What I love so much about Mike Patton's covers of 'cheesy' songs (I Started a Joke, This Guy's in Love with You, Easy) is the toggle between lounge singer and vocal acrobat seemingly making love to the song. It's like his version of the Pixies soft/loud/soft dynamic. In some sense it gives him license to showcase his unmatchable vocal capabilities without simply showing off, but I don't think it would come across like this without true reverence of the material. Of course this here is my favorite rendition of this one.
@@wm1573you ever seen live? Mike Patton has one of those few magical voices that recording equipment cannot do justice. Live up close it rattles your rib cage with vibration and captures your heart.
What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No not just for some, but for everyone Lord, we don't need another mountain There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb There are oceans and rivers enough to cross Enough to last 'til the end of time What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No, not just for some, but for everyone Lord, we don't need another meadow There are cornfields and wheatfields enough to grow There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine Oh listen, Lord, if you want to know What the world needs now is love, sweet love It's the only thing that there's just too little of What the world needs now is love, sweet love No, not just for some, oh, but just for every, every, everyone
come on. this version is fucking amazing. patton will go down in history as a freak, but he did brillant job. I just wish he will get the recognition he deserves, he just did a better job than almost "star". he is, and always will be, the better musician/singer, his voice is just a gift.
one of the most beautiful songs ever composed,.. Burt Baccarrach for ever. as long as the artists who do cover him are genuine like Mike Patton is.......
I always watch this video before I go sleep. It makes me so calm, so peaceful. It pours a pure love into my heart. Great!!!! Has somebody got this version on mp3? Sorry for my English.
This is radio-friendly because it was written by burt bacharach, it is a pop song from the late 60's. This is a cover, and a genius one at that with the addition of the siren etc. This is something that the chilis, just like you, might not understand. So dont criticise what u dont understand. btw I also dig the chilis.
I never called anyone an idiot buddy. I said he might not understand it like I do. I'm not saying anyone would be of lesser intellect, just that they have a different opinion on what is good art so they cannot see the genius that I would. But thanks for your contribution oh wise one.
