is the FLow Hood youre running a Fan & Filter unit from Myers or did you just get the hepa for your own Flow Hood box/fan?

Is it possible to achieve positive pressure by using only one flow hood or are two needed to achieve the effect? Can you share with us the name of the paint manufacturer and epoxy seal coat you used please? Thanks for the info and looking forward to more videos on your progress!

It’s a sherwin Williams paint and you don’t have to have 2 flow hoods. You can run a can hepa filter to supply fresh air from outside to the lab or you can just scrub it with another fan and filter in the same room.

What Jason said. It's Sherwin Williams pre catalyzed epoxy. Yes you can use one hepa. You just need to pull air from outside of the room and recirculate with the same fan, i.e. use a "T."

I dig your ethic and discipline, but I also disagree with you on many aspects of how you view things as well as the process. Cultures are important, but the way you talk about it literally scares people away and has them second guessing themselves. You can put a culture to grain immediately. Not everyone is growing mushrooms in a commercial setting or for a living/business. And a lot of individuals need their own experience to even understand what you’re talking about. I myself have learned over time what I like , how I want it, and how to get it. So I stick with my methods. But overall appreciate your time and knowledge buddy! Keep the videos coming. I love seeing others views and opinions on things. Maybe you got something I missed and vice versa. This craft always has something new to learn. Never think you know it all.

Lol you definitely can put lc straight grain, he's just trying to save you the headache and $...not sure your setup or sourcing, but if your spending $25 on a 5 pound bag of grain and you inoculate 4 bags of your grains with contaminated lc you just lost $100 and a couple weeks of time...trust me I been there, I could have avoided it by testing my lc on a $3 petri dish. This is especially important if you sourcing lc from new suppliers.

Is that a "through the window" AC unit IN your clean room? Yikes. You really should consider a couple bacteriacinerators rather than an alcohol burner. The rest looks ok to me. Wishing you luck.

Yep, a window unit. If you noticed the window unit, you probably also noticed the entire thing spray foamed in the window....... flames kill microbes view heat, how does the bacteriacinerator function?

Bacteriacinerator are these things you put your scalpel in, tbh depends on time, $, you’d think someone of your scale would have one; but it makes me feel good because it’s not something that’s going to make or break a mycologist but I’ve heard it helps work flow. Great idea on the ac fan

@@earthangelmushrooms2118 Just FYI, window units do NOT have good internal seals; you are very likely getting some contamination through this unit and through the window seals/frame. I would completely close off that window by caulking a single sheet of acrylic over the molding, and switch your AC to a mini-split type (which holds more consistent temps anyways).

You should also put an outlet cover over that outlet or remove it entirely. Honestly, you should cover all the walls with FRP so you can spray it all down periodically. Remove all through-wall outlets and put in some weatherproof outlet boxes directly connected to breakers. You don't want any wall penetrations (potential air leaks, and any contaminants in the wall cavity). I'd put tyvek down and them cement board over everything, then FRP with all seams caulked. If you don't want to do that, you should put a grow tent inside the room with a hepa filter air exchange to the outer room (but still address the AC issue and wall penetrations).

Tell that to the 1000lbs of grain a week im inoculating with liquid. It's easy to be intimidated or scared of something new or that we don't know much about. I get it, because I'm in that boat. We need to push ourselves to learn new things and grow our knowledge.
