Some times we visit mister Coopman in Belgium. He is still alive, and a friend of us. Dont forget that he stardet boxing at the age of 24 years this Coopman guy. So we are proud to him. Greetz from Hoolland...and Belgium. 24th Sept. 2023 at 20.12 our.
Hello to Belgium. One question: How is Mr. Coopman? Did he suffer from any injuries or brain damage, parkinson, slurred speech like Muhammad Ali? Muhammad Ali hit him such a lot punches to his head that I am anxious if Cooopman is all well with speech, health etc. If he is well and don´t suffer of Parkinson than boxing cannot be the cause that Muhammad suffered from Parkinson. Thanks for an accurate answer.
I think mohamed Ali is the best sportsman ever in the universe and the globe will never create such a man. He is not only a boxer, he is a philosopher and a role model to all generations. His history must be taught in schools to know how heros are created
Good sportsman be like: JOES GONNA COME OUT SMOKIN AN I AINT GONNA BE JOKIN IL BE PEKIN AND A POKIN POURING WATER ON YOUR SOMOKIN THIS MAY SHOCK AND AMAZYA BUT I WILL DESTROY JOE FRAZIER!
What I admired about Ali is when he had an under matched opponent, he would give them an opportunity to show what they could do. He knew he could knock them out at any time.
Ali allowed Coopman to hang around for 4 rounds. He did that so Coopman could say he went 4 rounds with him. That was Ali's greatness... He would make much weaker opponents hang around for awhile and get a few shots in. Ali was such a great man. God bless him for being the greatest and not allowing anyone to manipulate or lead him in a direction he didn't want to go. R.I.P., to one of the greatest men that ever lived on Earth...
Yes Muhammad Ali knew coopman was not a match for him, so he took it easy on him, and coopman couldn't even speak English, the way Ali went over to him to see if he was OK, really touched my heart. Muhammad Ali was so sweet..
Ali could hurt you with his left or right while he was backing up faster than most boxers could move forward. His right was unbelievable. Most fighters couldn’t even see his right coming until they heard and felt it🎃
He sure was.there was a Muhammad Ali cartoon out in 1977 I think it was.only 1 series made.i was an obsessed 5yr old back then.he was my childhood hero.theyll never ever be another 1 like him ever.goat.🥊
Even though this was post Manila and Coopman was a zero, Ali still had some of the hand speed and snap in his punches that made him an all time great. Three months later, he would KO Richard Dunn for his last KO. After that fight...Norton III where he was exposed as an ageing champion fighting with smoke and mirrors relying on his mythic status to win unimpressive decisions leading to the dreadful farce against Holmes. But here, he still looks like The Greatest.
Walikum Assalam brother Muhammad 🖐🏼may Allah swt grant you His mercy and rewards you with Jannah en shaa Allah and hopefully we would meet there one day en shaa Allah. Definitely you are the greatest of all times in boxing, a true hero and human being especially the way you fought this fight and the humbleness you showed towards your opponent. ❤️
When you are fighting Ali, not understanding English is probably an asset! You have to feel sorry for Coopman - I hope he got a decent payday for taking such a beating.
I argue Norton 3 should've been his last fight since Ali probably wanted to set the score straight Still a record of 50-2 (or 53-2 if he retired after Norton 3) is amazing by most boxing standards even today
@@sherlanjuandaputra1168 exactly, people act like once that 0 goes it means the boxer sucks, you gotta eye test and look at resumes and also what age they were fighting at and what fights they should've won or lost
Ali’s last fight should of been after recapturing the belt from Forman. Let’s be honest now. He would always have had Parkinson disease but maybe he wouldn’t have been as bad as he was shortly after retiring for good after the Trevor Berbick fight.
According to a popular Belgian newspaper, Coopman actually thaught, before the fight, that he made a chance winning .... 30 seconds into round 1, he realized : "Hell ! I will be (very) lucky if I just survive ... !
Muhammad was an outstanding boxer. The greatest of all time! But he was an AMAZING human being! He actually cared about the well being of others and treated every opponent with respect and honor, even if they were nowhere near as talented as him!
Joe Louis fought guys who were stiffs and it became known as the Bum of the Month Club. This guy Coopman was such a bum Louis never would have considered fighting him. Ali was over the hill and should have retired but he had one more trick up his sleeve-lose to a stiff named Spinks and best him in a rematch for some additional pay days.
Have you ever seen a fighter with his hands down land punches when they are always walking backwards? Ali was doing it in the first two rounds. He had the height, reach and even weight advantage but adding in his skills like speed, it was no contest. The Flemish fighter did receive $100,00 for just being there. A good chunk of money back in the day.
If All got himself into the shape he was in for the second Spinks fight when he reclaimed the title he beats Holmes even at that point. Against a young Ali, Holmes has no chance. Remember Holmes was not a hard puncher and Ali had one of the best chins of all time. Lastly Ali was a better athlete than Holmes and Larry would gotten exposed very easily.
@@gregoryphillips3969Ali had been retired almost three years when he decided to fight Holmes, I said to myself if Ali comes out of retirement and beat Holmes that boxing wouldn't be interesting no more, had me thinking if anybody in boxing could it would be Ali, smdh.
He was ,i think, one of the best in Europe, but european boxing was very inferior to what (North)America had... Chuvalo,Quarry would have "clean" this guy any way to.
Nah Ali was definitely Carrying him. Coopman was a good boxer, good man & very respectful. But his skills alone were no match for Ali. Ali hit him at will whenever he wanted to. Coopman took some punches but I also think Ali wasn’t throwing hard enough shots and he pulled that move on Patterson in 65’. Coopman was also the perfect easy opponent after the Brutal vicious war with Joe Frazier. You can even tell he still had some of that power 💥 from Manila
@@wayneonutube Fans wanted to see an Ali fight after Manila. His body took a lot of damage in that fight, so understand Ali’s body wasn’t all the way healed yet. But❗️ Coopman was the next man and coming off after what Ali did to Frazier, I’m sure Coopman had to know he was going into a Blizzard 🌨 🥶
Es que ali boxeaba y deja boxear al oponente y el tenia como acabarlo en cualquier momento daba la impresion que no quisiera lastimar al oponente y pareciera que se preocupara mas en darle espectaculo al publico
I agree with you. Perfect timing health wise to quit after this fight. Ali was still looking good in this fight just coming off a deadly war with Joe Frazier in Manila. But like Don King once said about Ali “How do you tell GOD he can’t make the world Thunder like he used to”
Ali could've knocked this guy out in the first round but Ali didn't hate the guy or anything so he just carried him to put on a show for the crowd. Ali did this alot. Ali literally knocked him out by accident. Wasn't even trying.
A Payday. Great for fans,to see him . A free TV fight. A fun night. Good $ for coopman, plus I'm sure he made cash afterwards in personal efforts.. a great night
Listening to Ali's voice, you can hear the onset of the slurred speech...My opinion he should've retired after the Foreman fight! But ohhh how We loved to watch him though...While beating Frazier on decision obviously Frazier's face was bad, real bad...But all that head trauma did do damage against Ali! The Greatest! So sad though that the reasons why and they're numerous that Ali was the greatest and why We loved him so was his curse in the end... With the rapacious Don King, all the yes men that he chose to surround himself with its a real shame he continued to fight... Truly ironic, Ali came in at a time when boxing was its most corrupt and shook the world, he then transcends the sport...ONLY TO HAVE THAT CORRUPT GAME BE HIS DOWNFALL! I point to the example of "Sugar ray Seales" a fighter who essentially was legally blind was given a boxing license to fight Aaron Pryor... Ya what I am saying is atleast after the Spinks fight, as Great as Ali was and as much of a money ticket he was BOXING SHOULD'VE SAID "NO LICENSE CHAMP, WELCOME TO THE HALL OF FAME!"
So curious about this fight. Before the fight starts he looks almost embarrassed that he's even fighting this guy and throughout the fight he's obviously so far past him. How did this fight even get set up?
@@exclamationpointman3852 Yeah whell he was a stonecutter who took up boxing only 5 years prior to this fight and at that time boxing wasn't much in Europe..so in no way he ever got properly trained..try to imagine being in the ring with the Greatest
This bum had no business being in the same ring as Muhammad Ali!!! Ali could have destroyed him in the first round if he wanted to, but took it easy on him.
Very unworthy opponent. But then again Larry Holmes defended his title against guys like this a minimum 12 times. Ali just had the Thrilla in Manila four months earlier so no need to criticize him for this fight
