Great follow through on discovery with all the twists and turns to get to the final story...yes the past can haunt you into poor decisions in the future.
Fred Gwynne already had cancer in this movie. He looked really bad with dark circles around his eyes and preaged skin. He died three years later at age 66 of pancreatic cancer due to his smoking addiction.
I like Crenna, but he always sounds like a cartoon character to me for some reason. His delivery is often "silly" with its abrupt little hesitations and sudden, repeated deep breaths and his voice can go quite high when it doesn't go all "Daffy Duck." He's often robotic and I think those "extras" are meant to add realism to a generally poor performance. I thought he was perfect for the role in "Body Heat," however, as all he had to do was act rich, snobby and frequently away on business.
