On Monday, MPs used a petitions debate in Westminster Hall to debate the case for granting a bespoke visa for Palestinians trapped in Gaza. Subscribe to our new podcast now, or you're a silly goose: linktr.ee/pubcast
Why has no UK media or political party reported on the killing of another UN worker, in a UN livery car, by the IDF in Rafah. Plenty about it online, and from UN HQ, but no UK coverage
@@RainerMichellemost likely Israel since those supplies also feed Hamas fighters. Also Israel has a history of attacks to scare of humanitarian aid. Namely the aid trucks.
Or, counterpoint - no visas required if you stop Israel’s attacks, sanction them on settler violence and take affirmative action to restore the 1967 borders. Then you have the awful task of rebuilding Palestine.
At this point just stopping Israel won’t be enough. Gaza is flattened, the infrastructure is destroyed, the hospitals are gutted, the doctors and engineers and police officers and the rest are decimated. Even if all killing stopped today and all the aid that is needed was immediately allowed to enter there would still not be an adequate life support structures there for anyone elderly, disabled, sick or with young children for months, possibly years. Every Palestinian able to seek refuge in a third country would free up resources and liveable space for those more physically able to remain and start rebuilding
Why are you not showing any of the responses to the questions the MPs raise? Really poor quality video in that regard, its not a debate if you only show the talking points and not the responses...
Absolutely right and it’s also the UK’s obligation considering they created this mess in the first place. However, the UK needs to recognise an official state, make sure it’s an official member of the UN, help end occupation and help rebuild the entire infrastructure / economy.
I am not sure if Mrs Apsana has seen the map of the Middle East recently. There are several countries around Gaza and yest still none of them wants to help. Ask these questions there.
@@EC-xr9ek Also how did the Jewish people arrive in Palestine? was it because that was the place they wanted to go? or was it because all of Europe didn't want them and they forced them there?
They want the Palestinians to come here? Do some research, find out why neighbouring Muslim countries don’t let the Palestinians in. Look at the Palestinians in Jordon, black September, civil war, terrorism and trying to overthrow the king and government of the country that gave them refuge. Palestinians in kuwait who sided with the Iraqis during their invasion, in Lebanon the Palestinian liberation organisation was the catalyst for the long running civil war in Lebanon committing many atrocities and massacres towards Christian’s. Egypt won’t let them in because they are afraid of letting terrorists and militants into their country, destabilising it and threatening the 40 year old peace treaty with Isreal.
Why on earth are the politicians debating UK visas for Palestinians now? This debate should have taken place seven months ago. What is happening here is nothing more than yet another Westminster con of the public. Westminster is clearly feeling the heat from the General Public over what is happening in Palestine which is why they are debating this topic now. The politicians in Westminster are desperate to show the General Public that they are doing something for the Palestinians except one thing they could, nay should, be doing they are not namely blocking arms sales to Israel and demanding, not meekly begging, Netanyahu ceases his murderous genocidal attacks on Gaza.
@@SurrogateJim-bo3dv fake comment. cookie cutter propaganda talking point. nobody buys that shite anymore, other than invested racists and supremacists. Exposed.
The UK was in a bad position when we took in Ukrainian refugees, we are in a worse position now, we simply don’t have the infrastructure to take in more people, we have a housing crisis, cost of living crisis, don’t have enough teachers and schools, NHS is on its knees and our prisons are so full prisoners are being released early. Can’t even look after the population we’ve already got.
I suspect she's only trying to look out for Palestinians bc they are Muslims or perhaps bc it's the "popular" thing to do. Aspana Begum's constituency in the Whitechapel area is infested with Rodents. Waste collection is on its knees, the streets look like a third world ghetto, and I wouldn't want to be walking there alone at night with my phone in hand. Her kind thinks being an MP is supposed to be everything anti-british and it makes me sick to my stomach. Have we removed all the homeless (including veterans) from our streets, has the NHS wait times been drastically reduced, are young people like myself now able to get on the housing ladder, have we successfully integrated the huge number of immigrants that have come to this island in the last ten years?? 🤬🤦🏼♂️
Well the uk should stop its complicity in genocide and look after its people. Your government and nato countries are making them refugees. Don’t blame the Palestinians blame the government!!!!
have they looked into what happens in near every single instance when Palestinians are accepted into other countries? there is a reason no neighbouring countries want to take them.
Your right julie ,but we are so stupid and may take them.We have lots of muslims here and they are brainwashed.its a joke roll on when reform uk strike
If they stopped an deported the illegal immigrants then maybe the genuine ones could come but the uk cant help us living here never minds cater for asyli3m seekers plus illegal immigrants it has to end some were the tax payer cant continue paying for the world
@@ChezGeno Actually a lie. Egypt doesn't take in any Gazan or Syrian refugees, hence why they have one of the most fortified borders in the world with Gaza.
Palestinians are BANNED from all Arab countries because in the past they have started wars in their host countries, Palestinians are dangerous, this is why Egypt or Jordan immediately open fire if a Palestinian tries to cross the border, while Ukrainians are allowed to go where they want, in the EU they have free movement and they get travel documents, Ukrainians are European neighbours, they can enter the UK visa free with their EU travel documents, like all other EU citizens
The world doesn't run according to your whims, mate. A blanket visa approval process for Islamic terrorists...just because...is suicidal and most of the country would oppose it
@@ZafrodHasselfrau1999 Actually, I think you will find I speak for the masses, If they can't find a safe country who want to take them in between Gaza and the UK, what does that tell you?
@@andymcdonald8922how are the Palestinians meant to get to the Arab countries? You also missed the part where they have family here who could sponsor them, the suggestion wasn't to take any and all. Also, the bulk of historical refugees from Palestine are in neighbouring Jordan and Lebanon, so there goes that talking point.
Why are we judging ourselves on the actions of other countries and not the standards of our own values as a nation which is supposedly committed to humanitarianism and international law
Because there is a fear that allowing war refugees into neighboring regions - people who will fight for their right of return - will result in the spilling over into those regions. When will you clowns start asking the right questions? E.g. what is Israel's endgame once Gaza has been levelled? What do they think will happen if they level Rafah?
this has been addressed a million times and if you still are asking this question you are thick as hell. If you take in Palestinians, Israel takes the land. They have no right to Gaza, and have already shown they will take and occupy and not return land. No country wants to be complicit in that.
Arab countries don’t want to let them in because a) No one wants to deal with massive numbers of refugees, b) they don’t want to empty the land, c) Arab countries who previously took in Palestinian refugees experienced extremism and uprisings
Jordan, Syria and Lebanon took in Thousands of Palestinian refugees during the ethnic cleansing Isreal committed at the time of its creation circa 1948. Egypt refused hence Isreal created the Gaza strip for those refugees cleansed from the South and West of Mandated Palestine.
@@user-sd3ik9rt6d if their neighbours are not willing to lead by example then no, we shouldn't feel forced to take in people from half the world away with a vastly different culture. When Ukraine was invaded nobody was out there demanding the middle east take in cultural seperate eastern europeans that don't know the language, why the double standards now? The refugees would likely settle better in nearby countries with a shared language, culture, and higher likelihood of family ties anyway.
1. UK has a massive role in this mess (balfour deceleration, sykes picot, etc). 2. All neighbouring countries have hundreds kf thousands or even millions of Palestine refugees. 3. None of the neighbouring countries are supporting a genocidal government with arms sales...
The nazis said the same thing about the Jews, why doesn't israel stop bombing and allow Palestinian liberation so people can be free. Why not target the root cause of this issue, wait its because we support the occupation and lack of human rights of Palestinians. You might want to look in the mirror as to what you are saying, as it comes across as ignorant.
@@nadeemahmed9804 because when Palestinians are free, they kill Israelis, because Palestinians do not accept the existence of the Jewish State, just like the Russians do not accept the existence of Ukraine as a free country
Ask yourself why no country that borders Palestine will give them refuge or protection in there country ,not one single country will give them sanctuary. Why why is that well it's because of there ideology they don't want it in there country and that's the hard facts.
Because Ukrainians are like minded people with whom we share many cultural values, and Palestinians are extremely different in some quite fundamental cultural ways. Theres a massive islamist problem in Gaza and it's obviously unwise to import large chunks of that into your country. I dont believe there should be no immigration from the region, but clearly there are unique and particular concerns that apply to gazans, that do not apply to Ukrainians, and so the levels of immigration should be lower and the standards applied more rigorous and stringent. I know some of you will think this is some wildly offensive take, but its palpably and obviously a mainstream thought on the topic.
There is a far right problem amongst Ukrainians; should we be importing people who are hostile to British people with black and brown skin (irrespective of their religion).
@@Zen-rd9npthe UK is still about 45/50% Christian and our culture was built on Christian values… there was a separation between state and religion in the past so we are governed secularly, but British values are based on Christian values, and the CofE/Christianity is literally our “official” religion.
@@Zen-rd9np Yes, Europe is just plagued with those fundamental christians killing and raping while shouting "in the name of the father, the mother, and the holy ghost" alright.... It isn't people with skills that will come, more a different culture. Palestinians do not need to come to The UK. They will be better off going to Qatar, to be with many of their leaders, who live in luxurious accommodates, eat delicious food, along with plenty of wealth.
Ones a war, where hostages are involved, and cruelty and horror has been perpetuated by both sides for generations in the name of religion. The other is an invasion. Hope that cleared that up for you.
This is just pure misinformation at this point. Gaza is occupied by israel. It is an open air concentration camp where the idf are picking people off like fish in a barrel. Except with dumb bombs. Compare the civilian casualty rate between that two invasions and the true difference will become abundantly clear to you
