Why tf would you let your wife tell you what to get and not get. As soon as that happens you are no longer a man, but a bitch, she will cheat on you and lose massive respect for you. Smfh... Be a man, it's your life you little puss boy.
Thanks Peter, I appreciated the positive feedback. I'll start another project soon, most likely something a bit simpler after getting through this project....
@@Mezzmoengineering the deck is like that with the discharge to the right for outlining the property. You can do the outline opposite but for regular cutting you could swap the anti scalping rollers
Lol...my 1989 Ariens Gt18, with the front dozer blade and 3 point plow attached, will out cut that thing 2 to 1, with a 60" deck, and leave a golf course manicured cut.
@@PeterAndersons lol....you don't know what ur talking about. A 1989 model Ariens GT is the best built tractor ever made. It shares its platform with Gravely. It's got a Kohler Magnum twin cylinder 18 with over 40 lb. ft. of torque and weighs in at almost 2000 pounds. Ive snaked 22" diameter 10 foot long logs out of the woods with it and can mow grass down to a 1/2 inch tall at 12 mph with no scalping and no clumping. Its even got power steering and a 950 pound (cat 1) 3 point hydraulic lift capacity. It sold for $4200 brand new in 1989. I've got all the original paperwork to prove it. Anybody who knows anything about real garden tractors can school you on the golden years of build quality from 1965 to 1995 on Ariens, Deeres (I own a LT190 with a Johnny bucket), Cub Cadets ( I own a 1969 127 model with electric lift and a sleeve hitch ), Simplicity, Wheel Horse, Bolens, CASE, etc. But, thanks for your input, Junior. 😂🤣 OBTW....I also own 2 Statesman mud mowers I built myself that will each run over 36 mph that are riding on 27" Executioners with locked Peerless's and a built 1970 CASE pulling tractor. You stick to your monkey metal new "build quality" Poulans and Murrays. Next!!!
I never thought there was anyway to get the grass to fly out of my lawn faster until I watched this still got a ways to go but the motivation still helps. It would help a lot more if there were these kinds of mowers from th get go maybe then I wouldn’t think of mowing the lawn as much of a chore anymore
I appreciate the fact that you actually mow with this beast. The only concern I would have is mowing over certain terrain and the front shocks allowing the deck to bottom out too hard.
Hey Norm, true. This is already a beast. I have another project planned in a few months time thats gonna be taking things to the next level. Don't want to reveal it now as its still just a plan, but it will be for something the race track and will be >250hp....
Wow! Looks pretty cool! Awesome mower, and its even got a horn. Looks like something my brother would try to make. I like it! No wait. I love it. And you could always take the deck off too. Hey are you an Aussie? Just listening to you talking is nice. Good day mate.
Good point. I do have a kill switch on the seat to stop the blades so that's a start....Could just hook that up to the ignition too. Its more of a show piece these days so all good
Deck being back to front, it’s an airflow thing. Normal side eject, when driving forward, you shouldn’t get any drop out of grass. Drive backwards, essentially as you are with your deck, and you have cuttings drop out, rather than going out the side. You can see it in a few shots 😉
I think the only reason why the deck orientation matters is that usually the grass gets thrown to the side and backwards, whereas on this it gets thrown to the side and forwards... Technically, there might be a greater chance of getting grass or dust in your face with this oriention...
Hi Markus, after trying this a few times I can confirm the deck orientation doesn't make much difference. As you say grass discharges a right angles maybe slightly forward. I think if anything having it discharge to the right means grass exits as soon as its cut so it probably allows a touch more time to discharge grass. Certainly having it this way doesn't change the actual cut at all. Was interesting to test...
Cool Mower, as far as the deck being backwards, all mowers are designed to have the leading edge of the cutting blade slightly lower than the trailing edge, in this way the leading edge cuts the grass blades and when the trailing edge goes over it it misses the grass blade, if you reverse this angle the blade will be cutting the turf twice, unnecessary load on the mower, your mower may not be bothered by the extra load, I still believe if you are looking for the best cut, with all the clippings removed from under the deck, put the deck on correctly. Make a trial run, cut a row like it is, then cut a row in reverse, (if you have a reverse, maybe that is not possible) then you make the choice
Hi Roger, I have reverse and have tried that. Dont forget I have adjustment so I've adjusted it so the blade leads at the front of my mower just like normal, the only difference is the discharge is on the other side. The blade rotation, leading edge etc are all original
***Make sure now that you installed deck on backwards. That the blades are spinning in the correct direction. Also on the inside of the deck it has a ramp level thing that directs the grass out of the side which it looks like yours is doing it backwards from how the cut grass is coming out. However very good job. Have a blessed night and always give him credit GN***
Hi Mr Grey, The deck is not running backwards. Its just rotated by 180 degrees. The blades still rotate as they did originally, the only thing I did is allow grass to exit from the left instead of the right by rotating the actual deck. Rotating the deck doesn't change the blade rotation. I'm surprised that people think I would spend 2 years building this and then not realise if the blades were spinning backwards?
Reason that I believe it may be like that many times when people mow, they don't just mow grass. In autumn, there are leaves and if you approach leaves with the two round parts with a v in the front it could pile up the leaves at act like a plow it does so even with the v in the front much more possibly with a scoop. Furthermore as far as the design goes its got usually more protection in the front many times people hit rocks log stumps putting the entire weight of the machine and Rider onto the deck. but Jesus Christ man that sing a sick it's the first time I've seen it I thought it was the world's fastest Honda lawn mower than I looked closer. WTFball$.
Haha, thanks Tom. Glad you like it. It really has come up much better than I'd hoped for. All the details are in the videos if you want to see how I built this beast...
When you mow rule of thumb always blow shavings into your yard if they stay in road become wet people can slip slide and also makes your curb appeal look super tacky...
TO show it cuts grass, check the video as you will see I cleared the roadway. That Pathway is my driveway, same thing. Just blew it clean after making the video
This is freaking awesome. Mowing made fun. "honey, I'm going out to mow the lawn. Wife: what? You just mowed it yesterday. Husband: yeah, and it's tall again. Well not really, I just want to riiiide! Vroom vroom, scrrrrt.💪👍
While a very cool mower, I have a couple of questions. 1) Does it have reverse? 2) Are the blades turning in the right direction? I noticed that there was grass that looked like it wasn't cut after you went over it.
blueknight hi, sure it has reverse. I fitted an Audi gearbox so it now has 30 forward gears and 6 reverse gears, check earlier videos on this. Of course, the blades rotate the right way, all I’ve done is rotated the deck 180 degrees so it releases grass from the left instead of the right.
Yeah, needs some fine tuning. Also going to replace the rings soon, I tried my luck using the old rings as they look ok and I didn't want to buy new ones. Anyway, on order now and soon there will be no smoke
Every mower I've had if I mowed in reverse it wouldn't blow all the grass out out the discharge chute but instead it would just scatter it on the ground.
Very true, yes I cleared it directly after mowing. You can see the road is clean when I show the grass after it was cut near the roadway. The other "road" with the plants is actually my private driveway, but that was all cleaned up too...
Hi Neil, Engine is from a GSX400. The entire build is on this channel, just check my other videos. Every detail is there step by step.....The engine overhaul is in my earlier videos around part 6.
@@neilfroggycrompton2466 Haven't really tested top speed and really built more for mowing and towing. When I took it out on the mower track I got up to approx 70km/hr. It lacks safety for a track like that and was quite difficult to stay on the seat, haha. I think top speed now would be around 80km/hr with the way I've geared it. I could easily change gearing to more top end, could see 100 easy....not planning on that as the overall design isn't for those speeds and would be deadly if something went wrong..
