MLB is a completely different level. We won’t know until he gets here. And by then he will be 26 years old and possibly too old to adjust. Ohtani was smart, he said no thanks to waiting until age 26 and gave up 150 million to come at age 23 for just 4 million . Which is still young enough to adjust to the learning curve . Now he will get 450-500 million next year. Smart man. Imagine how good Ichiro would’ve been if he came to the MLB at age 23. He would be considered top 5 all time .

@@johndurrer7869 it's not there choice it's the teams management decisions contract's are locked unless bought out by a mlb team which is what happened to ohtani.

Does awkward version of Harper leg kick but if he can guard vs bunt at third,, not worst profile.

This is so sad to watch such a potentially great talent be wasted in Japan until he is 26 years old. If the rules don’t change soon then the top athletes coming out of high school in Japan should seriously start consider going straight to the MLB

He would be buried in the minors of MLB if he signed with MLB. And the team might play with his arbitration and keep him in the minor leagues longer, and then sign him to a team friendly deal if he comes up and hits well. He is doing fantastic in Japan but there is no guarantee he will be a success in MLB. NPB provides him with a proving ground for a few years and with a good pay for his young age. Once he is fully matured (26-27) and in his peak. He can get contracts over $150-200M from MLB. NPB is much better environment for a young player to develop. Especially for a youngster who doesn’t speak much English and never left his country before. Culture shock is huge for young players. Very easy for Americans to say, hey, come to US at age 16 and be fine. NPB and Japan have their own baseball heritage and tradition, and very old school. Some of these players want to be all time greats in their home country first. Like breaking HR records.

@@nickfury8973 no he would not. Not a phenom like this. There have been 19 year olds that have made the MLB. Look at Trout, Harper, King Felix, Kershaw. Etc. That is a Japanese myth. At least in terms of phenoms
@johndurrer7869
@johndurrer7869 Год назад
@@nickfury8973 And at least for Roki it would be nearly impossible for him to fail at the MLB with his current stuff. He would already be a top 20 pitcher. Saddest part is there is a good chance that velocity will no longer be there by age 26-28. That is when velocity starts to fall off. Look at Syndergaard, Buehler, Strasburg etc. We will probably never see prime Roki on the worlds biggest stage
@JPuReTaLeNt
@JPuReTaLeNt Год назад
@@johndurrer7869 you do have your rarities in the league whose velocities have gone up with age or stayed the same. Degrom, Morton, Scherzer, and Verlander to name a few
