Unbreakable is one of my favorite superhero movies…and that includes The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2! I was telling my Uncle just how much my dad and I love it. Its ending gives you a LOT to think about…and it’s a bit unsettling. Willis and Jackson were great together, having been in Pulp Fiction and Die Hard 3 just years earlier!

Citizen Kane was DECADES ahead of its time when it came out in 1941. I'd say it was the greatest movie ever made when it came out, and it held that title for quite some time.

@@NinthShinigami I also have The King of Comedy as my #4 and Taxi Driver at #1. And then I have The Departed at #3 and The Wolf of Wall Street as my runner up. You’re Top 4 is entirely fair because Scorsese has made lots of fantastic movies over the decades that all resonate with film fans differently.

Maybe not ahead of it’s time, but I’ll say "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" would’ve been a lot bigger if it was released like 5-8 years later.

To Seans point, Dumb and Dumber TO was just a terrible movie and that story would've bombed in 1999 but I think Furiosa is a good example of a well-made movie that should've come out around 2018 and I think it would've done better at that time. Movies ahead of their time: The Thing 1982 would've been a massive hit, but it should not have come out the same summer as E.T. and Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. Dark City is another one that should be considered a masterpiece, the studio screwed the movie by forcing the director to add this dumb narration in the TC and The Matrix came out a year later which overshadowed Dark City at that time. If you watch Dark City directors cut, it's a far better movie than The Matrix and you will see how many ideas that The Matrix stole from it.

I can’t believe that Watchmen turns 15 this year and I think it’s a good movie but hasn’t been talked about in the public eye since. I think releasing to theaters what was originally a dead month of March movies may sound interesting, but WB should’ve moved Watchmen to compete against X-Men Origins: Wolverine (the Barakka Deadpool cut)) and that’s their biggest fumble. And say what you want about Zack Synder, he’s a polarizing but somewhat underrated director, but I think he did a great job on Watchmen because of the fantastic story elements and stunning visual effects makes it a movie that’s worth checking out. I might get the Ultimate Director’s Cut version at a cheaper price.

Not The Rocketeer (1991))? 😂 Hey, it’s Howard Stark’s jetpack joyride! Not The Meteor Man (1993)? 🤣 Years before we got Black Panther (2018). Not Mystery Men (1999), the first to deconstruct superheroes as street level amateurs way before Kick-Ass (2010) did it? I do think Unbreakable (2000) is quite brilliant. Arguably, M. Night’s best and last good movie. It’s the first act of a superhero origin story stretched out into an entire movie. I haven’t seen Unbreakable in maybe 22 years and I haven’t seen Watchmen since it was shown in the theaters back in 2009. For deconstruction of superheroes or superhero teams, I think The Boys is currently doing it the best. Did you see the recent episode? One of the best for the series. Homelander is unredeemable at this point. The series should end with him dead. Best character in the show and one of the greatest villains ever created.

Watchmen is a surface level adaption. Zack Synder may adapted the story faithfully, but still miss the point of the story. Synder care more about having cool visuals and fight scenes than actually focusing on the point of Watchmen. In other words, the movie won't do well regardless. I also think Unbreakable coming out in 2000 makes it feel unquie. If it came out in the 2010s, I don't think people would find it as interesting because we had so many superhero movies.

In my personal opinion, I think Megamind was a movie that was ahead of time because it flips typical superhero tropes on its head and subvert them the cast did the terrific job Megamind character is really well developed and I love how they didn’t make metro men a villain and instead, he’s just a chill guy that was just getting tired of the superhero cat and mouse game. He wanted to do his own thing. and it’s message about nature versus nurture is really well developed and Titan is such a good twist villain Megamind and Roxanne’s relationship is very wholesome and I am genuinely glad that people are really looking back on this movie in recent years and really appreciating it overall I think megamind is terrific movie that all ages could enjoy

Quantum Of Solace. I like it already from start and even more after my second and other views. Movie not go about revenge. There trow Sand in people eyes with every Daniel Craig movie, inspecialy QOS and even more with No Time To Die and we already can have know it since Casino Royale. Bond 26 mabey won't be what people expect. Tomorrow Never Dies in 1997 with fake news.

Hey Sean, just wanted to ask, with Horizon: An American Saga (Chapter One) hitting theaters this Friday, it seems like this film is going to be DOA. With the film getting mid reviews and is going to get hammered by competition between Inside Out 2, A Quiet Place: Day One, and then next week with Despicable Me 4, do you think this planned series from Kevin Costner going to be doomed to fail (a la Waterworld) and is it too little too late to revive Costner's comeback as a leading man?

My pick for the movie that came out at the wrong time is in fact my all time favourite movie Speed Racer. Because in 2008, gritty realism dominates cinema (thinking Bourne Ultimatum or The Dark Knight as an example) and the fact mainstream audience back then wasn't ready for a colorful eyecandy of a movie so it bombed...

Watchmen walked so The Boys could run! Way ahead of its time. Snyder did a great job adapting the greatest graphic novel in history. It's in my top 10 comic book movies of all time.

The only thing close to team up movies were the X-men movies and also Split along with glass feel like movies that should’ve came out around 2005 or something with how they did. With 2019 being the peak superhero year and you get those lackluster fights didn’t do the movie any favors. With that being said Black Adam of course was a movie that was too late also
