your videos are very helpful man! helped me with my Wideband n I'm putting the same msd 6al2 digital in as right now. 1990 454SS 496 stroker afr heads roller cam paxton Novi 2000.

As much as I appreciate the video I have to disagree about the instructions, no where in that 16 page booklet does it tell you to lock out the distributor or how to do it, which is very frustrating as it is the first and most crucial step

Was this video able to help you with that problem? I haven't watched it in many moons.....and I assume I said the instructions were detailed? I apologize for that.

Hello, how are you? I ask you a question, the red led light turns on when the car is in contact or only when the engine is running, because I have the same ignition used and I wanted to test it but when I connect the positive and negative cables of the battery and ground, the red light does not turn on. thanks

Do you have the second red wire (key on) wire connected to power ? That will turn the box on.

how did this work out ? i already have mine ..havent installed yet. I have a turbo setup..going to lock out the distributor also.

Thanks man. Whats the advantage of using this vs vacuum advance? Im trying to map out my ignition parts im gonna purchase for my challenger. What would be the best distributor to run with this from MSD?

I use stock distributors. They are great units and do everything you need for cheap. I always remove vacuum advance but the MSD programmable is great bc you can tune timing throughout the engine rpm. Ive even heard of guys removing timing midtrack to keep from spinning tires on a track that may be slick or unpreped. Super cool unit.

Qiestion if im replacing my HEI distributor with an msd pro billet distributor and 6al-2 box do i have to take that module thing out of the msd distributor like you have to with the HEI thanks

I took mine out because I can program my timing. A 6al-2 doesn’t have that feature to my knowledge, so no.
