In this episode I install the MSD Model # 8733 2-Step module for LS engines. This is a Rev Limiter that will limit the RPM to whatever it is set for when the 2 step is active. I also wire it in to the brake light circuit along with a switch, so that it is only active when the brake is on and the switch is on. This kind of acts like a launch control, in that I can hold the brake at the starting line and limit the RPM and when I release the brake the engine can rev to full RPM's.

Hey quick question i plugged in mine i havent install the ground wire or the blue white wire but when i turned the truck it activates the msd 2 step i have same as you any ideas???

Does that sob only work like the power grid on the 6ald? I have the 6al digital and ITS rev limiter works freaking great. I also have rev limit verification ON.. BUT.. when I hit the line lock and it activates my 2 step (the 2 step with 2 dials on it) the LED on the w step activates and I have the blue wire going to the Grey MSD wite per the instructions. But NADA no rev limit ever... I thought maybe it's because of the verification.. but then I stumbled upon the power grid needs the 6al to be set at 1 and 1 for "special function" aka for the power grid.... I also have nitrous and was planning on a restart but I am not sure if it will even work either.

I hope this thread is still active but serious question. How did you splice the power wire from the MSD to the brake light wire and also wire it to the switch

So couldn’t you have just ran the white wire from your brake pedal to the switch, blue wire from MSD to the switch and a ground wire? Or does the blue wire from the MSD have to be spliced to the brake pedal wire and then ran to switch and also have the brake pedal wire to the switch?

What if i just want to use a switch just for stand still 2 step? I wont need the brake switch?

I wires to the same wire but it don’t release voltage fast enough for the truck to take off like it should.. when I take off the 2 step is still engaged

So basically from my understanding the blue wire goes to switch and then the other end on the switch goes to the white brake pedal wire?

I have had mine for 6 months and it has now started limiting my rpm while driving any ideas on how to fix it?

I’d check that trigger wire and see if there’s any issues with whatever you’re using to switch it, maybe it’s getting power all the time or grounding out all the time, either something is telling the unit to activate when it shouldn’t or the unit is defective

Nice videos - you explain stuff very well. Question does this over-rider the factory rev limiter , so say factor is set to 6.5k and you want the main rev limiter set to 7k cheers

The factory rev limiter will still be active, this is in addition to the factory one

MK Motorsports haven’t had to do any tuning, everything is done in the MSD box

Lost me on the wiring of power switch. Mine is in a 6 speed manual and hooked up to 2 POS switch ..on and off. I want it hooked to clutch with ability to turn on off?

Very nice. Stall converter be a good add,bloody expensive :( . How's the truck holding up so far ? My 2001 tahoe with 4.8 is battling low oil pressure when warm,replacing oil pump didn't help so thinking of opening it up and replace cam bearrings (suspect they are worn) and then prob right away swap a better cam,stall and turbo. Glad your back...

bert visser the truck is doing well so far but I suspect the 4L60E won’t last long if I turn up the boost. Debating whether to buy a converter for the 60e or do a trans upgrade.

I used to have a switch there on my 02. Its a pain to get the wires across the head liner and down the A pillar. Espically if you're gonna be putting more than 1 switch it may not work perfectly

Yes, some thanks much. But I still ain't right? Wanted run off clutch but couldn't get spliced into green/ blue wire off switch. So I went with a switch instead . Blue wire needs see ground??? Don't look iw but I hooked up to 3 POS switch and to get it to work I used White/blue wire. Works fine but still want to try get clutch activated right.. Thanks..M. BaconHeart

Pretty low because I still have the stock torque converter, I think around 1500 rpm

Im putting this in my stock 2010 SS are there any dangers i should be aware of? Can i damage anything from using high RPM settings? (4500+)

What's the difference between a torque converter and a 2 step

A high stall torque converter will require more engine rpm before the transmission engages and the vehicle begins to move. A 2 step is a rpm limiter that limits the rpm to whatever it is set for when activated. They typically work together, you would set the rev limiter on the 2 step to below the stall speed of the torque converter so the vehicle doesn’t move until the 2 step is deactivated. They are also often used in conjunction with a trans brake

@@LowbuckLS can I alternatively just balance the throttle with my pedal to not exeed my stall speed with my foot on the pedal and the other foot on the brake fully depressed and just dump the 2 step ?

@@hassanabas1549 yes that will work but if you are racing it is more consistent with a 2 step since you can just hold both the throttle and the brake fully depressed and not need to balance the throttle pedal below the stall speed of the converter.

No it’s made to install on a Chevy LS engine

Depends how many pins the subaru coil plug has you can always remove ls plugs and pin another plug
