I have been cutting and feeling really depressed and suicidal and listening to a bunch of pro-suicidal songs, like slit my wrist and last resort and suicide solution, things like that... But then i saw this song in the suggestion box and clicked on it and it really made me start thinking about stuff more clearly God works in cool ways huh :)
It is kind of stupid arguing religion on a christian song. I'm an atheist but i realize it makes little sense going to random christian youtube videos simply to cause a commotion. I just like this song, back in my christian days i listened to a lot of Flyleaf, it's one of the few things that crossed over into my current life. Plus the bass part is super fun to play!
I like how this song is so straight forward, as opposed to using a lot of metaphors and hidden meanings like they do in their other songs (not that I have a problem with that, I just like how this song is different)
Exactly! I have that same relationship, my best friend is an Atheist and I'm Roman Catholic and we get along just fine. It doesn't change how much I love her like a sister. Sometimes I'm frightened and sometimes she worries about me. Just different views but that doesn't mean we can't have other things in common. It isn't like she's an alien or something, she's still human
I was trying to lose my voice so I was sing a lot of my favorite songs, by the time I got to this song my voice was shaky and scratchy but when I sang "there's still so much to know"I swear my voice was crystal clear
Last year, my best friend was an Atheist, lol, and I've been a Christian for a long time. Now, she's a bigger believer than I am. Talking about going to school to be a pastor in the fall! I think everyone has their doubtful moments, I think that's part of believing in something.
I agree! There's absolutely No "cure" for depression; and it's not tangable. So strangers and/or close one's think it's no big deal. But their not inside; they don't feel the dread of pain and just feeling uncomfortable. So the only thing we know is to end it. It's So Sad! Even worst that "mental health" is still So misunderstood.
I felt a lot like this once. But I found God's love too. This song is so inspiring because it shows that the love of God really can change your heart in a good way. He's always there for you and never forget it. :)
In July I was up for over a month, seriously, and was so sick I coukdnt walk, . I didn't believe in ANYTHING.. I had a not near death but DEATH experience, my hands were to my sides, they came together, tip of each finger, forming what were prayer hands, I was in Heaven, HUGE white gate, enormous orchestra and above it were thousands of angels, I was face to face with Jesus, we said the "our father" together, his voice was like the most beautiful music, I never wanted him to stop talking, if your body could smile, it felt like elation, I've never felt peace before, tears streamed down my cheeks.. I was then told by the angels "in the garden" my mother died last year and I was trying to get to her, her passion was gardening... I was then put jnfront of HUGE red letters the size of buildings that said REBORN... I asked Jesus why didn't I get to see her in the garden?? It felt like an eternity standing there asking Why?? Then claw like hands pulled me down, I was burning alive, the screaming was unreal, the thunder burst my eardrums, I called it purgatory... if my sister hadnt found me in full seizures mode from the THUMP when I hit the floor and found me i would still be in Hell now... I was brought back at the hospital... life as I knew it is over... all i ask is believe, if I did, with my whole heart I would be with my mom, in the garden... I was like so many out there, believed in nothing.. BELIEVE with your heart, that's all it takes....
Because wherever there is a difference, there is tension. Unfortunately thats how people just seem to work. Really they should just enjoy the good music
its unreal how much this song relates to me. I know a lot of people say that about songs but this song is..wow...I was so shocked about it that I watched this video about 10 times before crying.
I'm a christian and my best friend is an athiest.. I respect her decision. I worry about her, but I don't try to change her, because she doesn't try to change me

I hate it when Christians point the finger and say that atheists are sinners and will go to hell. We don't follow your rules, so it isn't a sin. We don't believe in God, we're not going to go to hell. You have no right to to judge how others live their lives. Also I'm agnostic and flyleaf is my favourite band EVER. Shushy your mushies.
Dude, seriously? Try and see it through their eyes. They are in SO much pain that they are willing to take their life and it so that they can be happy. Life, may I remind you is the only thing that we are completely sure exists (not saying there isn't an afterlife) and is something you can never return to after you leave it. (unless your heart stops and somehow someone restarts it or something of that nature)
The thing that people just dont get is that sooo many people spend sooo much time on what they think God and the church wants them to do, that they hurt other people in the process. They damn or bless people based on WHAT A BOOK TELLS THEM. Its fine for someone to live THEIR life like that, but when it spills over to other people is where i got a problem.....I'm not even sure why i'm still talking about this. I was just listening to good music and got caught up by stupidity...
I finally realize the meaning behind the lyrics. "I was truly thinking of how I might quit waking up" Meaning thinking that you may die in your sleep one day/you're going to die one day and how painful of a thought it is. "Feels so much like falling Dying while I wait to die" You're basically slowly getting weaker until you pass. "The fear of something or nothing, only empty lie" Talks about the fear of not knowing what the other side will truly be. Whether it's nothing or heaven/hell. "Aware of our destination, far away from here" We're aware that one day we pass but it won't come for a long time.
Actually it's the opposite. Lacey probably wrote this song but I'm not positive. She was not afraid to die because wanted to so then she was going to kill herself. But God saved her from doing it and she turned her life around 180 degrees.
That's total opposite of what I got from this. She literally says "he says how selfish it would be to kill myself " whe she says "quit waking up" its because she done with life. When she shes slowly dying while waiting to die....shes dying inside while waiting for her time to die

"He pointed out how selfish it would be to kill myself" Thats what my best freind said after i attempted and now this song means so much to me. He moved on but at least i know someone cared once. and its not selfish anymore.
Religion isn't about following a bunch of rules its about having a relationship with God. And you're right, Christians have no right to be judging you, that's God's job. Nobody should be pointing their fingers at you and calling you a sinner, that's wrong and it has clouded your views on other christians. Just because people believe in God doesn't make them better than anyone.
@NovemberCanSmile But we can help them. We can be a friend to them, come alongside them, and help them work through their pain and find the strength to go on. To keep living. To perhaps do great things with their life and touch the lives of others in turn. They can't do that if they're dead. Yes, it hurts. /Life/ hurts. That's how we grow. I've gone through tough times - and I'm going through one now, in fact. But suicide is not the answer. It is /an/ answer, but not a good one.

god can not live youre life for you, and it is how u live youre own life tht determines if u will live forever after you pass on to the next one... and the reason why killing your self is not bs is because you are killing somthing tht does not belong too you...your body is a temple of god..which belongs to god.. you only own your soul...and by taking somthing tht does not belong to you..does not get you eternal life after this one.

@tashaandmeg u are wanted u just dont feel it believe me i usedf to feel the same way until i woke up for the nightmare i was going through..remember nightmares arent forever..u can wake up whenever u want to...=)
When my best friend found out about my suicide attempts he told me I was selfish and that his life would be hell without me an he would kill himself that made me stop I hope ppl realize there are reasons to live and ppl do care about you I know I do

@xJohnnyWorsnopx you do know that Lacey was stopped from commiting suicide right ? And it's a bit harsh to say you're a coward, people are so much in pain sometimes that they just want it to end, is that really not understandable ?
@TheMusicisinthesoul Your experience didn't seem to give you any sympathy for those in similar - or sometimes much worse - situations to yourself. If you think someone is selfish and cowardice to commit suicide then you must first ask yourself, "How bad could their life me?" I need not have to tell you many people are abused, sexually assulted, attacked, bullied, teased, etc. Sure these reasons aren't valid enough to end your life, but it's not fair to call them selfish.
@jiggiemonkie I am not going to Hell just because I dont agree with what the church says about Jesus and God. I dont even believe that "God" can be defined by humans. I think what i want, i worship who i want, I love who i want and judge people based on what I believe is right and wrong, not by what christians say God thinks. And if you or anyone else damns my soul for that, then so be it. Trust me, its worth it.
