The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor has achieved a significant milestone with the commencement of the construction of the first Reinforced Concrete (RC) track bed, closely following the technology standards of the Japanese Shinkansen. This marks the maiden use of the J-slab ballastless track system in India.
The innovative track system comprises pre-cast track slabs that serve as a foundation for fastening devices and rails. These slabs are supported by the RC track bed, which boasts a thickness of approximately 300mm and is built in-situ on the viaduct top. The width of the RC track bed measures 2420 mm.
