Moved to Los Angeles 34 years ago. There is no perfect place and just take the good with the bad and so far the good outweighs the bad for us. House paid off, retired and kids are on their own, so our living expenses are drastically reduced.

I moved here from a small CT town 25 years ago. I was miserable for the 1st 6 months but now you’d have to tie me up and drag me away to get me to leave

It does take some adjustment, especially if you come a small town. But as you said, all of my clients would have to be dragged out of here now that they have enjoyed the lifestyle here

I feel like this should've been made for the 2010s. LA, like most major metropolitan areas in the US, is really falling apart with the recent spike in crime and homelessness. Almost half of the businesses in Hollywood, Santa Monica and the valley are closed. And if you just drive through DTLA, it's pretty tragic. DTLA was on the upswing on the 2010s and prior to the "pandemic," but now it just looks like a wasteland.

@@livinginlosangelescaliforn353 Affordability. The cost of living in Las Vegas is lower than in LA. Other factors include, no state income tax, no serious homeless problem and more friendly people.

@@Rl082992 there's also homeless issues in Vegas. Every location has its pros and cons. I live in LA and love it. I only go to Vegas for vacation and it's just a 4 hour drive to get there. Best of luck on your choice.

Don’t live in the city of LA. LA County has a lot of cities that have a better quality of life without the drawbacks of a dysfunctional city bureaucracy. The traffic into LA is totally ridiculous. That’s why you avoid living in the worst congested, crime, homeless, and drug ridden areas. The downtown LA area is totally rundown. Avoid south LA. Avoid Hollywood area. Consider Orange County or Thousand Oaks or more north or east towards Palm Springs or San Bernardino.
