the MPC key detection is actually pretty good. it said your sample was in A#m, you had the bass plugin set to Am instead and said it sounded better when you switched it to Bbm - which is the same as A#m.

beautiful... Just bought my 17 year old daughter an SP404 since she's been fkkn around with a dodgy software sequencer for half a year and I felt sorry for her, loading it into Logic after struggling with it... If she progresses on the 404, I'm gonna be getting her a One for the front end. That Akai is a beautiful machine.

Dope video as always bredren. SP 404 is a great tool for writing effects also for live performance you can do some nasty things with it. I like the unit you had in previous videos the eq unit it sounded dope the different textures and tones if you still have access to it can you do more vids on it that maybe a good investment in the future. Also can you do a full mix video using only stock plugins I know you hate them but for the people just getting started with mixing/mastering to learn how to do it coming from out of the box 📦 Always gratitude for the content bredren 🫡💯💪🏾

I’m using mpc one i love fx of 404 but too expensive just for using fx like you. Did you try korg kaoss pad effect on mpc one do you know cheapest alternative ? Is there any other device who simulate cassette effect ? Or at least can we connect mpc one on a sound card and add vst fx via a daw ? Good job as always 😊

nice video! i have them both but i haven't been experimenting much, love what u did here, as i was thinking to do the same in a slight different way, and there's where my question goes 😁 Basically, i wanted to feed the MPC in the SP404 and assign it to an FX Bus (let's say A, and use it just for the long samples, instruments chop). Then on the SP just make the drums and assign all the drums to FX Bus B, so i can have separate fx on melodic and drums track. But i haven't tried this method for lack of time 😅. Do you know if that would work ? i had some problems when feeding other instruments to the SP (i.e. i could not play the SP). Great video, subscribing right now! peace!!!

I have both, gave it another shot only for the FX, but SP still is not for me. I am not that "I use stutter every 3sec and call it a day"-guy. I want to mangle samples more in a synthesizer noodling way and therefore the SP feels too quirky and limited. I would rather pair the MPC with a Digitakt in this regard.

I prefer the mpc myself too but i got the sp404 mk2 and i think im gonna return it cause i dont think i need it plus i got to upload one shots from cookin soul packs or beat butcher or drums that knock and it says unsupported files so that was a major deal breaker i loaded them on the sd correctly because a few worked but that made me not want it plus a few other limitation issues what do you think you think i should keep it i feel like i can get the sane effects with flavor pro idk.

You can resample your MPC to Sp404 with effects BACK into the mpc.

Is it possible to record the effects you make with the SP on your MPC? So if i want an intro with the cassette fx then i can record that fx from the SP to the mpc.

As long as you're running your audio from the MPC into the SP and then out of the SP back into the MPC then you this shouldn't be an issue. If you want to burn the effects in then you'll probably have to utilize the looper function on the MPC to essentially resample the audio within the MPC. Easier way to do this would be to use the MPC as the sequencer and the SP as the sampler so you only have to go out of your SP and into the MPC. Looper would still be the easiest way to burn in the effects on the MPC but the latter route would require less cables.

Can you PLEASE mention how you’ve routed these? I can’t get mine to work. You’re plugging your MPC’s main outs into the SP’s line ins? And then line outs of the SP into what? It doesn’t work going back into the MPC for me so what do I do?

SP outs to MPC line ins. Be sure to have line in monitoring enabled on the MPC.

10:32 Sample was A# Minor. You had Jura in A minor and then skipped to B minor. You Nearly got it. Worked in B Minor though 😃 Great video.

Not sure what you fully mean but you could lay a ghost note when you want to sample to stop playing. Write in the same pad on the grid and turn the velocity to zero.

Not everything, the SP does have its limitation specially compared to the MPC workflow. You definitely could sample sequence and export a beat within the SP but it’s just a lot quicker within the MPC workflow. Of course everybody’s preference is going to vary and some people are much more fluence with the SP so it is a preference you just get a lot more with the MPC.
