I loved this laptop when i had it but the battery broke down on it so i was able to use my warranty with Best Buy to get a full store credit refund. I still want a replacement that has the cherry mx keyboard and 300hz display refresh rate it has and all the features but it seems no laptops have all the same features and power at the same pricepoint these days
The screen I saw on the recent Dell Gaming Laptop was terrible, I was thinking of buying due to the low price but the screen made it not worth it and I didn't like the plastic build either
Came here to say, be wary of your use of the mini-led.... I also work on this computer, I left my work VOIP application up on my laptop monitor nearly all day while using two others monitors for other work... well I've done that for the majority of 3 months I've owned the laptop. This was usually with HDR on, usually around 90%-100% brightness, with everything dark mode. I just realized I have pretty severe burn in at the top of the screen, goes from left to right, a long dark bluish blotchy line... and its permanent, I can tell. SO, long story short, don't run at full brightness all day with static image up. I wish someone would have put that in my head early on. No the stupid flashy pattern videos didn't work. This is legit burn in. Luckily, its at the top, its less noticeable in dark mode or with a colorful wallpaper. Also, I have Accidental protection, and I will probably have to use it, just annoying to have to set up my old shitty laptop for work. Haha. This thing is BEAST! mine is max spec, and I also put my OS on two 2TB 990s in raid 0... 13GB/s read/writes... wowzer! Also, a new BIOS update came out last month that fixed the stutter in performance mode. Pretty sure it just nerfed the voltages or speed or smtn, but now you can just set perf mode and forget. I don't run CPU overclock, and sometimes run the GPU overclock for the 4090. Also don't do undervolt anymore... too finicky, and I got a decently fast 14900hx - with OC and perf mode, I get 33.5k in cinebench (but after 2 or 3 runs, that thing's hitting upper 90s easy...degrees Celsius). anywho, that's all I came to say... LEARN ABOUT LCD BURN IN - IT IS 100% REAL AND PERMENANT... granted I probably took this screen to the extreme, or some would say, "normal use" for a damn 5k dollar laptop.... ugh
*Make sure you tweak the settings on these laptops as they are not at 100% out of the box. MUX Switch and Ram(16gb) is the biggest problem other than that mines been blazing through anything I throw at it since release date.*

Perfect time to buy, waiting for mine to arrive. I went fully loaded and literally got way over $1500.00 off the price including Lenovo's extended warranty too. Toal less than 3200, not too bad and just the look of this laptop is sharp. I do graphics mostly, but some gaming. 🙂
@@kmdeepu9 directly from Lenovo. I continually asked if this was the best you can do. I also got a discount for an active RN licensure. Barter and they will make a deal. Love my Legion 9i.
@@grzo6917 Rock solid, fast, enjoying the keyboard and the track pad may be smaller and to the left but this is not a con for me. Benchmark scores are better than I expected. I have downloaded two BIOS updates from Lenovo so far and each installed without issue. No blue screen of death or lockups noted. Mine has the 64 GIG of Ram and a 2 TB SSD, does not show up as two separate 1 TB drives in RAIOD 0. I do hear the fans occasionally during CPU extensive tasks like intense games or viral scans, but they are short lived moments. The color show is vivid and a bit in your face, but I love the look. I opted to use the llano cooler and CPU temps ruin around 40 at low speed on the llano. I highly recommend purchasing this laptop. One other thing, the fingerprint reader works every time, and it works with windows hello just fine. Built in cam works great for work conferences. Yes, I use this for work meetings. Stickers on the laptop do not bother me at all. Especially love the lighted port guide on the back. Overall, this is the perfect laptop for me.
Absolutely the best laptop I purchased. Perfect in every way. Fans do not bother me and are not too loud except during viral scans or video work. I say go for it, you all will be satisfied
Honest review, I loved every minute of this. I decided to stick with the Legion 7i Gen 9. I dont think the 4090 os nessecarry. I also dont like the extra holes that can collect dust.
Dont consider L9 now, it has dozens of issues, use these topics in google search and you will fiind all the issues, even Notebookcheck has already 2 faulty L9s. Google it: "Lenovo-Legion-9-16IRX9-Legion-9i-review-How-high-end-is-the-RTX-4090-gamer" There are countless threads about the problems with the Legion 9i. Lenovo has been completely silent for months. People, including myself, have reported buying or replacing new Legion 9i dozens of times. The problems persist. Lenovo's departments cant decide who is responsible for those issues, and blaming each other back and forth. The skin is real forged carbon fiber, helps with reducing some of the weight as well as being stronger than aluminum. You mostly see forged carbon fiber on exotic supercars such as Lamborghini and Ferrari.
Like the Alienware laptops from years ago, if I have to disassemble the laptop and flip the motherboard to get to it, it’s considered soldiered because they don’t intend for me to swap it out.
That’s a tough question. lol. While I like to have my display match the laptop, Lenovo doesn’t have any “appetizing” monitors. In this case I’d probably go with one of the Alienware or LG QD OLED monitors. Expensive, but if I paid this much for a laptop, I want to make sure I get the best experience if I’m not using the main display.
In my opinion, I don’t think it’s enough unless you shut down most of the background processes. I’d upgrade to 32 for cheap or just get one built with it already installed.
Nice review, Shawn. Point of correction the ram is not soldered on the motherboard. The ram is on the other side of the motherboard, just below your keyboard. I have this exact model, but mine came with RTX 4090 + i9 14900hx and 64gb of ram. I maxed everything out because you have to go through the motherboard to upgrade the ram. I Don't feel comfortable doing that. Powerful beast this is.

The screen tech on gaming laptops is improving a lot. This with the mini led and the G14 with the oled and both with high refresh rates and hdr makes a huge difference.
LCD burn in is a real thing, do your research, easily preventable. Permanent once it happens. They should give you a fucking heads up before hand... They all say LCD/LED its not possible... well I got a screen that says otherwise, lol. Dont listen to them, the actual lcd experts know its possible all to well. Still, tho, what a beautiful screen... just can't leave a full HDR Brightness with a dark mode static image(or application in my case) on it for 6 hours a day for 3 months apparently! Pshh! :)
So I made mine do a flashing effect awhile back, and now when i go in it says that the only theme I have is just blue. I click that and click save and close the application and my PC starts flashing again. I know for a fact I've never had to run the app in the background to have it to the color i want it. What am i supposed to do?
I just bought one in 2024 lol, I thought it was time to upgrade from my 2019 Razer Blade 2060 so that I can have a laptop that can run all these modern games on the go
