Without Sigvald in his creature types, isn't the "Protection from non-Sigvald creatures" ability dysfunctional? It should mean Sigvald creatures can still damage him, but when it checks the creature's types for a Sigvald keyword, it finds none, because it only exists in the name of the card. Does it also check the card name and, if so, does it ignore the extra text?

Yeah, I assume his type is actually Sigvald in this case, just some quick updates to the types where text wouldn’t fit.

This is true and has been fixed ahead of my own video going over these - but the much more concerning creature type error is Alareilles. As a Forest, you could just activate a wooded foothills and, um...

I haven't played magic since 1997, and have never played Commander, and I thoroughly enjoyed this episode despite not really knowing what most of what was going on. HeyWoah is an excellent guest and needs to be invited more often!

Aside from creature types and a few commanders having too many colors in their identity (Sigvald shouldn't have blue in his identity imo) these commanders are all really cool with one exception. I can see what Heywoah was trying to do with Volturnos but if there's one mechanic in MTG that represents IDK's Tides of Death it is Sagas! As for Volturnos himself I would make an evasive creature with an ability that milled or exiled the opponent's library when upon hitting said opponent. When creature cards are milled/exiled this way Volturnos would make Thrall tokens, this is much more of how UB does combat and represents IDK's soul raids. Great show lets hope that Wizards/GW makes an AOS set sometime soon.

I mostly dropped magic for AoS and havent looked back. Also Vince dropping the spiciest take on the Summer King, yeah he's doing nothing but man that sculpt is so pretty IMO.

OMG i hope this actually comes out. Just recently got into Commander Magic with just the pre constructed decks and really enjoying its simplicity and randomness. the 40k ones are super cool but ive always prefered AOS :O

Overall, loved the show. Some really great ideas in there. Some thoughts: Isn't Alarielle just a bit too strong with fetch lands and other effects that just search for forests and put them on the battlefield (e.g., three visits, nature's lore, karametra, god of harvests, Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, etc.)? She would have to be part of the 99 then, but searching up a 6/6 flying, lifelink, regenerator instead of a dryad arbor seems crazy (esp turn 1 with something like misty rainforest). I guess these are for commander so it is multiplayer, but still. Also could lead to very repetitive play patterns as your deck would likely feature many of the forest fetches so she would hit the table most games. For Ushoran, lifelink does not stack as of ~2010 I believe. If you want double would need to have the keyword and then spell out the effect so it is a trigger (e.g., armadillo cloak on a lifelink creature).

The Daughters reveal was good, but i have to counter with both Sigvald and Hedonites+Keeper trailers for the best spot. That weird voice of Keeper of Secrets for Hedonites trailer is pure magic and temptation

Yeah I will try these!! Been playing magic since Beta 1991. I will say that the Ogre is way too expensive for commander with low toughness. Maybe it needs a defensive keyword like Ward x.

Gotta agree with Vince, the Tombking Dragon is derpy as hell. Reminds me of a weirdly cobbled together animal body made to trick a peasant audience. I see that including crocodilians makes sense for an Egyptian themed army, but this wasn't a good way to do it!

I think the reason that Age of Sigmar wasn't widely covered was because GW still may've had something with the makers of AoS Champions, but the game may've shutdown sometime before

Some of the Old World design seems complex for the sake of complexity… though it’s hard to tell from leaks. Like the pretentious names of things like “conveyance” spells

Vince, how can you say Ushoran has a disappointing pose while still liking the Keeper of Secrets. A blindingly fast, savage daemon in the lore and we got a dude just strolling along upright.

Because she is open. That’s a huge part of it. It’s not just action, it’s what is visible at angles. She’s regally striding forward, all the important areas of the model are visible from multiple angles. He’s super hunched and has a lot of bad viewing angles that are just fur and not much else. His entire chest, waist and legs are literally hidden in shadow. The openness of a pose means a lot to reading the figure and its overall paint ability.

24:32 have to agree with Vince, GW seem to be doing a lot more static poses these days, less movement / combat poses, and more stable, static “scenic” poses. They seem to have lost a certain raw edge to the designs in recent releases.

HW's character point is great - I have no interest in Old World but I would buy the hell out of new TWW Legendary Lord sculpts just to have, and I'm sad that isn't an option

*edit* I forgot! - You don't think the rumour engine was a varghulf hand do you? That's what I'd thought it was at first. I actually like the old rat ogres lol Yes we definitely need more don't get me wrong, but I do like the models - and yes IoB are better but I guess I just like nostalgia (the gaps are indeed absolutely terrible). I am really really hoping that is actually a new Rat Ogre omg SKAVEN YES!!! I do like the Summer King too, more than I thought I would. I'm actually a bit tired of dynamic poses - an alternative ripping someone open would be great yes - but for on the table, I like him. He exudes a sense of waiting and power imo - not every 'static' model needs to be considered boring imo.

As an MTG hater and Sylvaneth enjoyer, I actually like Alarielle. As a fun ruiner, I REALLY like Kairos. I wouldn't even care about winning, just messing up everyone else's plan is fantastic.

I don’t think it’s that alone, I think, as I said, there is a portion of the market that wants that complex environment and rule set, the stronger appeal to realism through minutiae, I thin there is a portion of the market for which this is valuable
