I was kinda looking forward to this, and you're the only one who can make this loud and clear and usually done in 10 minutes, thanks and make this more, pls!
Thanks Kip. The NXi is getting better and better, and you're doing a great job of covering the changes as the system is updated. I ALWAYS learn when I watch your videos. I appreciate your guidance. Happy Holidays!
WT keeps adding more features to the G1000 and it's fantastic. I love the VNAV functionality. Can't wait for the 3000 to get some of this in the future.
Thanks as always. I managed to get ILS on g1000nxi working now and was able to fly with just a keyboard only. But it was still a bit weird with some quirks. Enjoyed all the slicker vnav options. I found the MSFS overlays would not accurately reflect the modes enabled - I just had to focus on the PFD to know what was engaged and working and now GS/VPATH worked on ILS for me magically. Sometimes the AP was not responsive so I just kept toggling until it responded as anticipated (Eg it let the glide slope diverge and i could see the green dot move with no VS change - I would just toggle a few times and boom it decided to hit the glideslope. But it did work in the end finally so I feel less useless!!
From my experience flying airplanes with G1000, I first and foremost miss that the FLC is correct with respect to UP and DN. In reality it should by pressing UP, increase your attitude and hence airspeed decreases - and vise versa. I would like a function where you can move the range button, and the mouse on MFD, then press DCT and go direct to that point. Some other details I hope to see in the G1000 NXI forward: - RAIM and SBAS-functionality. - Backlight adjustments. - CWS controlling the airspeed in FLC-mode. - It would be nice to change the FOB, so the planning is correct. - Start-up screen with what kind of navigation-data which is available, and whether it's expired or not. - How traffic (Traffic Advisory) is displayed on the MFD/PDF Inset - not arrows like displayed, but diamond-shaped. And for those who want to delete a route, or DCT, it's done by going to DCT/FLP, then press menu and press delete. Anyways, the NXi is excellent and a very nice option to MSFS. Thank you for the great effort!
Is there a fix for the Altitude up/down key bindings to move in hundreds instead of thousands? I don't know if this is a problem with all planes using the g1000, or if it is plane specific. I'm using the Cessna 182. I don't recall, but that might be a conversion from FSX. Maybe that's the problem?
Fantastic overview once again. NXi is slowly getting to the point where I wont actually use most of the new features, but I am still glad they do such a good work with all the details. :) Although procedure previews will come handy for sure. Btw. have you guys experienced "broken" RNAV paths in the sim? I mean some of the RNAV approaches I tried had broken path on the NXi map, like missaligned or completely missing vectors from one waypoint to another. Or lets say the NXi showed a different path then ingame VFR map and such. I guess these are some bugged approaches, I am just not sure if that is a NXi bug or sim bug. I have been able to fix that by just skipping the problematic waypoins and fly directly to other ones, from which the fly path is correct, but it is frustrating. I can not recall the specific approach or the airport, but it happened multiple times. Just trying to find out if this is a common thing for you all.
Kip, was the Cessna 182T included in the updates of the NXI G1000. I use the Cessna 182T and the the things you talked about from update 9 till now does not work in the Cessna 182T with the G1000. Also how do you join your discord? Keeps saying need a verification email, but do not receive one.
Hey David, sorry for the super late response. To get the NXi to work on third-party planes (anything not included in the base simulator), make sure you install it from the MSFS Marketplace. The Discord link is: discord.com/invite/8hcJpsvsd9 Discord may require you to verify your email address if you've just made an account. If you can't find their email, try checking your "spam" folder.
There is a known issue they're looking into where not all transition waypoints are showing up in the list. I haven't run into it myself, but someone else commented recently that they did, and it turns out it is a bug and the Working Title team filed it in their system to work on. Hopefully we'll see a fix in the next release!
I installed this app and regular navigation procedures I used to do with the MSFS gps just simple don't work like changing from a vor to gps to to turning on AP and FD, ALT is just doesn't work like the one in msfs I know how to use the vanilla one but when I do the same with this app is all buggy, am I missing something here on the settings or the way is installed?
Still getting CTDs when using the MFD menu's even slightly quickly, it's frankly putting me off using it at the moment. Anyone come across any workarounds or fixes for this issue?
It's unfortunately a known issue and something that needs to be fixed on the MS/Asobo side. For now I just make sure to go slowly when changing Page Groups, otherwise yes, it can crash the sim if you rotate it too quickly between Page Groups :-(
I checked the WT Discord for some discussion about this, and it sounds like there was a change made where the reversal will be mandatory mattering the angle you are at to your final approach course. So in this case it will automatically add the reversal instead of giving you the option.
@kip I'm on v0.10.1 of the NXi. Have you experienced this issue with AP disengaging when resuming from pause? I know you are not on Xbox, but just wondering. Also, I have twice had both NXi displays go dark (off), but it appears the AP is still working. Nothing I did could get them to display anything once they went dark. I reported the first issue on the discord and provided a link to this video capture: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0F75P2u4zEE.html
Does anyone else use this version of the G1000 with the Saitek/Logitech Autopilot panel? The altitude adjustment is very painful after the previous update, it takes many rotations of the rotary encoder dial to adjust altitude but all other values seem to adjust fine. Does anyone else have this issue?
@@jacobmotum .. either way it’s doing the same for me on Spad next. The best way to describe it is that it’s very precise on the G1000 now - where no matter how fast you turn the knob it doesn’t jump ahead like it did before. I tried this on an aircraft without the G1000 and it was the same as before and is easier to get to higher figures. In the meantime I’m just using the click spots just slightly above the alt knob on the G1000 to jump in thousands.
