A spectacular day on the mountain for my second summit up Barney. Up via SE Ridge and back via South Ridge. Features the more difficult and technical aspects of the mountain including the rock slab. Great company with Peter, Nathan, and Sam. We left at 6:20am and total time was 8hrs 25mins, 14.85kms according to the Garmin and total ascent 1305m. Ascent to summit 1092m.

Seems some cliff edge there at times.

There are a few spots where you are on the edge of a cliff. It's not as difficult as logans ridge though, that's way harder but I find more enjoyable. SE Ridge is great too.

The elevation gain on all Trails is based from carpark to summit, but the elevation total at the end of you hike is the total gain including the up and down from the many false summits hence its roughly 1300m.

yep - I realised after the Garmin includes the elevation gain on the way down
