Hi, so in windows it is the same show in explorer, but you can see immediately the path in the address bar ( or when you click on it it if it was not set to show the full path by default, then it shows the full path and you can copy it and paste to another explorer window). What I found recently and it looks very easy and helpful is in the preferences under the presets tab there is an option to "STORE PRESETS WITH THIS CATALOG" so it saves them in the same folder as the catalog so you just sync that folder to google drive or dropbox whatever and all your presets and catalog(s) are backed up and you know always where to find them ;)

Thanks again Anthony. One note - I compressed the file and copied it to an external drive. When I tried to import the presets from the external drive, nothing happens. I finally just copied the zip folder to the desktop of the new computer and then it imported just fine. One would think..........but sometimes its better to just not think, but follow instructions instead.

Thank You! This will save me a lot frustration especially if it works with profiles. I shoot infrared and use profiles/presets to precess them. Working with both desktop and laptop is a nightmare if they don't both have exactly the same profiles and presets.

Always a good topic that we only need every 7 or 8 years. Adobe needs to figure out an easier way to do this. Use to, when you did a major update, presets wouldn't come over, but now they do thank goodness.

QQQ: Can we not store all the presets on the external drive and import from there? That seems easier than copying from old computer (which may have died).

Thank you again for your good information You told that you have the LR-catalogue in Dropbox. I did that also. But after some problems, Adobe said: "you should not have your catalogue in the cloud" because it syncs all the time. Do you have the right answer? I hope soo With regards Krijn

I recently purchased a used imac 27, 2019 build and installed Sanoma 14.5. Then installed Photoshop CC and Lightroom CC 2024. When I right click on a preset nothing happens. My problem is that I somehow installed over 300 B/W presets into the User Preset folder and I can't figure out how to remove them. When installing the macos I installed it into an internal 128SSD.

Thank you, very helpful! My work flow isthat I want to do the editing on my MBP M1 Max but it got limited HD capacity so after Im finished, I want to transfer these images to my stationary computer and also bring the editing info to that other computer so I don´t need to start over again on the second stationary computer. Can you tell me if there is a simple way to move the specific editing information for a specific photo shoot, such as a folder? Maybe there is a possibility to use Adobes cloud service to sync these automatically from the beginning? please help!

Still not getting my Export presets and my Filter Preset that Hides all Rejects so I can select only the ones I want to export. I am not sure how I created these so I want to copy them over from my old system. I am using a PC.

Great video..But i would like to know is if you have LRC and PS on your computers hard drive (trying to save space) (how) can you move one or both of those programs to an external HD without any photo or preset loss? and will my computer recognize it on the external HD.

If you are using the latest version of Lightroom look under Preferences/presets and see whether the option to store presets is checked. If it is.... you copy the lighroom folder as in the above video to an external hard drive that's it. When you open lightroom it will prompt you to open the catalogue so you need to go to your hard drive and open the lightroom folder and select the lrcat file. Everything should then open in lightroom....if you didn't store your presets in the preferences tab you need to copy the lightroom presets and place it on your hard drive. The video explains where to find the catalogue firstly and what to copy: then how to open the catalogue once in lightroom If you want to store PS on your external hard drive in case you want to reinstall PS you copy the exe file from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (version)\Presets Alternatively.....If you have a creative cloud subscription you can install PS from there so you don't need to store PS. This way you will always download the latest version Photoshop doesn't store your photos they should be in your pictures folder

What is the best way to copy the compressed preset file from old to new computers? Do I need to move them to an external or can I share through the cloud?
