Kids have secrets and parents are not always with the kids. I was always into thinks and books. But internet has no limits. Kids could always tap into another name if they do not want their parent to know. Anyone could make false identity. It's not secure.

I totally agree with you, but it is much more complicated than that. You could stop your own child but then they are around other kids who are online that show them things. Some companies make their porn sites similar to a cartoon names that is popular with children so the child inadvertently find them. Teens know all the work arounds to get through parental controls. The main thing is that these companies need to be held accountable to make the changes occur.

If you try to force your children to cow to your demands, especially when it comes to their social life, expect them to revolt against you, hard. This needs to be changed at a societal level, not an individual level.

Well, parents do their best to protect their children but I know kids do things behind their back and some kids despite monitoring go beyond ways to get exposed to so many contents online without anyone’s knowledge (as their age is of curiosity and carefree), that is the problem. pass the laws? if section 230 is repealed, online privacy and anonimity would need to be totally removed, in order to avoid countless millions of lawsuits every other month. it's also the wrong way to go about it since approaching the problem at the platform level for every single platform is unmanageable. would chat apps be considered platforms? what about self hosted email servers? parents need to monitor their children. theres far too many well intentioned "think of the children" laws trying to be passed that will end online privacy (earn it being the worst), in a world where any wrongthink against government can get a chinese person says online can get them and their children into trouble later.

Maybe for this one meeting, with family members present, they could’ve instructed some of these professionals to maybe not use their phones for a few hours? Your internet service provider. That means that social media companies will be monitoring all your speech and limiting it, to prevent from getting sued. That also means that your ISP will be literally watching you because they can get sued as well. You transfer anything they don't like and they can nuke your access from the internet.

Section 230 protects them both. You get rid of that, and Twitter and facebook will limit their own free speech or get sued. When they don't do it... government will literally move in to limit it. Also section 230 protects your internet service provider as well. So they can start getting sued as well. That means the people who you buy your internet service can now start looking in at what you're doing and try to regulate or control you. This isn't between Zuckerberg and Elon... lol
