I often lost motivation to keep my room clean after a few times to be told to clean my room and it was clean because I kept it picked up. Years later when I moved out my mom pointed out the mess that she had an issue with and I picked it up and dusted it off and rolled it up. She found out the 'Mess' was a T-shirt material rug I made with torn shirts when I was younger... with her... as a fun project... yeah she wanted me to clean up my rug.

My mum had an extremely healthy way of teaching us about chores. Yeah we don’t like it, as do most people. However instead of “because I said so” it was “because you deserve a nice and clean space”. I think about that a lot.

Well yes, but that applies to the situation. Cleaning a room is a habit you want a child to develop and eventually do out of their own autonomy. Telling them not Don't jump off a ledge is where you'd want the child to obey because this isn't (hopefully not at least) a reoccurring event and eventually as they get older they learn to be more careful when recalling the event itself.

About the microwave beep thing. A lot of brands have a silence mode, but you need to push a certain button sequence to do it. You should check to see if your model has it

I really find it interesting to hear it from this perspective. I moved out two years ago because the uni I wanted to study at was located 500 km away. There just was no alternative. But firstly is was'nt that big of a deal, except financial. I really had to learn to manage my money.. The thing is, over the last years since I were like 15 or 16 my parents didn't "parent" me as much as they did before. I really had my independence already. Of course I gained a lot more but also hat to take some steps back.. I live in a shared apartment with 6 other students. It's not like dorms, it is "our house" but we live here. Maybe you heard of the term "Wohngemeinschaft" here in Germany. But that means that I can't start cooking at 2 AM which I actually could have at home because my parents have quite a big house.. Not the case here. Right next to the kitchen lives a girl which has to get up at 5 AM, sooo.. No late visits to the kitchen.. Thats just one example. Plus my room here is really, I mean reeeeeally tiny. Not so at home, but I like my little chamber. I hope you get the point of my view. Have a great day whoever and whenever you are reading this.

The cleaning room thing differs from person to person, if your room has food in it and you dont clean it, it can damage the house, which will cost you/parents money depending on if they make you pay (not personal experience, but my sister that moved out, we went through her room)
