Happy belated birthday to Disneyland's New Fantasyland, opened on May 25, 1983! Although the anniversary was yesterday, I have a few more pieces of source audio (For now) that I wanted to, but simply didn't have enough time to upload yesterday. The first is the fantastic rendition of The Merrily Song used in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride since its 1983 reopening, specifically in the original pitch. This pitch has actually been higher since 2008, although I've yet to figure out why. Here is a basic (× 2) loop of the nearly 6 minute mix of instrumentals of this classic song from Walt Disney's animated adaptation of The Wind in the Willows (1949). Mr. Toad, Macbadger, Moley, the Weasels, and other characters from this adaption of the 1908 book, have been used at Disneyland's Mr Toad's Wild Ride since opening in 1955. However, besides the queue mural and (Since 1983) the large bust of Toad in the queue, Mr. Toad still never physically appears in his ride. I believe this is because unlike the other dark rides, Mr. Toad's infamous Motorcar being the vehicle is a fantastic way to convince guests that they have taken Toad's role in this wild adventure. A different version of this song was used mostly throughout Toad Hall from 1955-82, and although the original queue didn't have speakers, a 1961 refurb and 1970's recording indicate that version was also played in the queue starting around 1961. When the ride was given a massive refurb for New Fantasyland in Sept 1982-May 1983, it was practically rebuilt, with mostly redone sets, audio, and a few additional scenes between the Warehouse and Train Collision. The plot is very similar to how it's always been, but the enhanced and additional scenes do a great job adding to this classic attraction. I also think this audio, which adapts several classic instrumentals from the film with additional ones, is also really fantastic and at least at Disneyland's version, seems to work better in this queue than the shorter, 1 minute 1955-82 version. It also really helps that Mr. Toad's queue and façade were amazingly enhanced in 1983, discarding the old plywood tournament tents in favor of a full recreation of Toad Hall, Mr. Toad's stately manor from the story, with many details emulating the 1949 film. Because this queue visually has stayed very much the same since 1983, despite the audio pitch changing in 2008, I used several of my own pictures from 2021-23 of various times I've been in here, at day and night. Special credit to the absolutely amazing website DisneyChris.com for providing this audio. I hope you enjoy this great audio!
I do not own any of the audio used in this video. All audio is owned by Disney, and special credit to DisneyChris.com for releasing this audio in his New Fantasyland chapter.
