Today, as part of our series examining the multiplayer racing scene in 2023, we take a look at Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC). Since its full release in 2019, ACC has provided all the GT3 thrills a racing game connoisseur could possibly require; thanks to its realistic physics, sounds and graphics.
Offline, the game replicates national and international series under the SRO Motorsport Group's GT World Challenge (GTWC) umbrella; including the British GT Championship, GTWC Europe and the global Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC).
The game, from Italian developer Kunos Simulazioni, features all the teams, drivers and rules of the real championships. It also has a burgeoning esports scene, the pinnacle of which is run by the official SRO Esports organisation.
ACC also has competitive ranked online multiplayer in the form of its Competition Server, where players can drop in for a quick race, with grids based on driver ability and experience. Today, John will talk us through the ins and outs of battling wheel-to-wheel online in ACC. The venue? The fearsomely high-speed, wall-lined ribbon of asphalt of the Mount Panorama track, in Bathurst, Australia.
