MS 201T C-M: Did mods make a difference?

The dancing saws on the floor at the end and in the background while cutting were awesome.

I'd like to see the comparison after both saws are broke in. Great video though, I like that you did a cut with one, then a cut with the other as that takes out some of the variables. Another thing that would help with that is using new chains on both saws.

I’ve done this to ALL of my 201’s now. Honestly, a stock 201 feels more like a TOY compared to a ported 201. But the end of this video is great with the two chainsaws spinning around on the ground! Lmao

Brand new exact chains and run it again. Chain tooth and raker file by hand has too many inconsistency not to mention how the chains were treated priorly. Metal molecular structure changes with varying forces applied while cutting, heat levels chain subjected too , type of wood cut and bar condition as well as cooling intervals and heat dissipation between cutting sessions. A true saw off to evaluate stock versus mods..... New chains bars and air filters is way to get fairly accurate results . Add tachometer to get true power out put and motor load deficits. Just saying. Good stuff my man and there WILL BE PEOPLE MAKING DECISIONS UPON YOUR FINDINGS. GOOD TO SEE A FELLOW ARBORIST WHO LOVES HIS CRAFT. I RETIRED 14 YEARS AGO AFTER 16 IN. Career change to paramedicine in a busy 911 system. Needed a new type of adrenaline rush fix.

What size bar? Looks a bit bigger than I prefer on my top handle saws. But I do not have a 201t or 200t. My favorite for climbing are echo cs355t and an old stihl 019t.

I’m looking for a easy pull start quality saw for my wife. I noticed both saw bars were jumping equally and more than I am accustomed to seeing. Is this typical for this model or could it be the depth gauges are a bit too low to hp?

Why so much bounce on the saw on the right?

2-3 seconds less will make a big difference when it comes to safety. You could tell the stock one just could not keep the rpms up. Well worth the mod. Are you going to mod the new one?

saw your post on August's channel. Try running the pmm3 chain .043 with the rollomatic mini bar. they make them up to 16". The stock saw will smoke the mod saw and it's as easy as changing your bar and chain.

Looking at what you are cutting and what the saw is designed to cut, it is a top handle, and the voiding of the warranty.. I do not see much of an advantage. You may want to post the pros and cons of this mod. a little quicker, and no warranty..

Didn't see you alter the mixture when you did the muffler mod? On the Shredder Stihl he alters the mix. BUT he also makes a bigger muffler mod than you do,leaving the spark arrester standard .
