I use this stuff & its superb. I do apply it a lot more liberally than you mentioned. Obviously you don't want it pooling up, but just wash it over the model working from top to bottom & avoid any pooling. It really brings out the details in the miniature as it etches away any residues & unevenness detracting from the sculpt. It makes painting so much easier when you can see the details unambiguously.

I'm looking for a solution to use vallejo acrylic colors on bare metal. Do you think this stuff will etch it enough so that I don't have to use another primer before using the acrylics?

Yup, that's what I do, I would throw layer like vallejo primer on top to be safe tho.

@Dave's World Metal Primer... I wasn't aware they made something like this. Spray can based paints & primers are often more expensive and doesn't have as much as the bottled version, but you're paying extra for the convenience of spraying as opposed to brushing. Could you use a little bit of thinner and use this metal primer in an air brush?

I was asked this earlier, I would not recommend it as is a metal etcher.. And airbrush is made of metal.

This is very useful, thank you! But I'm still not sure, can I use my usual citadel primer on top of this? The same one I use for plastic?? Or does it have to be a specific one for metal?

You can use any primer over... This acts like a clear primer that bites the metal allowing to paint over. Have fun painting.

Welcome the the GunPla addiction lol As far as paints it's what your comfortable with and have access to, new people I recommend acrylics as easy to work with and if make mistakes easy to fix. Your second question is little harder, imagination and modification is best here, there's not a "list" of kits with interchangeable parts for mods, lot you will be cutting, and gluing to suit your needs. I would airprish as is, you don't need to thin it unlike regular thinner.

I think Mr Metal Primer R has retarder in it. This allows it to dry slower and more evenly, letting the solution level.

Question: can the bottle one go into an airbrush? Or as a lacquer can it be thinned with Mr Levelling Thinner or other lacquer thinners?

I've never run through airbrush but it's thin enough by its self. Personally I would not use in airbrush as it's a metal etcher and your airbrush is made of metal tho I've heard of people doing it, I just wouldn't chance it.

No oooo, as stated this is a metal primer designed to etc I to metal and a lacquer product so it will tear up plastic. I have video coming Tuesday On plastic primers but you can use Mr surfacer on plastic.

To be honest you can use any paint you like one you prep. Just remember the paint rules strongest to weakest. Lacquer - enamel - acrylic

Just means if you use lacquer on enamel or acrylic it will eat those, where you can layer enamel on lacquer or acrylic on lacquer or enamel with no effect.

@@STARSHADOWWOODWORKS certainly I use that for cleaning etch, as you say acts as a etch primer, basicly mild acid, dont get malt vinger though it makes you hungry for chips 😂, nice video
