“Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt appeared on Velshi & Ruhle and things got heated with co-host Ali Velshi over what some might call Trump administration’s situational policies with various countries in the Middle East.
Hewitt was on to discuss his Washington Post column that defended the Trump administration’s approach to Iran in contrast to the Obama administration’s appeasement (which he presented as a failed approach). The piece included some hearty sucking up to national security adviser John Bolton, “whose clarity and intelligence have long cowed his opponents inside the Beltway,” Hewitt wrote.
Velshi opened the segment by mocking that particular phrase and calling Bolton a war hawk. But Hewitt did not demur, and instead doubled down on calling Iran “a theocracy run by a dictator,” that is “providing missiles to Hezbollah” among other actions that support his “rogue nation” assessment.”

Four tankers were "blown up"? Did I miss a news story? All I know about is one tanker with a puncture in the stern and three others with flooded engine compartments. This whole ship attack thing reeks of utter BS. One ship has a puncture on the stern and the other three have not released pictures/video of any damage that I know of. Who rams a ship that large? Shouldn't there be some debris from the attacker left inside the tanker? The other three had water in the engine compartments. Sooooo, a leaky hull equals an attack by Iran?? Even if I give them the possibility that someone snuck on board, ninja style, and sabotaged a pipe (or whatever) in some way that flooded the engine compartment, how does that in any way indicate that it was Iran? The mere fact that Hewitt so grossly overstated what the attack was tells me this whole story is propaganda to manufacture consent for war with Iran.

Look into the false flag attack on the USS Liberty in 1967, perpertrated by Israel to drag America into a war in the Middle East, 36 US sailors killed and another 171 injured and it was all covered up by John McCain's admiral father to protect the Israeli aggressors, there is a very informative doco on RU-vid with the survivors relating the attack and subsequent cover up, it's a real eye opener.

I sometimes think it's because, like Trump, the USA needs a facade. They are bankrupt, but no one dare say it. The problem that the Hewitts and others of his ilk has is American hubris. It comes from having that bloated supersized military that makes them oh so certain they can win any war they get into. What they don't realize is that despite its size and possible technological advantages it is no guarantee of victory. Otherwise the US would have won the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Afghan War and countless other engagements over time that at best could be described as a draw. Korea ended up in two, never mind Vietnam, and there is no winning to be done in Afghanistan. Some times the nature of the enemies, the terrain, and what exactly one is fighting makes the US army look like it's trying to swat flies with a hammer. The hammer is big and powerful, can do an awful lot of damage, and very effective when used on the right targets, but not to kill flies. They get out of the way before the hammer lands, so all you end up doing is damage. So swing and miss, swing and miss...but sure the mightiest hammer there is.
