic? Wouldn’t the ground follow the path of least resistance, which is going to be your large ground wire? Plus, presumably your 8020 is likely linked to the chassis (or there’s be no ground), so seems an okay worst case. Either way, happy to see some consensus where I felt like I gave up!

@@tristan-s I will have each of my 8020 modules grounded but probably w 6AWG, not 2/0 or other larger wire. I do have heavy mass vinyl between my 8020 and the van as a thermal break, exception being the bolts into the plusnuts. Path of least resistance should be the copper wire to the DC negative for ground. I feel good about having switched to the wood and not having to think about it anymore though 🤣

@@tristan-s Electricity takes *all* available paths. How loud is the sound and noise coming from your MP-II, especially during high watts?

There can be a hummmm of the fans when it is working hard. And follow up for Tristan-s: I've been told 8020 in anodized and therefore doesn't conduct electricity unless you break through that outer layer. Still, I'm think I feel better about having mounted on 3/4" plywood instead. It's done anyway!
