I'd say the Black Bronze and Silver horses should be bumped up, since you'd always equip them on your Strategist, they give more ammo, and you don't need to kite or charge in as a Strategist anyway. You'd always want to equip a Bronze Black horse on a Strategist over a Common one.
If I remember correctly, in some versions of the Romance Liu Bei negged Dilu by saying how he was "the only one who believed in Dilu" and "maybe he should've listened to Liu Biao" that it was nothing but trouble, until the horse got guilted into making the jump.
Nice video, never knew common horses were actually quite fast compared to bronze or silver tiered horses. Don't know if anyone mentioned this before, but have you considered ranking every faction leader in the game (eg, Cao Cao, Dong Zhuo, Meng Huo, etc)? I think this would be an interesting idea to do.
The authority bonus horses are useful if your leader/heir/prime minister are court characters, it may give you some extra satisfaction. Not a huge bonus, but minmaxing and all that stuff I guess.
I somewhat disagree on the elephants in that I think they're too situational to be ranked that highly. You're basically replacing the general with a completely different unit. If you stick a generic dude on an elephant it's fantastic. If you put a legendary general with OP active abilities on one... you basically replaced the game's most powerful unit with a much worse one.

I enjoy the Ravages of Time depiction of Red Hare where Red Hare sired a bunch of offspring that inherited the OG's strength, coat and fame. Red Hare became more of a title to the OG Red Hare's entire line. It helped explain the whole time fiasco.
It would be super convenient, but I don't think a Han faction can confederate/annex a Nanman faction under normal circumstances because they're culturally different? Besides the scripted event surrounding capturing Meng Huo a bunch of times. Han factions can't even annex/confederate bandit factions, which is a shame as they're pretty much the same.
@@SeriousTrivia But you shouldn't be able to annex them. You can vassalize Zhang Yan or Yan Baihu, but the game will refuse to allow you to annex them if you're playing as a Han faction as well.
I captured the unique elephant in my He Yi campaign, and am unsure who to give it to. Normally as Han I give elephants to vanguards (ma chao with an elephant is amazing) but I’m not so sure with the yellow turban classes. Any advice?
When using an elephant as a mount, you're using the elephant's attack power, correct? Does this make the character's equipped weapon obsolete or does it still influence combat? So, for example, would the Burning Mace still have its burning effects while on an elephant? Also, does the 2.2k damage of the mace factor in at all or is it all the elephant's power?
I never understood why the Speed of horses dropped as their tiers went up (mostly). I mean, shouldn't they be upgrades instead of a weird trade-off between tiers....? Weird decision by CA imo.
@@SeriousTrivia Yes, but most of the time I find myself wanting speed over mass, since there's so many ways you can increase your charge/attack bonuses but not speed. Thank you for your view though.
I got the southern elephant from Mulu in my latest Meng Huo game, sadly it just disappeared that same turn, and Mulu ran off somewhere. Very sad. In any case great video man! I hope that one day we get Water buffalo aswell (even if they arnt that historical neither are tigers :))
does the quality (tier) of a horse have anything to do with the chance of getting knocked off your horse when fighting against spear infantry? And, is there anything else I can do in order to reduce the chance? Thanks!
no, the quality of the horse does not matter. The only thing that matters is that you do not charge headfirst into braced spears or melee units in formations as they are given the properties to knock generals off their horses in those situations
@@Babigoldfish They did do that though, didn't they? Pang De shot Guan Yu in the arm with a poisoned arrow. It didn't kill him, but it certainly contributed to Guan Yu's eventual death.
I don't like lower tier elephants myself, primarily the common one since trumpet at least is good. They do good shock damage but you give up abilities for none in return, very poor sustained damage and making you a larger target. They have uses very early on to stick a strategist on one for example before they have unlocked their good abilities, but it's hard for the Han to get an early enough animal trader trigger. The Nanman don't have this worry as they can get elephants quickly and easily, but I avoid using elephants for Nanman early game as it disables duelling and Tribal Hero is such a good and strong skill to get started on stacking early. One elephant character in an army is fine as the others can take the duels, but no more.
Every time, when I capture Mu Lu and get his elephant, I knew it will be perfect Shi Xe campaign. Shi Xe got all abilities are passives so elephant perfect for him.
I remember another story of Dilu. Liu Bei was being agonized that he had to take Liu Zhang's Bashu region and was still wavering on whether Pang Tong Pang Shiyu and Kongming's views were right that he should exterminate his own kin to take the lands and toss his honor aside. Pang Tong and Kongming both knew that ithad to be done but at this point, Pang Tong was liasing with Fa Zheng and Zhang Song in scheming against Liu Zhang and news reached Liu Bei's camp that Liu Zhang was being undermined and was prepared for war and expel Liu Bei out of Yi province but Liu Bei actually requested a parlay and Liu Zhang agreed. Pang Tong senses something was wrong and instead chose to be the one to go over to Chengdu and negotiate with Liu Zhang. Now there are various tales but these two are more accurate and almost the same outcome. One was news arrived to Liu Bei that Liu Zhang was paranoid and had readied his men to face Liu Bei and get him off Yi province once and for all. Liu Bei was riding Dilu around the camp to walk its legs and Pang Tong too was talking to the lord and when the messenger came rushing with the news, Dilu started acting and was bucking Liu Bei real hard. Liu Bei controlled Dilu and pacified the horse but Pang Tong, knowing the legends of the horse, knew that Dilu could forsee the future and decided to do the parlay for Liu Bei while he rides Dilu towards Chengdu. Liu Bei was confused on why Pang Tong wants to go to the parlay with Dilu but Pang Tong assures him nothing is wrong and cite that "Dilu is a quick horse that rivals general Guan Yu's Red Hare and if I was to take Dilu vs my old horse, I would get to Chengdu with style and grace and with time to spare". Liu Bei unknowingly let Pang Tong take it but in fact, Pang Tong took it because he knew Liu Zhang had actually set an ambush on a valley aptly named "Fallen Phoenix Valley" 落凤破 (Pang Tong's nickname was Fledgling Phoenix) and if he was to take Dilu over, the ambush troops would just fire volleys of arrow thinking that it was Liu Bei on the horse and kill him instantly. Pang Tong did that to create an opportunity for Liu Bei to properly invade Yi as Liu Bei held Pamg Tong in high regard and also to save his life as Dilu forsaw someone dying again on his back and its not him, it has to be Liu Bei. True to what Pang Tong has sensed, he died on Dilu right at Fallen Phoenix Valley. However, when a scout party reached the valley, they were horiffied to find everyone was dead, even Pang Tong, except for Dilu who was still carrying a now lifeless Pang Tong on it for over 1 1/2 days before being brought back to Liu Bei thus breaking the news that Liu Zhang had betrayed them and started his own demise. The 2nd version plays out the same as the 1st but this ending was even more ridiculous. So when Pang Tong was shot, Dilu bucked Pang Tong off and rode all the way, about 120 miles back to camp. When it reached the camp gates, the guards were shocked and confused upon watching Dilu galloping at full speed towards them but no one else was with it nor anyone behind it except a blood soaked Dilu charging at them. When they opened the gates and let him in, the guards reported to Liu Bei the situation and both he and Zhuge Liang came out to the parade square and have a look. When Zhuge Liang saw Dilu crying and his back stained with huge patches of blood, he feared the worst and sent scouts to the path the parlay squad was taking and sure enough, news came back that no one survived, even Pang Tong and now they knew that Pang Tong took Dilu was because he knew of the ambush and Dilu sensed someone would die if they went to the parlay thus Pang Tong sacrificed himself for the cause with Dilu.
@@SeriousTrivia Shadow Runner also had quite alot of tales. I know about the one you mentioned but I remembered 2 tales also but one I wasn't sure if its Shadow Runner. One was when he just got Chen and Lu Bu joined him. However, Chen Ging sprung a rebellion and Lu Bu took Cao Cao's territory as his own. Cao Cao raced back to counter him and initially failed. Being ambushed himself, Cao Cao was fleeing and was chased down by Lu Bu. However, when Lu Bu chased down Shadow Runner, he realized Cao Cao has played him out that the one that was running so fast away on Shadow Runner wasn't actually Cao Cao but someone that has dressed up as Cao Cao and had led him out of the city about 70 miles away. He had to race back to the city only to realize Cao Cao had actually uturned around with another horse and laid siege to the city. This is the one I was unsure if it was Shadow Runner but was pretty funny. So, Cao Cao wanted to take the entire north but the Qiang and Xiliang people were in the way as after Dong Zhuo, Guo Si and Li Jue all pissed off and died, the entire Xiliang region now falls under Han Sui and Ma Teng so for Cao Cao to get to Hanzhong, he had to pass by Tong Pass. Ma Chao fought Cao Cao's army furiously and actually routed Cao Cao's 1st attack and forced Cao Cao to flee on a horse while Ma Chao and his brothers gave chase. Along the way, the gap wasn't reducing but Ma Chao wasn't giving up either. Cao Cao had to throw away his cape, helmet, beard and even his mullet hair to escape Ma Chao as he was being recognized by Ma Chao among his bodyguards despite all the entics but thank god for the horse, he outran Ma Chao till Xu Chu reinforced Cao Cao and blocked Ma Chao from giving chase. I don't know if the horse Ma Chao was chasing was Shadow Runner or not but for Ma Chao's a skilled rider to not be able to chase Cao Cao was frankly odd.
@@SeriousTrivia There's one horse that I felt CA should have added tho. Zhao Yu Zhao Zilong's legendary "白龙" White Dragon. Zilong was given the white horse when he was with Gongsun Zan as it was transitioning from a pony to a full horse and along the way, Zhao Yun has great afinity with it that rumour even has it that with a whistle, no matter how chaotic and far Zhao Yun is, White Dragon would just barge in, smashing troops away with his own charge and drag Zhao Yun out of battle. That's how White Dragon managed to get Zhao Yun out of Changban with Adou after he raced back with White Dragon, took Adou back and in the meantime, White Dragon got shot 3 times, din't care, raced back with Zhao Yun and Adou past enemies and Zhang Fei only to collapse and die after Zhao Yun passed Adou back to Liu Bei and gets pet by Zhao Yun one last time. I feel it would be good too to have stats like + 10 purple + 5 red, 15% evasion from capture, 35% charge & + 15 armour. 95 speed and 2k mass. That would make a good horse tbh. Might fit Gongsun Zan also as its god damn odd for him to be a legendary white horse commander that the northern people feared but he lacked a legendary white horse.
@@SeriousTrivia There has been tons of spin on ROTK and even proper historical facts that even I can't tell you where I got them exactly. Even dramas on ROTK was acted upon by different people and every time the story are all different. Its just odd sometimes. Like the weapon scene in the game. Liu, Guan, Zhang was given their weapons before their adventures against the Yellow Turban Rebellion but in historical text, that wasn't mentioned and if I remembered correctly, the original ROTK also stated that he got his butterfly swords from his mum as he was about to leave with Guan Yu and Zhang Fei with his mum stating that it was a family heirloom and he should use it to open up a new world and a new destiny or whatever nonsense I don't remember.
Honestly I believe we need more actual useful Unique Horses and Weapons that you can spawn really. There Is not really alot of spawnable mounts or weapons that make It much of a want to go out of your way to aquire the counties. I do wonder who has the mounts of people who are dead In later chapter packs too.
