Moving to Hawaii with Family - Our First Week On The Island of Oahu 

I grew up there. I have a certain joy that only growing up there could bring. It’s a vibe. I don’t deny it, hide it..but after living in Florida for almost 20 years, Hawaii is always home. I honestly cannot say I liked Florida at all. I’m hapa, I look more white though, but I feel so out of my element there. I took my sons to Hawaii a week ago. Thank God, it was s much needed joy. The smiles on our faces. Gratitude to have lived there and I’m 42. I know I will settle there. I live in WA now. WA is beautiful too. My surroundings is a non negotiable. Enjoy Hawaii

My Hawaii Journey 2005 It all began when I arrived in December 2005 when I arrived with my mother to the Honolulu Airport. I was happy to see my dad again because he left for Hawaii a month before us. Me and mother then arrived to our first house on Kiele Place it was a ranch house and I also had my private alleyway to a swing. I also would walk to school and from school from this house since it was so close to my school. My next Memory is on New years Eve 2005 when I went to see my friends Annika and Nadia. I was so glad to see them and again that our dads were stationed together since we just met in Colorado even now as an adult I so grateful that this happened that we got to be in Hawaii together. 2006 Then In January I started Nimitz Elementary school. I was in 3rd grade at the time of the move and It was hard at first leaving Dakota Valley Elementary. I went to the Plantation Village in Hawaii and I made an animal for the science fair that year which I still have. I also went ice skating at the Ice Palace with my school. I also would play Triazzle on the computer too. I watched movie in Anne in class one day. I also went bowling too with my friends Annika and Nadia on base too. Also for the first in March 2006 I got a toy from Build a bear from the Ala Mona center which is now my favorite mall to see on youtube.Then in June 2006 I celebrated my 9th birthday in Hawaii. I was so happy because it was my first year that I was finally had been freed from my strict gluten free diet that I was on when I lived in Colorado. I went to the wooden playground with Annika and Nadia and I had a white cake and Annika and had strawberry cake our birthdays were so close together. Then later in the summer we moved to Gemini Avenue there our house was a two story house. Then on August 5th 2006 we got a golden puppy and we named it Henry and I had him for 13 years and we got him since my mother got news that my dad was being deployed to Iraq at first at that time it sounded it better that what soon happened in reality. Originally a woman at my dads work was supposed to go but she could not due her back being injured. I also went into 4th grade later that year in school too and I went to the Loi. One time my dog Henry chewed up my school lunch menu as a puppy. I also did Freedom walk for the first for 9/11 with my school that year. Then in October the island a had a major earthquake and we lost power for the day but I did go the Community playground with Annika and Nadia that day. I also sang its a Christmas Luau too in December just before I went to see my grandparents. What was nice about Hawaii was that we did not need a layover to visit my grandparents in California. I also went to the Iolani palace too with my school in December. 2007 Then in January 2007 my dad had to get ready to leave for Iraq I cried at night a lot at first. I missed him a lot. It was just me and my mother. During that time In February 2007 I had bike education at school because back then I was afraid to ride bikes. I also went to buca di beppo with Annika and Nadia and they also spent the superbowl with us and my mother also won a gift basket after I told her to enter a drawing for it on Valentines day that year. In March 2007 i saw my Grandparents for my grandfather birthday then came to Hawaii to see us since my dad was in Iraq and we went to the lanai at mamala bay for his birthday. I also got to see the bishop museum too in school. I also the aloha festival at school too in May 2007. Then In June 2007 Me and my mother saw my grandparents in California for my 10th birthday and on my mothers birthday that year she felt really sad that my dad could not be home for her birthday that year. Then In August 2007 my dad finally came home from Iraq. My parents bought me a bike and i got ride it around the court since I knew bike education in school made me better while my dad was in Iraq. In school I was in 5th grade at that point. In September I then went to Kauai with my parents for 3 days and we stayed in a Beach house and i got a toy whale and dolphin. Then in October I went to my school fall festival for the first time and I bouncy in an elephant bounce house and I had outback for dinner. Then I went to boo fest with Annika and Nadia and did bouncy slides and I had my first potluck with my neighbors for Grace clay birthday. I also went trick or treating with Annika and Nadia. Then in November I went to the Big Island with my grandparents and my parents since my grandparents came for thanksgiving. I went to the nut factory as well as the black sand beach. I also went to starbase with my school and I got my own rocket. I also saw the Enchanted movie with Annika and Nadia. I also spent the day with Annika one monday when our schools were closed for Veterans day weekend because Hawaii was supportive of the military. Sometime in the fall Annika and Nadia came for movie night at my house and Nadia bumped into something which is how we found out she need eye surgery. Then in December I sang its a marshmallow world.

Enjoy it man , best place you’ll ever live .. I loved there for 6 yrs met my wife there .. she from the Philippines but they all moved to hawaii.. still have family there .. definitely home to me .. I’d love to move back after retirement . If you haven’t been yet an you like seafood .. head up to north shore to big wave food truck .. is you hiking lulumahu hiking trail is good has a waterfall in the back cool for the family … eggs an things is super good breakfast spot .. take the fam up Koko head .. it’s a lil bit of a walk up but the view is a amazing once you’re up there , I’d recommend goin early in the morning to catch the sunrise maybe enjoy breakfast with the fam, lil more paved than before so not as hard as it used to be … hope you enjoy it brotha 🤙🏽 Good practice for shipping your car is to ship it about 45 days before you leave to go there .. your car will beat you to the island.

How was your home-buying experience? You mentioned that your home purchase included furniture. That is awesome. Was the furniture in great condition? Did you end up shipping any furniture or other belongings? I am just starting to work with a realtor and lender as I want to get the pre-application process moving now. If 1,000,000 move here per year. Where is all the drinking to bath water coming from? Where is all the rubbish going? How much more concrete do you need to put on Hawaii? Not to mention as someone moves here five Hawaiian families move away! please do homework before moving to Hawaii
