The Radio Demon, this Overlord of Madness dressed in elegant red- Knows how to sing. And he's excepcionally good at it. You just sit there, all around you there are corpses of sinners, smell of licor from broken bottles and the smell of tobbaco mixed with the intoxicating smell of blood and cheap perfume that makes your head spin and your nose wrinkle, but is also the only thing keeping you grounded. Telling you that you are not dreaming. You are dead. Well, you DIED, and now you are in hell. In a version you never could have imagined. Is this your eternal sentence? A second, eternal life in a place that is no different from earth, but a version devoid of logic but at the same time so endearing? This Demon, monster, cannibal... Is in the middle of it all, he's been so long here that he moves with the grace of a deer on a field of flowers, as if this was his element, his prime. His ever consistent smile and the way he makes all of this his own. Despite his freackish appeareance... His voice is that of an angel. And you are here, admiring this being of pure, dark evil. Mesmerized and enamored by such act, which only you remain to witness. The red lights shower his gray skin and bring out the glow of his eyes. He's on the stage, and you are his audience. For how long? You don't know. You don't question many thing anymore and find that moving with the flow of whatever sea you find yourself now, is disturbingly easy. Even more if he's the one controlling it. -''Caught your ear, Did it? Well you would recognize this one more than most, I suppose''.-He says, voice impossibly soft and endearing, as if he was talking to an old friend and you just saw each other yesterday having tea on the porch... He's not wrong though, this song hits close home in a way you dare not, cannot, explain nor dwell too much. He keeps singing, and you are reminded of the smell of pastries and hot chocolate. The occasional scent of tobbaco and cheap perfume... You have been here before... In another life. In another time... The song ends with imaginary clapping from an imaginary crowd and his voice once again calls you, breaking the spell at last, although still dizzy. His gloved hand in front of you and a wide, sharp fanged courteous smile which should sicken you to your very core, yet it doesn't. Your features don't look like those of an innocent angel either. Nor remotely human anymore. -''Nothing like a good performance to set the stage for an evening, Is there? Come, my friend! There's a particular vintage it would be lovely to sample at this hour!''.-Again, laughs from an imaginary audience are heard, if from his microphone or your own mind, you don't know anymore. For how long will he entertain this charade? When will he grow bored of you and make you join the piles of corpses at his back? Well, whatever. He's charming, reminds you of someone you knew, of a life you left behind. And you are already dead anyways. So you take his hand and follow his lead...

French always has a way of making me weak and calming me down and with Alastor being one of my favorite characters, it does make for a wonderful combination. It’s just a shame it took me 2 years to find this version.

I have pretty bad anxiety and I've been have quite a few panic attacks recently, but, when i first heard this song i felt a huge wave of calmness, for the first time in forever. I literally almost fell asleep when i first listened to it. And the fact that its alastor singing it just makes it so much better since hes my favorite comfort character, and i feel like hes singing to me to comfort me. I love this song, but i love alastor even more ❤️

Now this is such pure music, I got goosebumps during the premiere. I love how at the end Alastor just brushes over the fact that he sang a song with so much pure emotions. Oh my, DJ. This is just simply moving. As soon as I saw the title 'La Vie en Rose' my heart skipped a beat. My favorite piece of French music, arranged gorgeously and with your Alastor singing in French? Damn, I got quite excited, ha! I wondered how you would handle the French and all I can say is c'était exquis! Absolutely beautiful, my friend, and executed so well. And Alastor's radio distortions? They fit perfectly. Recordings of Edith Piaf singing this are older and in much less higher fidelity, exactly like Alastor's voice here and I loved how well it was executed! The sound designs besides the distortion as well were a treat. The footsteps of Alastor approaching the piano, followed by the creaks as he sat down and opened the fallboard sets a great stage. Then while he plays and relaxes more, those wispy and rumbling sounds of his power idly drifting out and surrounding him lend to a great mental image of him being lost in the playing. It all fit just wonderfully. Characterwise, this song also would certainly be one Alastor knows. He was Creole and would have known French Creole since he was from Louisiana. Further, with how proper he is, it would also make sense that he would master French as well. The song was from 1945 as well and is that 'traditional pop' style that Alastor's based his persona around. Although, the heavily romantic lyrics of the song when applied to Alastor might suggest some things... The Radiodust fans must be absolutely losing their minds over this.

After the "caught your ear, did I?" I couldn't help but imagine Angel idely flipping through a book, searching for the dirty scenes, with the radio crooning in the back. He recognizes the voice as Al's, turns it up and smiles because tomorrow he can tease the big bad radio demon for indulging in love songs. That's when Al breaks the charade, speaks to Angel directly, to which Angel jumps, slamming the book shut--as if caught red-handed with the smut--and gawking at the radio. Alastor laughs and keeps singing La Vive Un Rose, A Life in Pink.

This is like Batman singing Am I Blue. Something quietly sentimental about a normally socially inept character being able to give us something beautiful. I can imagine this being in season 2, the gang are reaping from the Exorcists, trauma isn’t recovered from yet, then Alastor, in his own little world decides to sing for himself. The rest hear him and… Charlie decides to invite Vaggie to a slow dance in the foyer. Husk looks up and remembers from his days as a bar hopper and seeing happy couples dance in front of him. Anthony remembers the speak easy he last saw his sister wave goodbye to him. Nifty remembers listening to this song on the radio alone in her house. Lucifer looks up at the portrait of Lilith and misses her even more, glaring in Alastor general vicinity for getting under his skin, even unintentionally. Just a quiet serenade to end the first episode of season 2.

This reminds me of the French singer and actor, Charles Aznavour. This sounds like something that would’ve been up his alley. Anyway, brilliant job as always! Personally, I don't think of Radiodust when I listen to this cover song. I imagine that the person who finds Alastor is the lamb lady from the comic "A Day in the Afterlife." Here's my scene for this song: The lamb lady finds herself in danger once again, this time captured by a gang of ruffians squatting in an old theater. As she escapes and hides from them, the sound of footsteps echo throughout the building. Then, a piano softly plays. What once was the cacophony of ruffians is now a rather peaceful (and romantic) performance. The lamb lady follows the music, scared yet entranced. She eventually finds the theater's stage. She freezes in place. What greets her is a macabre puppet show. Entrails scatter the walls, the seats, and the stage. Corpses dance like ragdolls on strings, pulled by massive, monstrous shadows. Blood stains the old dusty floor. The lamb lady looks up at the stage to find a piano... and him. The Radio Demon himself. The one who smiles. The gentleman who saved her life.

I want this at my wedding as the final song. I can just imagine as me and my fiancé start at opposite ends of the dance floor, come to the center while Alastor is walking. Fiancé bows and holds a hand out, I take it and we start dancing on the dance floor. Twirling and spinning gracefully. When Alastor speaks, my fiancé turns and says it to someone in the crowd and we go back to dancing. At the end, I put a playful elbow on his shoulder, and say the last few lines and we walk off to our honeymoon together.
