This video showed me once again how important it is to fully understand the math vocabulary. I hope that I am able to keep it all straight on the test!
I agree with Rachel D. that showing us why the other answers didn't work helped us understand the problem. Understanding the vocabulary is so important!
I really like how you broke this problem down and found all the prime numbers first using the different shapes. This is very helpful and I will definitely use this
Watching these GOH videos has really helped me because I understood how to set the equation up and how many different equations I had to test out before I could find the answer.
Your strategy using the shapes was very helpful and also plugging in the numbers in the answer. Much easier to figure out the correct answer when you do that.
I like how you showed the prime factorization of 150, which enabled us to know how many distinct primes there are. Than using this information to solve what P and N could be than plugging it in. Very helpful!
I liked how you went back into the answers and plugged in the prime and natural numbers for p and n. I wouldn't have thought to do that but it made each answer a lot easier to interpret!
I found it really helpful to substitute in the numbers for both P and N in the answer choices because it leaves less room for confusion and careless mistakes and makes the problem easier to solve.
Hi Chris, I learned that it is best to complete the prime factorization for the product (i.e. 150), note the distinct prime numbers, and natural numbers associated with each. Once these numbers are found, evaluate them against the answer choices to come up with your selection. This problem truly tests your knowledge of math vocabulary terms such as factor and prime number. Thanks!
The problem solving strategies are very helpful. I also appreciate the focus on explaining why various choices are not correct such as the language in choice c.
The language in this problem was very important to focus on. Breaking down the P and the N and then replacing them in the solution helped me to visualize the answer.
I understand now to make diagrams to help solve these problems and to find out all the different solutions. It is also very helpful to plug in the solutions for both the natural numbers and the primes into the answers to figure them out.
I like how you use boxes etc to help visualize where numbers go and can be used. It makes it easier for me to understand the representations in the problem. Again knowing the vocab is helpful too
Replacing variables with numbers, using prime factorization and showing prime numbers to figure out what the options are all helped me in solving this problem.
I love the reminders to read and re-read the problem. That's a big problem for me I jump in and start solving before I understand what I am being asked to do.
I always forget to use the factor tree. It makes it so much easier when you use it so I need to remember it during the test. You do a great job of breaking things down and showing the easiest way to do all of the problems. Thanks!
This is a great problem that challenges understanding vocabulary. Once I plugged in the prime and natural numbers, it was much clearer. I liked how you double checked to make sure that all factors for 150 were included, I had not thought of that. Thank you.
Very helpful explanation. I liked how you wrote out the circles to represent prime numbers and triangles to represent natural numbers, this helped me to distinguish between the two types of numbers when I solved the problem.
I liked how you demonstrated how simple this problem really is by doing the prime factorization and then plugging in the options. Sometimes these problems with letters just throw me off before I even try to take a hack at it.
Plugging in numbers for p and n helped me with this problem. Another great problem to review information learned from the previous videos on prime factorization.
When I tried this problem myself before watching the video, I only used 3 x 50 and 5 x 30. I couldn't figure out which answer to pick between A & B. After watching the video, I now understand that it's important to find all the distinct prime numbers and then plug them all in to find the answer.
Good connection Stephanie! Keep am math journal so you can take notes on each new math concept/vocabulary. This will help you learn the material faster. See you soon. Chris Abraham
I really liked how the problem was broken into a chart so that you could fill in the missing numbers. I also liked how you replaced the "p" and the "n" in the answers with the information to better help eliminate answers.
I really like how you broke this problem. It really helped me to understand it. Also how you went through the other answers that were wrong I can really see how it can be tricky with that one word factor and if it was the word multiple than it would have worked.
I also liked how you showed us the prime factorization of 150 which was helpful in determining the number of distinct prime numbers. Thinking about a problem like this in a way like you explained makes it seem more approachable for me.
Before you explained it I tried to answer it on my own, and was totally lost. I forgot to find the prime factorization of 150 in the beginning...that was a very important step!
