left shoulder and hip down and around is the most effective swing thought for me. That's when I strike the ball my best. When I get away front that swing key, I slide like I'm trying to stretch a single into a double. Thanks for all the great content.
One of the best previous videos that Milo had, and I don't remember which one it was, but I know Milo talked about a squat move on the downswing. I was sooooo afraid to do it, I fought it for such a long time, since doing it, my contact, ball flight and shots have been the best EVER. Please give it a try and by doing the squat move, that also helps with keeping the shoulder down as well. Milo and Henry, a great combo threat to improve your golf game, Thanks so much.
I'm enjoying the channel. Thanks so much for all the info. On a lighter note, we had two fat tuxedo cats growing up (brothers) named Milo and Henry, where Milo was the leader, and I sent these videos to my family and we are all getting a kick out of your names. It's bringing back a lot of fond memories of those times many years ago. But the content of the instruction is great too, and really, thank you for that. This is exactly what I'm working on right now. Lower body leads as chest lowers to slow the rate of the lead shoulder rising.
Maintain left side bend a little deeper into the downswing. Tough to open hips/shoulders when the spine is tilted away from the target; the lead shoulder will just go up.
There is a tour player plays on the European tour he swing like Milo lines long and straight Ryan Fox from New Zealand. Transition down to the ball quite the same and he is one off longest hitter on European and Pga. I believe in Milo Lines teaching method.
Great video. The challenge is to do this without getting the club steep. And with less lateral movement of the lower body it’s harder to control low point, but no doubt this is the ideal way to swing. You guys make it look easy, I hit pulls doing this.
Excelente..!!!!..el mejor video sobre downswing para aficionados, publicado en RU-vid...aclara perfectamente como volver en el swing...felicitaciones...!!!!
See this just shows how hard golf is when you have something ingrained. Good stuff Milo and Henry. I don't mean to say that in a way that says the concept is difficult, but as an amateur relearning new pathways is HARD. You have to do it slowly overtime and forget about results!
@@MiloLinesGolf I joined last week! My dad winters down there, hope to take an in person some time after implementing the foundations at home in the net!
Love this Milo. Something I’ve struggled with for years & this really joined the dots for me. Tried it today & seeing an improvement. Only issue is I was coming into the ball a little steep. Any thoughts?
@@MiloLinesGolf Thanks for the reply Milo. Do you have a youtube video that would help show the matchup and wrist sequence? I post as Dave.Fawkes on insta if you had time to look.
Trail shoulder closes the gap between itself and the lead knee...in transition....good thought? Then "around the corner" as you say...? Good stuff Milo.....
Fundamentally spot-on, but as in MOST if not ALL instructional videos, the WHEN part is omitted. 'Transition' is mentioned, but that's too vague. Start the lowering spiral of the left shoulder at the same time your weight moves from your right heel to your left toe box (assuming you have the proper foot trace) and before the right wrist adds flex (lag) at the top. The timing of this is EVERYTHING.
Great video, Yes its all about the Sequencing, luckily i have good lower body action, my weakness in the sequence was not using my left chest/Pec to power my left shoulder/arm fling! So if like me your left violently twists into the ground in soft conditions you may be trying to make up for a lack of Pec Power! in the sequence.
"Down and around." I like it. It rhymes and makes sense at the same time. I suspect this has been an issue for me in my transition. "Everything working down." I feel like I got a target on me. Guilty as you know what.
A comment about the difference between this Milo endorsed hip turn and the Hogan type big hip shift - would anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m impressed by what I see here, but how did Hogan make it work?
I imagine things like sliding as opposed to rotating are like many things in golf. Most golf instruction is from the FRONT on or DOWN THE LINE perspective. You forget golf is a 3D game, played on an inclined plane. I didn't have youtube growing up, just magazines. These provided only 2D views which gave me a lot of misconceptions. You guys also touched on one thing. The golf swing is about a second. The down swing about 1/3 a second. Got any ideas on what to think about in that amount of time??
I’m so dang confused- just saw a Michael Breed video on “Coming over the top” where he talked about the club being above the shaft line instead of correctly below it on the downswing. He showed a drill then made swings incorporating the fix but I noticed his left shoulder & hip were higher at impact ? Why the disparity ? Thank you
i have to fight against that exact thing because when i do it wrong it's a block or maybe a pull but when i get it right it's a decent shot. this is gonna help, thnx.
Thanks Milo this is my exact issue. Any feels/drills to get the lower body engaged properly? My left hip moves forward in backswing but never moves back and out of the way coming down.
The right arm provides structure and helps accelerate the left arm but doesn’t flip the club head past the hands that happens through physical forces out of your control
Milo, I am absolutely crushing the ball lately but my misses tend to be heel strikes. I think it's because I need to extend my wrists more at set up so the ball is further away. Not much of a question but do you find that people transitioning to this type of swing tend to have more heel strikes?
Maybe this is what I haven't been understanding! In an effort to stop the right shoulder going out towards the ball and over the top I've started dropping my right shoulder down and left shoulder up to start the downswing! And when I do that I never understood how can I transfer my weight forward if my upper body is dropping back!! Now I realise if I keep the left shoulder down a little longer till I've transferred my weight then turn???? Does that make sense?? 😜 thanks! Great video!
Yes, make sure to check out my other videos on pivoting and using the ground. I have numerous video discussing these points. Thanks for following along Scott!
Some good stuff in this video. However the downswing contortion that Henry puts himself into at 6:00 is something I have never seen in a professional golfer. I have a large collection of high quality videos at 120fps and higher, so I can stop the video at many different points in the swing, and no one gets into that position.
Well this morning on range (before seeing this video) I was trying to make this (pivot) move and was totally unsuccessful - and very disappointed. I'm 75 and was a pretty good baseball player and tennis player but cannot correctly make this move. I am 5'8" and my backswing is very short with little separation between upper and lower body. When I try to move like you recommend I hit it fat or very fat. I see virtually no players swinging this way - and being Starter at my local GC. I see a lot of players - including the guys and gals on the Texas State golf teams who practice at my course. Any tips on how (and even whether) an old guy with lousy flexibility can learn how to swing this way? It just looks right. I am not a slicer, btw, and hit the 7-iron about 145.
When ever I try this, I start to have a reversed spine tilt soon as I pivot my left hip back. Any advises on how to prevent this from happening? Thanks
So you actually get lower to the ground at the beginning of the downswing? But wouldn’t you hit the ground before the ball on the way down- confused because of your stance at the beginning?
No if some wrist angles are still retained you must stay down. This video explains why ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v_NItGXkd9E.html
Hi Guys. Your right golfer should never shrug their right or left shoulders up during the swing of the club. This being said did you know that both shoulders can only rotate In their sockets by 20 degrees? And that both shoulders must move from the very start of the golfer’s swing to the very finished? This being said at the start of the golfer downswing the left shoulder must only turn and rotate up as the right shoulder is rotating 20 degrees down until both shoulders levels off at the end of the swing. Cheers
It looks like the left hip cleared for Henry and the shoulders are still allowed to rotate properly with the lead should going up adding to the release speed at the right time.
This has to be paired with the correct hands so the club falls instead of coming over. Otherwise it’s an over the top swing with pulls, slices, hooks, etc.
No, I believe a rotational swing like this is safe and natural for anyone, although I do have several videos discussing a more upright swing as in my most recent live lesson video.
Not if you turn on plane and pivot correctly with the center of mass staying behind. I would suggest watching some of my other videos. Thanks for watching!
I should call him on his Phone while he is doing one of these videos. Milo I'm a mess I got teeter totter hips, hitting all my clubs more or less the same distance, keep dumping balls in lakes. Can you Help, PLEASE. Bet that would drive him Nutz.
The club needs to match up and lay down behind the rotation. I would need to see your swing to give you best feedback Harley, but the club is probably getting pulled down simultaneously. Check out my website if I can be of further help: milolinesgolf.com
@@MiloLinesGolf Milo i always cut down the swing 2 majors components.Lag sustainability and speed creation. Now for the later there are multiple ways to get the club moving. For lag i think there is ONLY one move that "glues" the shaft in the fingers and allows to sustain shaft deflection ..... the Graal we are all after. Thats the singularity of the swing the one and only that matters...
not easy at all. it s been a struggle for me to not spinning my hip and ended up on trail leg. most trouble some is when i try for a few more yards on a par 4. sometime the ball flew sideway to left T marker, literally. golf is hard.
Is it just me or does this seem a lot like George Gankas' downswing? Please don't misunderstand me: I respect Milo as one of the best instructors around, explaining things very well and I know "the devil is in the details". But that lead knee rotation looks soooooo similar. :)
@@MiloLinesGolf Good for you, thanks for your generous response. I mean, as you say, "There are many ways to swing a golf club", but, really, how many ways are there to swing a golf club (if you know what I mean)? I'd LOVE to use your approach but, as a senior, I'm afraid I'd twist myself into the ground. :)
