We have all heard this saying before. We are also aware of doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. The point is that Guy Cisternino has lifted HEAVY ASS WEIGHTS for years however 2 shoulder surgeries and wear and tear on his joints later... its time to change it up in the name of longevity.
"I would point the finger at these guys and say if only they would've switched things up they would have lasted longer in their career. Now I am doing the same thing. Well I am looking forward to trying something new."
Guy Cisternino and Jeremy Potvin team up at Destination for a chest workout built by John Meadows. The idea is similar to the way hunter and Bryan train in that they dont waste energy on the "warm up" sets and then give an all out effort on "working sets."
Needless to say it kicked both Guy and Jeremy's ass here. Check it out and leave your thoughts on the session.

Meadows knows his stuff so I'm sure this will be a good switch for you Guy!!! Respect for trying to prolong your career and do something new!!! It's not always easy to go against what got you where you're at but you got to remember that a lot of really successful bodybuilders have used this style of training!!! Let me tell you a quick story, a coupe years ago I blew out the meniscus in both my knees within a couple days of each other. My left one I blew out under a heavy 4 rep max 485lb squat and it was instant, like a rubber band snapping. My right knee was a slow wear down on the outside lateral part that took months. I felt something was wrong, but it never seemed bad enough to keep me from lifting. Ultimately, it got to the point that it was just as bad off as my other knee overtime. Now, they both just happened to go at the same time, but they came from two different mechanisms. One came from lifting really heavy weight and the other too much volume, right? Wrong! I thought for the longest time that they both tore for different reasons, but the reality of it is they both tore for the same reason. They both were extremely overworked from doing too much volume and that's the moral of the story.

You gain at least 20% strength increase when working out with Guy. What a fuking beast. Love his attitude in the gym. Beast mode for real.

Guy you really need to get with Hunter and train with him at least once since this is how he trains think since you just started training in this manner think he would be a real asset would love to see ya guys training together while you are there!!!

Ppl can say what they want about him.but guys a fckin beast.and I think his hard work and dedication outshine his genetics and limitations.and real recognizes real and that's why he's loved and will be remembered in being.his mindset is something more ppl should try to achieve in whatever you do

When you say you did 8 working sets are you counting the feeder sets, or only the last set of each exercise?

In John's program it's usually the last 2 or 3. Set 1: usually rpe 9 Set 2: Rpe 10 your last heavy set. Set 2a: a drop set. Set 2b: another drop set.

Only on roids would a Monday through sat split, doing one muscle a groupe a day, One muscle group per week, would you grow. Trying doing back once a week without roids and see where that gets you.
