I moved back to Lou-E-Ville in December 2021. I’ve been away for over 32 yrs because of the military only coming back to visit family. Our newly built home was just completed in November 2022. I am excited about being near family and being an adult with the ability to enjoy being back home. You spoke of the German town area. Someone face me toward the delish-us authentic German food. Wishing all Love, Peace and Happiness.
Welcome back to "LooAvul"! There used to be a great German restaurant in Germantown, but sadly it closed during the pandemic. I haven't found another one I love.
I was stationed at Ft. Knox for awhile in the early 2000s and loved going up to Louisville.."Thunder over Louisville" was great and spent many weekend nights in the Highland area. Definitely an underrated city.
Great video! The Highlands will always be my favorite neighborhood in the world. My mom and her siblings grew up there and I grew up visiting my grandmother there for holidays and 2 weeks every summer. The first two years we were married, my husband and I chose to live in The Highlands. I live in TX now, but a little piece of my heart will always remain at my grandmother's house on Roanoke Ave.
@@danvillebelle6977 me and you both. The Highlands has been such a great area of Louisville for so long, there are always people willing to move in. I think it also depends on where in the Highlands you live. Some people here might tell me they do not have the same experiences I’ve had living so close to Bardstown Rd.
Live in Southern Indiana across the bridge from downtown Louisville. Love our area and enjoy all of the small town vibes but close to many things to do in Louisville.
Southern Indiana is a great place to be! I have a video coming out in the next few weeks about Southern Indiana. I'll link it here when it's available. Thanks for watching.
I was just there a couple days ago. My husband and I went there from Michigan to buy a car. There's some really nice looking neighborhoods their. We ate at Ramsi's (Bardstown Rd) and went to a large park in nearby Shelbyville area. Met many friendly people. Had fun. Didn't get to Kentucky Kingdom yet. We'll return in August.
@@SmokeyThaLion it’s too spread out for me to think of it as a city. There are still operating farms inside the metro. I remember the county/city merger and I hope all the townships keep their identity as time goes on.
Next do one about the outlining areas around Louisville. I grew up in Oldham County and now live in Henry County. Love the area and can be in downtown in about 25 minutes. Still get to enjoy the city but live in a country atmosphere. Cheaper home prices also.
The people in Louisville make the city special. They are welcoming, warm, and go out of there way to help one another. Once I almost lost my life on the freeway b/c of ice and was pretty shook up one morning. Like 30 cars stopped on there way to work to make sure I was alright. Later the cop that drove me home said many people had called them to get me. It was surprising and inspiring.
We are looking to move to KY, purchase property ect. What I would have much preferred to hear would be the following. How far is the local post office to certain areas, where is the nearest Costco, BJs wholesale or comparable for food purchasing, not tourism or tourism based restaurant's. Where people buy their meats and veggies from. Are there local farmers markets? How far the drive to Nashville is, how far the drive to Indy is. What areas are the most crime ridden and what areas are safer. For example, in Indy you have Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Fort Wayne which are the main areas to look at. Which area is best to purchase a home with land with the ability to build a large shed on the property. What are the year-round temperatures, how is the snow season.Otherwise thank you for the information posted, would love to know more.
Thanks so much for watching! These are great questions. I am happy to help and discuss further. Send me a email to discuss katie.skeen@gatewoodproperties.com. Definitely check out some of my other videos, which address several of these topics. But several I haven't addressed, so I'll add to my upcoming video list and link here when they are finished!
As a person born and raised in Kentucky I can tell you this woman who made this video doesn't know much of what she's talking about... I live in burkesville Kentucky and the community here is extremely friendly,.. we are the definition of southern hospitality... I'm insulted at this moment that she knows what she's talking about but she has no southern accent.... One thing I know for certain if you move here and you are respectable person you'll be loved
Born and raised 54 yrs im here to tell you all, if I had a way out id run, it’s like playing Russian roulette with your life everytime you walk out your door !! Murders all day everyday, the gangs and drugs has ruined our beautiful city it’s sick the cops will arrest but then judges will let murderers and rapist right out the same damn night their locked up it’s sickening !!! Pls don’t send your kids here to live until they get a grip on the evil devastation that has taken over…. Oh a edit and let’s not forget the way their raising taxes on utility cost that and rent is stealing a lot of homes away from a lot of people that can not afford such greed.. oh and one more edit if you like your vehicle this isn’t the city for you cause car jacking is a constant here so yeah plan to Uber also..
Great question! It depends… are you renting or buying? Will you or a spouse be working anywhere in Louisville? I’m happy to help suggest a few neighborhoods. Also, side note, my husband graduated from SBTS! You are going to love Southern and Louisville. Let me know how I can help 😊
@@ApostleMooretv if you want to be near campus I would suggest Crescent Hill or St. Matthews neighborhoods. When my husband was a student we rented an apartment at carriage house north and it was very affordable.
I have lived south of Louisville for over twenty years. The Louisville Metro has a high violent crime rate. Area of Germantown, mentioned in this video, is particularly sketchy. Let me put it this way; you won't see any Germans living in Germantown.
Germantown and Schnitzelburg are areas that have been revitalized over the past few years. Unfortunately, crime in Louisville is increasing, as is the case with many cities across the US. Thanks for watching!
That's a great question! The public school system can be a little tricky. For middle school, I would suggest Barret Traditional Middle School, Jefferson County Traditional Middle School, and Noe Middle School. Make sure to check your address in the JCPS school finder to see which schools the particular address is eligible for. apps.jefferson.kyschools.us/demographics/schoolfinder.aspx
Great question! When I talk about monthly income in the video, I got the information from the Economic Policy Institute. The budget has changed slightly since the filming on the video. You can get more info from their website: www.epi.org/resources/budget/ I hope that helps!
I would leave this city if I could! Been here since 1985. Used to be great, but is now crime ridden. Made the list of highest murder rates, last year I think. Only thing keeping me here is an elderly family member I care for, who refuses to leave.
I love how you just completely ignore the West End and the Historical Portland neighborhood. Typical of the way the city feels about it's oldest neighborhood. Portland is home to the old Marine Hospital currently being refurbished as a monument to all of the river workers who needed medical treatment along the Ohio river. Not to mention home to the first city sanctioned baseball league park. There are plenty of historical homes and buildings in the Portland neighborhood. I have been a Portland resident my entire life and I'm saddened by the fact that you failed to even mention this great neighborhood, which by the way, is currently being revitalized. New restaurants and businesses are investing in the future of Portland neighborhood.
Louisville is always growing, and people there will talk to anyone. Not a stuck up vibe at all . They will talk to strangers, and most in Louisville, seemed to always try to help out folk. Couple of areas are now foreigners, and 20 years ago 99% white. Dont mind helping folk, but to tear up where u live is most horrible culture I've seen. Scary part is theres blocks and blocks of neighborhoods, and not one house is a married couple.
I thought you might be interested in my new video about the west end of Louisville. Take a look: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-95Q7kB9xNVE.html
You stayed clear of anything west of 4th and south of what, 3rd. People, if you're truly wanting to know louisville, it's real simple, the areas she mentioned here are extremely high priced. With the only exception being Germantown. And where Churchhill is, that's the ghetto. The folks who live there are overwhelmingly below the poverty line. NuLu is a brilliant spin of southern gentrification. If you're going to make a video on Louisville, be open and honest, don't hand pick your favorite WHITE areas
lived here all my life 62 years.jefferson county is to liberal. way to much crim. when i retire am taking my my money= taxes and moving out of this city called louisville
